GUILTY TX - Gerren Isgrigg, 6, disabled, left to die in Wylie park, 12 April 2010

  • #441
Links not working. Does this mean they moved to the motel before or after Gerren was found? I wonder if they lost their home to forclosure and she was so stressed about caring for him she allowed him to die by withholding care/feedings and then lied to her husband and son about bringing him to a social worker. IF that was the scenario it would explain why her DH and step son? bought her story.

Well, we now know she said she left Gerren there on Tuesday April 12th and he wasn't found until Thursday the 15th. So if they just moved in the last week, they moved AFTER she left Gerren there. ETA: I wonder if the move was an attempt to not be found if/when Gerren was found and ID'd.

ETA, I'm confused on the dates. Monday was the 12th, but one article I read said the 12th, and one said Tuesday.

and she signed on last the very day that grandma left Gerren in the park, that precious little boy was left and lived for at least 48 hours there under the brush pile

That's exactly what I was praying wasn't the case. It's breaking my heart to picture this little guy laying there, not seeing anything, not hearing anything, no reassuring touch (his only link to a world outside his head), not being fed, no medicine, having seizures with nobody to comfort him. It's one of the worst possible scenarios I could imagine someone ever living through. I know it's so unrealistic, but I keep thinking, I'm so close to Wylie, if I could only have been there and found him. Poor little boy.

I may have overlooked this, but does anyone know WHY Gerren was in such bad physical shape to begin with?

From the media reports, he was born premature, his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times at birth. His father said he was normal for about a month, drank bottles, was capable of swallowing. And then he started having seizures 2 or 3 times a week, which then became daily. He was diagnosed with "West Syndrome". I'm under the impression that the seizures caused him to go blind, deaf, and lose the use of his extremities.

Here's the link. Scroll down to the section labeled health problems.

ETA: Some info on West Syndrome.

Oh my. That is sickening. That's just...horrific. That poor baby!

Just to play the devil's advocate-if she wanted him to be found, wouldn't she have gone back to make sure he was OK? Or did she know he would die a slow agonizing death?

Cubby-disagree away. I like hearing other's viewpoints on this-it's a tough situation!

BBM. It is and I agree. My initial reaction was the same as yours. However, I had to step back and pause to look at the variety of situations he may have faced as a single father, hence my sharing the 'other side of the coin'.

When I first became a single parent I didn't have a clue what some fathers go through to see their children, hence sharing what I have learnt over the past 8.5 years as a never married SP.

We can agree to disagree on Gerrens father, and what he could have or should have done.

We are thinking alike. I keep thinking why didn't grandma go back, no remorse? no concern? and why go to a hotel if she gave him to a social worker? Why didn't grandma take him to a hospital since she pulled the feeding tube out, then she could have explained the situation and it could have been resolved if she said she couldn't care for Gerren anymore. The worst thing that could have happened to Gerren was that he was left at the hospital instead of in a brush pile.

AND how many times was mother contacted to come and get him before this happened??? JMO, she needs to be prosecuted right along side grandma.

Monday was the 12th, Tuesday was the 13th. It will be interesting to learn the circumstances on why they moved. Did they lose a home they owned? Evicted from a rental? I can understand why they were asked to leave the motel they are currently residing. The motel doesn't need umpteen million people calling and harrasing them for renting these folks a room. While they did what they did, there is no reason they aren't entitled to have shelter.... I hope whereever they move it is not released in the media again.

They never moved anything out of their 3 or 4 bedroom brick house in Garland except themselves according to local broadcasts.

Here is the quote from the article:

"She left him some place where he would be found," the son said. "She fed him and everything. The kid was a complete vegetable the whole time before this. It's not like it's being portrayed."

:furious: :furious: :furious: And is that supposed to mean Gerren was any less worthy or important? :furious: :furious: :furious: Dude, and if you KNEW your step mom was struggling WHAT DID YOU DO TO HELP TAKE THE STRESS OFF HER? What did your DAD do to help take the stress off her?

If I say anymore about that comment I will have to time myself out.

Poor baby. RIP Gerren.......
(That comment by his step uncle made me cry.)

Yeah, its unbelievably cold and heartless...that poor baby.

I just saw the video, that guy is a true moron!!!!!!! Now Im sick!

Here's a little more info. This seems to support my theory that she (they?) did not want to be found if Gerren was ID'd. BBM

Snip:
Police swarmed her last known address in Garland Thursday. Neighbors said detectives in plainclothes bluntly announced they were investigating the death of the child known as 'Wylie's Angel' upon their arrival. Neighbors said the home was abandoned a few days ago and that no other children lived at the home.

Yeah, its unbelievably cold and heartless...that poor baby.

It was bad enough to hear Gerren was left there. Most of us thought he had died before being left in the park. But to hear he laid there for at least 48 hours ALIVE.

:( Do we know he was alive when she 'buried' him under the brush and sticks? I tend to believe unless the coroner has come up with a time of death, he was likely deceased when she dropped him off. Who would bury a child half under a bush and sticks?

I agree, moms myspace is interesting. I noticed she posted her truck was her hometown. :waitasec: riding those horses she sure doesn't look like someone living in a truck... Unless her reference to a truck is just something this Chicagoan doesn't understand.

Note no replies from her friends either..... Shame on me for wondering if her friends even knew she had a sick child she dumped off on her mother.

On the Facebook support page, I started to post the link to the MySpace but decided it was inappropriate and deleted it. Someone saw it and said that a nurse had identified the baby from the Myspace as Gerren, not a new baby.

It was determined that Gerren had been there 24 hrs or less according to initial reports from the ME however that was based on him being deceased and then we found out grandma left him there on the 12th. IDK, he wasn't buried though, now they describe it as viney material in a brush pile according to the warrant with a blanket over him. We were having strong winds so again, idk.

Noticed the mother had 2 pictures of her 'pups', 2 pictures of her horses and 1 of her baby and listed her religion as agnostic on her myspace. That is one mother i hope i never meet!

I too hope never to meet her. I thought the comments from friends were odd.

Only one photo of her baby. Sheesh-you should see my FB page-it's mostly my babies!

respectfully snipped. BBM. Thanks. It is always nice to have a locals input.

I want so badly to believe he was already gone when she left him there. Of course the other thought is the worst, that he was left there to die alone. :(

Thanks. Now I am going to sound like an 'old lady'. It took me a long time to undestand what "hollah at you" meant. Is the Hooker word kind of like a blonde person making fun of themselve being a blonde, or a black person calling themself the N word?

I've never heard of the "H" phrase before....

just trying to understand.
