there is a different atmosphere here than in a big city, i grew up in a big town and moved here when i was older teens. Theres no way i would let my child,even as a teen, go walking in a bigger town, but here if mine was a teen i would of. I have on many occasions seen younger kids say 9 or 10 yrs old riding bikes down the street, and theres a place ive thot of calling in on many time cause theres a toddler out in the front yard with no parents just other kids. so yes we are alot more layed back.

Thank you very much. I'm between Baltimore and Washington DC so no way my kids are out of my radar for a minute. I guess it doesn't help that I was the victim of an attempted abduction. I know every move my kids make.

It seems to me what LE is doing then is illegal. How can a person who is NOT a POI have their phone confiscated by LE? It is obvious that they have "targeted" the parents from the beginning. Instead of HD and her parents being victims in this, it has been suggested by LE that they are the guilty parties, including HD!

I also think she is trying to protect SA,because she's known him for so long and not believing he did anything,but worried he might have.I'm not sure if that would affect the polygraph,she sounds very confused and torn.I just keep feeling her and CD think she ran away,but not knowing for sure.

Why do you think she feels HD ran away? If so, why has it upset her so that LE suspects that, and why has she said she wouldn't run away? She is the one that called the Texas Rangers and called other organizations for help. It is LE that refuses to allow the other agencies to help and maintains she is "standing up somewhere" "hiding". The audacity and the community of CCity should be outraged at this in my opinion.

This is pretty much the mo for LE. SA was the last person to see Haliey and mom said her phone was the one Hailey would be using if she was on the phone, so LE will take those phones and go through them with a fine tooth comb, we have a girl missing and they want any and all information... It is not illegal it is part of the process, everything is fair game within reason ....this is all moo of course

shaking my head. Something is wrong here. No way, no way has LE got the phone turned off with no way for Hailey to call her mom (or LE if they have it on, BD would certainly have given permission for it to be answered). Someone is misunderstanding or something is weird. At the least her cell carrier could have issued her a new phone with the same number.

Either we have a completely incompetent LE on a level I have never before seen, where they take away the only means for a missing child to call home, or something is very screwed up. I believe LE can be incompetent but not to that very basic extent. Even the dog catcher would figure out that if a child is a runaway or in trouble but alive, they need a way to contact the family.

The only thing I can think is that someone in LE abducted her imo because there is no reason for them to turn off the only access she has to home. NONE. Unless it was to cover for himself. Now I am not saying that its what happened but it is the only possible reason i can come up with from LE's side.

NG herself has said the LE there are incompetent. She hasn't seen the likes of this "investigation" or lack of before in a case like this. I do believe that is what is happening. Small town Texas, and egos. I also think that from the beginning the LE has been biased against the parents in this case, for whatever reason, and I think that is terrible. I feel for them and am so glad this small town force has gotten national media attention because it would be so much worse for the family if there wasn't public scrutiny of this case.

LE only goal is to make sure Hailey comes home safely. If her family won't be honest with them, LE assumes that they know something about her disappearance, whether that is true or not. LE does NOT like to be lied to about anything.

My best advice to anyone in a missing person situation is to tell LE everything, be upfront and honest, because if they find out you're lying about one thing, they think you are lying about EVERYTHING. I've been in a missing person situation before. My BIL was missing and presumed drowned, and his girlfriend lied to LE about everything. Trust me, they weren't happy with her and sent her home and never spoke to her again. But, that a whole other story....

I've went through this when my ex husband's brother was missing,later found to be killed by his best friend.We were all young,we had left earlier that day.We had no idea and would never have believed in a million years that our friend,his best friend would have been the one to have killed him in an argument and buried him.Plus some of the people we went through school with and were such good friends with were there and afraid to speak,we just had no idea.But we told LE everything we could,I mean everything we could and probably things we didn't have to.LOL But LE was straight up with us,kept us informed of everything they were doing,they knew we were telling all we knew,because they told us things we didn't know they knew. So it's a good thing to get a good repor with one another,never go in the public and criticize LE and the public shouldn't criticize them not knowing what they know.

LE is the one who searches for a missing person,mistrust of those who have no goal but to find a child?It's about the child and the parent should do everything asked,whether they want to or not.LE didn't lose the child,they're spending thousands looking for her.All they ask is honesty from friends and family,they are not the enemy and why would they want to set up anyone?Any parent of a missing child will be exhausted can't eat or sleep,but part of the process if having to go through the questions.

Yes, LE searches for missing people and the goal is to return them to safety. LE also has another goal, if there has been a crime, they are building a case by any means neccessary and within the boundries of the legal system. LE has been trained to build a case. Even a simple traffic stop, LE is building a case against you. While LE may not be an enemy, they are not your friend either...JMO

On whatever day she went missing she was so distraught about SA becoming her step father???
Could SA and her of fought about it so bad? He has a temper and I can see a 13 year old saying 'you're not my dad,'............'I'm going to tell my dad what you did'.......etc.

We're not talking about show ratings and all but the FBI and Texas Rangers are also involved in this case.I wouldn't call them incompetent.

Amen winterrose! LE knows a lot more than they are telling anyone. And I have to believe they know what they are doing.

Is the FBI really there working with local LE in CC? If so, I can't understand why or how anything "illegal" would be going on from a LE standpoint.

I don't understand them keeping the phone but I think they could have included it in a search warrant as evidence if there is a reason they want it.

Do you happen to have a link stating it was the mother that called in the Texas Rangers and others? I don't think private citizens can call in the Texas Rangers and the FBI, but I could be sorely mistaken.

Wasn't it on NG they said the police didn't have to take the phone they can get all that information from the phone company? That is my point, there is no reason for them to still have it and they shouldn't still have it unless it is evidence in a crime, and they maintain, this isn't a crime.

Possibly because of what they were being told by family and friends,and things on her ms they felt she had runaway.They were going to be given polygraphs whether they wanted them or not.LE also has records of any kind of cases that showed someone might not be truthful in a situation,so there could be questions of people's honesty,etc.
