Didn't someone bring up the Rebekah home like a couple years ago on a previous WCJD? Like around the time the Cathy picture surfaced? It rings a bell, for some reason.

I wish I could hug every one of you right now.

According to Carl it is nobody who had popped up recently in speculations. I think we should be patient and wait. Give the family time

I hope that wasn't a red herring sent to Carl. If it wasn't then I am very happy to finally know for sure she has been identified.

  • #245
I would love to know by what means she was ID'd.

  • #246
I am in tears...its confirmed...she is identified!!!!

  • #247
I was right, the Aransas Pass was a red herring

  • #248
I was wrong then. I guess I was too excited and saw things that weren't there. But still, she's been identified, which is amazing

Such an emotional day. God Bless Carl who worked endlessly over many years to keep this girl's case front and center.

Now the focus....justice.

  • #250
So that means either she lied or the waitress lied about meeting her in the first place.

  • #251
I'm so emotional right now!

I am also surprised because I was sure she was a Texan.

  • #252
I wonder how the ID was made? DNA or some other way?

  • #253
I think the tip Carl submitted was correct! I think this she most resembles this version of her numerous sketches. OMG

I thought DNA would be the key...maybe??
I was hoping it was Othram.....

Carl said the victim was not from Texas so I think that statement eliminates this person.

"I just received a message from a friend of the family of the girl formerly known as Walker County Jane Doe.
Walker County Jane Doe has been identified. She was not from the state of Texas. All of the persons about whom there has been speculation, including a girl shown in a photo that just surfaced today are not WCJD.
The family is obviously traumatized by the news, and has requested that I keep any specifics in confidence, and I am honoring that request.
There are still many members of her family who have not received the news, and for the time being, they want to maintain a circle of privacy. They have been following in recent days how much attention this case has attracted over the years, and need time to grieve before any information about her goes public.
Thank you all for your interest in this case, and thank you for your understanding.
Carl K"
That’s terrible. I really suspected she either didn’t have much of a family or they were estranged.
If they aren’t from Texas, they might have even seen the story at some point and never made the connection, since she claimed to be from there.

The idea of her I had all these years in my head was so off.
She WAS reported missing, she did have a family that loved her, she wasn't from Texas.

  • #258
Carl said it wasn't any of the girls pictured or speculated to be about her.

He also commented that she was reported missing, but her report seems to have been lost in the jumble of missing children's cases in the 80s, and that she was loved and missed by family and friends and didn't come from a dysfunctional/neglectful home.

ADMIN NOTE:

This thread is reopened but please take note:

Walker County Jane Doe has been identified but at this time her real name has not been released to the public. We aren't sure when that will happen, if ever.

If anyone stumbles across Jane Doe's real identity while surfing the net, do not under any circumstances publish her identity here at Websleuths.

Thank you all for your cooperation.
