I sincerely hope this is the last anniversary to pass without her name ❤️

One of the commentators on the Facebook page suspects that there was a reason no one who knew she was missing came forward to identify her years ago. I just don't see it - she was only about 15 and i doubt she was involved in a crime family.

My heart hurts when I think that exactly 38 years ago this baby was going through hell

BBM
I've long suspected that she left a less than ideal living situation, and that both parties were glad to be rid of the other. To me, that explains why no one ever bothered to find out what happened to her, and also her "who cares?" comment.

I agree.

This is a case that I can't and refuse to let go of. Who was Walker County Jane Doe? I hope we know the answer to this question soon.

Hi,

Just wanted to know if any isotope testing has been done on our girl in the past? She claims that she's from the Rockport/Aransas Pass area, but could she had easily lied about where she came from?

Also, as a 38th anniversary for our Jane Doe, I have uploaded my own sketch of her. I know it's very amateur, but I really do hope that we don't have to wait any longer for her family to claim her.

From what I gathered from DDP, they will take on a case if asked by the investigators of that case and get the funding for it.
I can't remember, has someone put a bug in the ear of the investigators on WCJD's about DDP?

Carl has contacted her LE a few times if I remember correctly. I don't know if they reached out or not. We have 2 choices now with Parabon who has funding available

I’m hoping DNAdoe will pick up her case! I’m wondering if she was a foster child or in the system in that way? It’s so hard to believe a child would go missing and no one would report her. I guess it happens, more than I’d like to think about. :(

It's possible she was reported missing and it just didn't go anywhere, or the report got lost or destroyed. Jimmy Reymer went missing from one state, was reported missing locally in another, and ended up a John Doe in a third state. So many other things could have happened apart from her not being reported.

After seeing how many unclaimed homicides there are, looking at this case lead me to two cases that were eventually solved:
Bossier Doe/Carol Ann Cole LA Homicide 1980; MI/TX Identified 2015.
Caledonia Jane Doe/Tammy Alexander NY Homicide 1979; FL Identified 2015.

Prayers for a positive outcome.

ExActly. and once again think about the limited communication back then. Snail mail. Phone. Or in person. All of those things would take persistance and dedication to the cause on both ends. And that means where reported. And everywhere else the alert would have gone out to. It’s easy to understand how something could possibly be passed by without the right amount of motivation.

2+, actually! Colleen Fitzpatrick's own identifinders, which takes on cases involving children, and Barbara Rae-Venter, who helped LE crack the GSK case. GEDmatch is an open data personal genomics database, which in theory means that it is open to use for LE in general, genealogists or not. I believe we will get several more options in the time to come.

I think there are many more, as well. For instance, the Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy lists these licensed practitioners: Hire A Pro | Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy

Wednesday evening, I put up a 38th anniversary post on the Who Was Walker County Jane Doe? Facebook page (for which I am the administrator) Two days later, over a half-million people reached, and a quarter-million engagements (meaning likes, comments, clicks, and shares). The post has over 18,000 shares, and over 1,700 comments. My notifications counter has been running nonstop.

I’m not sure what caused the interest this time around, when previous posts attracted only modest interest. But the word is getting around.

That is very good to hear :). 38 years is way too long... makes me wonder how her poor family is feeling right now....

"Like" wasn't adequate so I have to say this has been a long time coming. Exactly the exposure WCJD needs, I pray your post makes it to the right person. Job well done CarlK90245. Sort of feels like, this is it, maybe its finally moving. Has she ever had that much exposure? I'm just glad she has a lot of dedicated ppl not giving up. How long have you been working her case Carl?

That’s amazing! So happy to hear that! Any tips come in yet?
