One of the commentators on the Facebook page suspects that there was a reason no one who knew she was missing came forward to identify her years ago. I just don't see it - she was only about 15 and i doubt she was involved in a crime family.

I've long suspected that she left a less than ideal living situation, and that both parties were glad to be rid of the other. To me, that explains why no one ever bothered to find out what happened to her, and also her "who cares?" comment.
From what I gathered from DDP, they will take on a case if asked by the investigators of that case and get the funding for it.
I can't remember, has someone put a bug in the ear of the investigators on WCJD's about DDP?
I’m hoping DNAdoe will pick up her case! I’m wondering if she was a foster child or in the system in that way? It’s so hard to believe a child would go missing and no one would report her. I guess it happens, more than I’d like to think about.![]()
ExActly. and once again think about the limited communication back then. Snail mail. Phone. Or in person. All of those things would take persistance and dedication to the cause on both ends. And that means where reported. And everywhere else the alert would have gone out to. It’s easy to understand how something could possibly be passed by without the right amount of motivation. It's possible she was reported missing and it just didn't go anywhere, or the report got lost or destroyed. Jimmy Reymer went missing from one state, was reported missing locally in another, and ended up a John Doe in a third state. So many other things could have happened apart from her not being reported.
2+, actually! Colleen Fitzpatrick's own identifinders, which takes on cases involving children, and Barbara Rae-Venter, who helped LE crack the GSK case. GEDmatch is an open data personal genomics database, which in theory means that it is open to use for LE in general, genealogists or not. I believe we will get several more options in the time to come.We have 2 choices now with Parabon who has funding available

Wednesday evening, I put up a 38th anniversary post on the Who Was Walker County Jane Doe? Facebook page (for which I am the administrator) Two days later, over a half-million people reached, and a quarter-million engagements (meaning likes, comments, clicks, and shares). The post has over 18,000 shares, and over 1,700 comments. My notifications counter has been running nonstop.
I’m not sure what caused the interest this time around, when previous posts attracted only modest interest. But the word is getting around.
"Like" wasn't adequate so I have to say this has been a long time coming. Exactly the exposure WCJD needs, I pray your post makes it to the right person. Job well done CarlK90245. Sort of feels like, this is it, maybe its finally moving. Has she ever had that much exposure? I'm just glad she has a lot of dedicated ppl not giving up. How long have you been working her case Carl?Wednesday evening, I put up a 38th anniversary post on the Who Was Walker County Jane Doe?
