Cold Case: Jack Morris
BY MARY JANE FARMER
HERALD DEMOCRAT

BONHAM -- Members of Jack Morris' family say they haven't given up hope of finding him, and won't give up until they learn something about his disappearance.

It was one year ago Thursday, Aug. 12, 2009, when, late at night, Morris spoke with a family member by phone, telling that family member he was going to meet someone at Cotton Center where FM 1550 and FM 271 connect. When the family didn't hear from him again, they went looking and found the pickup he had been driving parked, its keys in the ignition, doors and windows open, and dew settled inside it.

It's been five years since the disappearance of a Fannin County man, and after search and rescue teams were unable to locate him, the family has not given up...

"The Fannin County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating this disapperance as a suspicious act. They won't go as far to say there's foul play, but its definitely suspicious," said Gary Hughes, Morris' brother-in-law...

More than 250 volunteers from across North Texas and Oklahoma searched all around Fannin County, in the days after his disappearance. "All the volunteer fire departements and the city police and the Fannin County Sheriff's were all involved in that. It's still, to this day, an unsolved case," said Charles Howell, Dodd city Fire Chief.

<<A landowner in the southern portion of the county located the bones last week, and authorities suspect they could be those of 47-year-old Jack Randall Morris, who was last seen in Bonham in August 2009.

Morris was reported to have taken his son’s pickup truck that day to Cotton Center but the vehicle was later found abandoned along the roadside with its driver side door open. An extensive search turned up no sign of Morris. >>
