My brother was 14 and was riding his bike when struck by a hit and run driver resulting in a severe traumatic brain injury. He wasn’t expected to live but miraculously survived. The brain injury was so severe that my parents were told he wouldn’t be able to return to school for at least 2 years. It had a profound permanent effect on him mentally and his personality changed completely, not for the better.
Having first-hand knowledge of how mentally fragile a person can become after suffering this type of trauma, I hope the judge understands that such a person would be like putty in the hands of someone as manipulative and cruel as JLF.
