If anyone can find Jason, it’s Texas Eqqusearch (assuming he’s still near the crash site).

It sounds to me like they are fairly confident he’s not out there — at least not within the search perimeter set forth by LE.

I wish police would post drone photos and crowd source to see if anyone sees him laying down anywhere.

They will definitely try their best.

The intersection of East Austin and 183, where Jason needed to turn right to continues on 183 to I-10 has an express lube and Baptist church, which were most like dark to rather dark at that time of night.

not a busy commercial intersection to catch one’s eye. And if his navigation app didn’t speak, or was lagging, off he went, straight across and up Salt Flat.

He may have not realized he was on the wrong route immediately, and that’s how get got as far as he did. Or he thought that was the right road and kept going.

Not sure where pavement becomes gravel on that road, does anyone know?? Surely when it became gravel he realized he was lost.

Looking at the map, i can see where he may have gone to that house and even the pond SE of the house, but what about after that? The skinny bodies of water further back? Are they even full of water? I’m visiting the Austin area currently and the water levels in the South San Gabriel are wayyyy down bc of lack of rain, so those blue areas in google maps may be deceiving.

About the pond, as of Friday:

"As of 3:00 p.m. Friday, Kent said that the pond was drained and that "from the best they can tell, Jason is not in there. They are bringing teams to thoroughly examine it, and are trying to figure out why the [search] dogs all led to the pond."

The search is planned to continue going into the weekend before Christmas. According to the SPC, there will be 10 K-9 units, a plane, 40 people searching, and the teams on horses will continue. DNA samples will also be taken from Jason's car."

Hopefully they looked in the trees.

Hopefully they looked in the trees.

Do you mean those two large trees near where his car was?

I'm stumped as to what you mean. Or do you mean "in the woods"? Because it looks sort of non-woodsy nearby.

EquuSearch calls off search for missing 21-year-old Texas State student from Missouri City

To Note:
Texas EquuSearch sent crews out to the rural area of central Texas where Jason's car was found to assist in the search. As of Tuesday afternoon, they announced the area had been searched as thoroughly as it could be and could not continue without new leads.

They issued the following statement:
Searchers and law enforcement investigators have utilized multiple resources in the search for Jason, including a helicopter with infrared cameras, UAVs (drones), side-scan sonar, scent dogs, as well as searchers on foot, ATVs and horseback. We will not speculate on what may have happen to Jason, but we feel the vast area surrounding the accident scene has been thoroughly searched ... and Jason still hasn't been found. As a result, Texas EquuSearch is suspending our search operations for Jason until law enforcement investigators obtain credible, and sufficient information that would lead our team into a more specific area to search.

Texas EquuSearch said they are waiting until investigators can find more information or another area to search.

Missing Texas State student Jason Landry’s abandoned car did not cause immediate concern; police work to overcome early investigative delays

Caldwell County Sheriff’s Sgt. William Miller told CrimeOnline that investigators were not immediately concerned about Landry’s safety just after the discovery of his vehicle, because of how frequently police receive reports of abandoned cars in the remote area of central Texas.

“There were certain things that weren’t done” in the first hours after the discovery of Landry’s abandoned car, Miller said. “We weren’t conducting a true missing persons investigation.”

With that investigation now in the hands of the Caldwell County Sheriff, “we are more focused on where was he, what he was doing” before he vanished, Miller said. He said his department has been working around the clock to reach friends and associates of Landry’s who may have been in communication with him around the time of his disappearance. Miller also said investigators are working to confirm Landry’s cell phone carrier and determine whether he would have had a signal at the site of crash, which the sergeant described as “some real back country.”

This is from the article you posted. I thought it was interesting.:

“All I want to do is hug my boy,” Kent Landry said, crying. “And I just tell every parent, hug your kids. Forgive them. We’ve all made mistakes, we’re all sinners in need of God’s grace and mercy.”

Also TES would have searched the trees, I’m sure. But they said they’re pretty confident he walked from the wreck.

If he stumbled in the pond and was able to get out and continue walking, would him being wet make it possible for the dogs to no longer follow his scent?

Thanks happyday. Making note to review weather reports here as well. If he was cold, he may have gotten under leaves, which is also common with small kids who wander off and get lost in the cold, jmo, or perhaps got in a culvert, and succumbed to injuries there. Of course we know TES would inspect every inch of that radius.

What radius are they using? 1 mile? 2? (Talking to self, marking to catch up in thread when I can :) )
2 mile

I hope this Is allowed as it comes from the fathers church page. It is a signup genius for those wanting to pray for Jason to be found. There are slots available from the 23rd onward, starting after midnight, 15 minute increments.
trying to force a belief system onto anyone, but this case is so sad, disheartening that Jason hasn’t been found, i believe the family would be grateful for all positive thoughts and vibes for them and Jason.

This story has really weighed on my heart all week. I've been thru Luling hundreds of times on our way to Austin. Tonight my husband pulled up Google Maps....and we saw exactly how he ended up on Salt Flats Road .... There is a little farmers market just a couple of blocks from where he should have turned.

We were just through Luling on Sunday a week ago to meet up with our youngest son and grands in Lockhart.

The way I see it -- we have a city kid who messed up and went down the wrong road, possibly cruising with music and at a pretty good clip to possibly dodged a deer or a bunch of hogs. I live rural too..... happens all the time. Cattle out on the road isn't out of the question. City kid out on a very dark rural road isn't a good combination.

Once he got himself together after the crash..... he probably wanted to high tail it to the nearest house. Then there wasn't any houses to go to .... He could have easily made it more than 2 miles if he followed the road......

I also noticed on Google maps that there are other roads that t-bone into Salt Flats. Perhaps on a desperate search for the nearest house he walked down one of those roads...realizing he didn't see many if any while he was driving down that road..and the one he may have approached was abandoned...

Hubs also pulled up a perimeter circle on Google maps for 2 miles. That's a lot of ground to cover AND a lot of what appears to be weesatche and mesquite trees which can be pretty thick.

My fear? It's been 8-9 days and if he was out there.... he's been without water unless he found a watering pond and often times that water source isn't drinkable.

BUT THEN -- something the father said that makes me think that LE isn't telling the entire story. That quote where the father said "someone knows something......"

And then...... we have little info on the actual crash....and what they are finding. Is there more but they're trying to keep it low profile?

My gut says he indeed walked away to find help and got into trouble. Someone mentioned hogs. That is a real possibility. Made a wrong turn? Possible. Someone sinister picked him up? Could be..,..

Hated to see one of the search agencies pull out today but they're saying "once LE has more info....." which almost says "Once LE releases more info??" ...

Just my 2c.
