All the twitters I saw are actually of kids being really broken hearted, all his friends are posting about what a goofy guy josh was and how he was obsessed with horses and roping...I only see them posting about wanting the death penalty for the suspect? I must be looking at different friends then you are...

Gang rivalry led to fatal stabbing at Spring High

Teen suspect tells officials that a bump escalated into a fatality

Gang rivalry appears to be the motive behind Wednesday morning's stabbing at Spring High School that left a teenager dead, three others injured and a 17-year-old charged with murder, authorities said Thursday.

Luis Alonzo Alfaro, who was charged in the stabbing, remains in the Harris County Jail on $150,000 bail.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office on Thursday issued a news release stating the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Joshua Broussard was gang-related, but included no further information about the rivalry. Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said Wednesday that detectives were investigating the possibility that the incident might have been gang-related, but he did not elaborate.

According to court documents, Alfaro told investigators he bumped into a student as he entered the school cafeteria. The two exchanged words and shoved each other. Another student shoved Alfaro and hit him in the left side of his face.

Then, Alfaro said, according to court documents, he pulled out a pocketknife from his shorts and opened it. He covered his face with his left forearm as he held the knife in his right hand and waved it back and forth.

The tweets I'm seeing are giving me the chills. Pictures of guns and comments like "Hope y'all are ready". One race talking about killing the other on site.

Whether these are punk thugs talking big on twitter or not, I really hope the police and the school are properly prepared to open on Monday. The stuff I'm seeing isn't even funny. :maddening:

Really? He killed one, seriously injured another and injured a third and all he did was wave the knife back and forth.

Adults get into fights for this same reason. Not sure what schools expect, when they have immature teens crowded into schools and inadequate supervision. jmo

" SHS is keeping everything under wraps, like they have every year I have gone there. There have been shootings at football games, rapes in the halls on camera where no one is charged, stabbings, gang violence and drug violence."

Why the cover-ups? I never understood that. Expose it all and then clean house.
No teenager should have to endure this just to have an education, especially since online schools are now available.

:yourock:

Even if they already know about this stuff, it doesn't hurt to make sure they know!

Will you keep us posted? I'd be curious as to what they tell you.

It sounds like the suspect is claiming self defense if he says he got hit first then covered his face and waved his knife. I wonder why he was supposedly covering his face. Surely one person didn't do all the injuries with his face covered.

I've read a few reports that stated this was a gang related crime.
I however take those reports with a grain of salt...
That being said remember when we only heard about gangs in prison or in large cities?

Just curious, why do you say that? :waitasec: From all of the articles I've read, and tweets that I've seen - There is no question in my mind that this is/was gang related.

I find it strange that Luis Alonzo Alfaro was provoked after a person bumped into him. I wonder if Joshua Broussard was a bystander.

HCSO: Gang rivalry motive for Spring High School stabbings

There were different versions of exactly what happened during the fight.

In probable cause court Thursday, Alfaro said the fight started because Broussard bumped shoulders with him. That turned into an argument, which led to a fist fight.

Alfaro allegedly told detectives he pulled out a pocket knife and swung it in a back-and-forth motion as he covered his face with his other arm.

But a witness who was seated right next to Broussard when the fight began told a different story.

”The man just threw all the stuff off the table and jumped across the table and hit the young man [Broussard] in the face and made him fall on the floor,” the girl said. “I saw them stab the students.”

Alfaro then tried to run away but was caught just moments later.

Broussard’s brother said the victim was actually afraid to go to school that morning. He said his brother had gotten into a fight with another student earlier this week, and was spooked after reading threatening messages on social media.

“And they said ‘We’re killing people.’ So he read on Twitter and said, ‘Oh man, I don’t want to go to school today. I’m scared,’” said Broussard’s brother.

He said their grandmother made Broussard go to school because he had already been absent too many times.

“So he went to school and got stabbed and just collapsed,” said Broussard’s brother.

I tend to believe the brother's story and hopefully there's many witnesses and video footage to back his story. This is not good. Bullying has turned into street gang violence and outright murder.

Gang activity, stabbings at Spring High have parents concerned for students' safety

The victim’s brother has said the fight was all over a girl, who Broussard accidentally bumped in a hallway days earlier. And he said the girl turned out to be the girlfriend of a well known gang member.

“My brother was not in a gang,” he said. “It’s the people that killed him that were in a gang.”

The brother said Broussard was part of a so-called click or group of friends. But a gang expert said clicks and gangs can be the same thing.

“It doesn’t make a difference of what the kids are calling it,” said former gang member Reginald Gordon. “When they’re in the lifestyle and dealing with that culture, it can cause death.”

I do too, but I also think he is lying and denying that his brother was also in a gang. :twocents:
