Tiffany did not appear because the judge said she's suicidal. Her injury to a child by omission charge was still read, however. Her bond was set at $150,000. ………….. her bond needs to be higher they’ve had 4 months of freedom while this little guy is in the cold ground all because he took snacks, this has turned out to be worse then I imagined , may their lives be hell in jail like they put this little guy threw. Just my own damn opinion !!! I hope these two rot in jail and get treated like they treated Troy

It usually doesn't take much time for the new inmates in the jailhouse to be "found out" WRT what he or she has probably done to get to jail. Cruelty to babies & children are thought to be, quite often, the worst of the worst in prison hierarchy.
Hope they have a good time when they are jailed...

Yeah, I know, it's just that people sometimes get fixated on the triviality of the 'offence' that caused death. It baffles them. It's just a snack! When whatever happened before his death was always going to be obscenely trivial, because nothing justifies abuse or murder of a child, and the deck was always stacked to ensure this outcome without outside intervention. I am always impressed with the thoughtful comments and personal insights of other posters, and respect their knowledge. I have a personal insight into abusive households, and I was trying to offer an explanation, if anyone was struggling for a reason why a child would be killed for a snack, why a couple would go through the rigours of adopting a child just to kill him. I'm sorry if I came off sounding patronising or know-it-all, it wasn't my intention.

We see so much abuse to those sweet, sweet little ones who have no real way of defending themselves -- and that, IMO, is part of why some adults do it -- because they can. The adults may have endured somewhat similar treatment themselves, or they are frustrated at this, that, or the other. Any excuse will do.
How will this ever stop? Just how?

I think it's less that they're unintelligent and more that these monsters felt such contempt for Troy, that they assumed that the police wouldn't bother to look properly for him either. I've seen it before with, for example, serial killers who are so shocked that anyone noticed a person they targeted went missing. They just assumed that nobody noticed or cared about others around them, and that a whole person just vanishing out of their life would be unremarkable. These people considered Troy a throwaway. It must have shocked them that not only did the police look for and find him, but that they didn't believe their stories about how he ended up the way he did.

That's in no way a justification for any of this, but it does speak to the fact that they saw Troy as invisible, disposable. When someone sees another as less than human, they might feel absolutely fine in doing horrible things to them and thinking it doesn't count. It doesn't mean these people have any kind of diagnosible issue that would justify it. People went to work at concentration camps every day, too, and they weren't sociopaths. They just decided their prisoners weren't human, so what they did to them was fine.

Troy deserved so much better.

SPRING, Texas – A 7-year-old boy who was reported missing for several hours Thursday was found dead inside of a washing machine at home in Spring, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman says.

Precinct 4 constable deputies responded to a missing persons call in the 4400 block of Rosegate Drive in the Birnamwood subdivision around 5:20 a.m.

When constable deputies arrived at the scene, the parents of Troy Khoeler reportedly told them the 7-year-old had been missing since 4 a.m.

When authorities conducted a search, they found the boy inside of a top-load washing machine...

@Kudzuu I have seriously seen foster children eat Ramen, when the rest of the family is eating pizza. And apparently, there is nothing wrong with this. I don't like it.

Could you explain this to me, I don’t understand? The family orders pizza & eat it, while their fosters (who would like pizza too) are given Ramen? There’s nothing wrong with this, according to who? CPS/FS/whatever the organization is called? How can that be? Aren’t fosters supposed to be considered part of the family? Isn’t that the point of foster care rather than orphanages & group homes?

Have the abusers been locked up while waiting trial/sentencing or have they been living their lives like nothing was wrong?

I just read this thread and once again I’m shaking my head in disbelief over what these people did. Every time I think I’ve seen it all, can no longer be surprised/shocked/outraged some horrible people end up in a thread on WS! Troy was a handsome little man who would have made anyone proud to be his mom and/or dad, and he ended up with these two subhumans who tortured him! How does this keep happening? And how did CPS leave this little guy with people who were deemed a moderate risk to him & closed the case? Shouldn’t anything over no risk be considered too risky? There must be something we can do to fix our foster system that has been very badly broken for too many years. I realize they had adopted Troy but he was in foster care first and I don’t believe the abuse was new. I hope Troy is in a better place where everyday is Disneyland & he has all the love he deserved here.

I am not a fan of "foster care". That being said, a lot of people in our church do it for extra money. Some are fantastic, some not so much.

Some of the articles linked in this thread said she worked at a local hospital and some said she was driving for Lyft the night Troy “disappeared”. So I wasn’t sure which was correct, but the time she arrived home would’ve been a weird hour for any hospital I’ve ever worked in or been a patient in, IIRC it was around 5am.

It sure seems like there would be easier ways to make money than foster care, like day care where you send the kids home at the end of the day and you’re not responsible for providing 3 meals, clean clothes, beds, education, medical care etc, etc, etc. I’m actually disgusted by the thought of people fixing one meal for their bio kids and a cheaper meal for the foster kids! Way to make kids feel included & cared about!

I always assumed that foster kids who snuck food had come from environments where food wasn’t always available. It would’ve never occured to me they developed the problem in foster care because they were denied food that was available for others in the house! In this case, beating this baby over a damn cookie! These two almost seemed to be encouraging the others abuse via their text messages!

I wonder why these two were involved with foster care and adopted him to begin with.
