That needs to be determined. If so, this is really an issue. Was JM in danger from people who were able to find him because he was part of the Amber Guyger trial?

No wonder minorities just want to mind their own business and stay out of courtroom situations, even when testifying in a situation that is not directly related to them.

Was JB forced to do it? Is there a subpoena to do it? Or can he just say no to doing it.

Probably doesn't make a difference -- if no other witnesses except for these suspects, they can say whatever is in their best interest.

JB is the dead witness, can't give his account, and/or defend himself.

For all we know, all three suspects could have been outside of the car with weapons drawn on JB, and he was only able to fire one shot before he was shot dead.

No telling how it really went down.... maybe surveillance video will now surface.

Doesn't even sound like it even matter with capital murder charges, as to which one fired first.

It doesn't sound like his death had anything to do with him testifying at trial. It's a drug deal gone bad. Presumably that's how he made his living, and would have done it regardless of his testimony at trial.

It does somewhat have to do with AG. If he hadn’t been a witness we would never have known about his murder. We never would have spent the last 4 days here on this thread. And there never would have been the numbers of resources put in place to make an arrest and issue warrants. I just can’t even imagine the number of people involved in this investigation. That just would not have been the case for JB had there not been an AG trial.
But yes it ends there. Had there not been a trial JB would still be deceased from a drug deal gone bad. MOO

Well, that's their side of the story. I am sure they would present it in the circumstances most favorable to them. JB is dead so can't present his side. But it seems like it doesn't even matter for capital murder charges. By the way the dude in hospital is lucky one of the other three was his relative. Because otherwise his body might have shown up in the river instead of the hospital, and JB's murder would have been a lot harder to solve.

that injured kid is just 20... his life may as well be over now.. unless prison rehabilitates him... I spent the night going over social media accounts from the November murder.. and I was forcibly struck by the humanity and love depicted in those pages, all of them... victims and perps equally...

I think dealing weed is the least of their worries -- all 3 suspects may be facing capital murder charges. This reminds me of another drug deal gone bad in El Paso, TX a couple years ago.

(Prosecution reminded the jury, that even if Mailland did not pull the trigger and it was Nava who pulled the trigger, that Mailland is still guilty of capital murder.

One of the prosecutors reminded the jury that when conspiring to commit a felony, and another felony occurs by one person, all people involved in the felony are guilty. Illegal activity can be a very small world, and like any sales industry, suspects probably believed JB offered the best price to suspects.

I agree totally. And I watch 48 hrs enough to know that all are guilty when a murder takes place. All involved are guilty. They know the consequences and make that choice. But some/most just don't care. Why would you care if your stoned all the time??
This not a racists opinion because it happens in all races. It is life on the streets. It seems to occur more in young people between 18 to 30. And it usually ends in death or prison. It's a strong person that can beat the addictions.

It makes me so sad that some are so fractured, they don't care if they live or die. Wow! I got carried away. But, these young people are our future and they should not be thrown away. I feel very strongly about this.

I don't know. I haven't personally seen anyone openly carrying a gun here.
Most people I know do have them, but for home or traveling protection. I know several women who carry when they're jogging.

I ventured over to watch the press conference that CBS posted on YouTube. And the comments were off-the-wall. Some said that the officer giving the press conference was too emotional. But the most outlandish ones said that the police framed the guys from Louisiana! Like DPD went out-of-state to locate the fall guys, knowing it’d become federal when crossing state lines!

I don’t recall this much misinformation and rumors ever with other cases. There does need to be penalties assessed for individuals that compromise the integrity of investigations and start rumors that have no merit. (Pun intended)

I don't know. Just very sad. I wish that our government would address the runaway crisis with gun violence in the United States.

This is not about "gun control", it is just recognizing how many people die each year due to shootings.

Responding to BBM: Again, I see how empathetic you are. I wish I was so idealistic. I do applaud you and respect you. People in their 20s are adults. Nobody threw these drug dealers away. Something in culture gave them the idea that this is a good lifestyle. It's hedonistic and enticing. I have lived in an area ridden with drug dealing. There were plenty of other people living there who went to work and made an honest living. They made a choice to do so. JMO.

Agree. And based on experience - unless patient transferred to critical care/trauma center, moving suspect patient to another facility where he's placed in police custody does not typically happen when condition is life threatening -- but after suspect patient stabilized.

The arrest affidavit for Jacquerious says Dallas police were contacted by a sheriff's deputy in Louisiana who had received a tip. The tipster said the trio were coming to Dallas with a plan to rob Brown.

Jacquerious told police all three of the men traveled from Alexandria, Lousiana, to buy drugs from Brown on Friday. When the three arrived, a "physical altercation" happened between Green and Brown, according to Jacquerious. That culminated in Brown shooting Jacquerious once in the chest. Then, Brown was shot twice by Green in the lower body.

Promise Hospital, a private long-term acute care facility, is where police say Michael took his wounded nephew, Jacquerius. Patrol officers were called out and had a conversation with the now-fugitive accomplice.

According to the arrest affidavit, Michael told the officers "they attempted to buy some ‘weed’” from an unknown individual and he attempted to rob them. They said an unknown suspect shot Jacquerious and provided officers a name of "Demon Martin."

"The rumors shared by community leaders that Mr. Brown’s death was related to the Amber Guyger trial and that DPD was responsible are false. We encourage those leaders to be mindful because their words may jeopardize the integrity of the city of Dallas and DPD," the department said.

Tipster contacts Louisiana Sheriff, states the trio (M Mitchell, J Mitchell, and
T Green), traveled to Dallas with plan to rob JB.

M Mitchell took his nephew J Mitchell --with a gunshot wound-- to private hospital (Promise), where M Mitchell questioned by Patrol Officers, but not arrested.

M Mitchell told officers trio attempted to buy weed from unknown individual, [assumed JB], and the unnamed attempted to rob the trio.

M Mitchell claimed to be a victim. He's now a fugitive accomplice.

Dallas police detectives are in Louisiana searching for M Mitchell and T Green, along with U.S. Marshals in Texas and Louisiana.

J Mitchell is now at Dallas County's Public Hospital (Parkland) where he remains for treatment, and is in police custody.

ETA: Hmmm...

Quick, criminal thinking on the part of J Mitchell to come up with name Demon Martin, and M Mitchell not to name the seller (i.e., JB) -- not to immediately tie the trio to JB, and/or his murder, giving M Mitchell and T Green time to flee.

If I remember correctly, JB was said to not have identification on him when shot, also delaying his identity, and further helping the suspects flee (whether to Louisiana or elsewhere).

Sure it's possible JB attempted to rob 3 armed men on his own, just not plausible!
