Why would he be squatting if he had a home? Is it because he is illegal? Was that his way of hiding?

Hiding because he's here illegally? I don't think anyone pays attention to immigration status unless a crime is committed. And, if the report is true about a 2 month old? Anchor baby. He wouldn't be deported anyway. Can't break up the family, etc., etc.

Well he says he did not ''r'' her. I'm not sure if anyone has said whether or not she was. But if some other dna sample is with her, then that will be the answer, right?

Listen up people-this is an extraordinary crime because the victim was HANGED. A 5 year old girl. Goes beyond depravity-
This one calls for death penalty just for the nature of the crime.
This case deserves all the attention of the perps background and associates. And to me-that means all the relatives, neighbors, apartment personnel etc.
I feel there is much more to be discovered.

This act will not be unpunished. Nor investigated without due diligence.

Trust Texas. Trust FBI. Trust your intuition.

There is no Carlos. The perp claimed he was sleeping while Katherine went missing. That alibi places him in the vacant apartment, if reports that he was squatting there are true. To make up for that blunder, he had to distance himself from the crime by creating Carlos.

JMO and speculation.

Well, you're right that no one cares about immigration status. We have SO many illegal immigrants, there just isn't time. It's pretty much not a concern until someone breaks the law. That's just reality.

With that said, it doesn't matter if he had a daughter. Men with children here get deported all the time. I would say it's true that women with children here rarely (if ever) get deported...not true for men.

Since he is under 18, the most he can get is life in prison with the chance for parole after 40 years. Unfortunately.

Lived in Texas for over 30 years....pretty familiar with how these things work.

I wasn't being personal. I'm just saying in my neighborhood, a lot of families have been broken up due to the fathers being deported. Even if they get pulled over. I've not ever seen the mother get deported, so it seems they have no problem deporting the fathers. It's just my current experience living about 30 minutes from there for many years, that's all.

I lived in Irving and the city stopped people for traffic violations. If they were not legal, it was adios right there on the spot. ICE was there in a very short time. They even had the nerve to complain they were being targeted. jmo

Oh yes, people are detained right there many times. However, they aren't just deported right then and there. There is a system they have to go through. I've seen many women go through the system and stay, but not most men. Mostly, the women in my neighborhood are found to be working illegally at places during stings and such. I've not met a woman who was pulled over and detained so I have no personal notes with those stories, but of course we know it happens all the time!

The perps comment "I didn't rape her" tells me one of two things: either he raped her or thought about raping her. That doesn't come out of someone's mouth for no reason. This 🤬🤬🤬 is going down- I don't care how old he is.

Whoa!
http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2014/09/01/witness-led-police-to-relative-suspected-of-killing-5-year-old/

Sanches-Zenteno faces an immigration charge in addition to the charge of Capital Murder.

Before or after the murder-the INS charge?

I found this article specific to our case -- please forgive if a repeat:

http://crimeblog.dallasnews.com/201...n-for-murder-of-missing-5-year-old-girl.html/

-------------------

Whew, I researched illegal aliens facing serious charges, and I got a lot of references. Immigration law is HUGE, IMO.
I did see one article that I could understand. It states that if the person is convicted, he will serve the time & then be deported:

http://www.wect.com/story/5446005/illegal-immigrant-facing-attempted-murder-charges

------------------

There are a lot of articles about illegals facing charges, but the articles do not state what the sequence of events will be. It is assured that their application for citizenship will be denied (d'oh), but that's about all I can find.

It may be that since LE has the prisoner locked up waiting for trial, they hold the trump card.

Maybe someone who has seen this before can help.

They're given a summons to show up in court....
If, big if, a deportation actually takes place, it's a small inconvenience. Just turn around and walk back in.

Accomplice? Carlos?
Nice try, buddy. :jail:

Well, we'll see. Now LE has to go around & ask neighbors if they know a Carlos... Shoe-leather detective work. Did the 17 y/o give them a description?

Not buying it at this time... but my mind is open... a little...

Maybe he's trying to reduce his shame in his own mind or how his family will see him. That if his family knew he r'd and killed her they'd be far more upset than if he had ' only ' killed her. **speculative**

Didn't Austin Sigg say that when he was taken in for Jessica Ridgeway's murder?

I totally agree with you. No doubt in my mind that's the motive.

I was listening to the police scanner during the entire duration from the first call of a missing child until Katherine was found. The Dallas police had every available officer at the location, not only searching the apartment complex where this happened, but also the apartment complex across the street, every car that came in and out of the complex, and repeatedly checked local businesses along the main street searching.

Early on in the search the witness came forward stating the cousin as the last person who was with Katherine. He was finally located and he, the witness, and all family members except the father, were taking to headquarters for questioning prior to Katherine being found. The father was allowed to stay with officers and assist in the search. There was a delay in searching the vacant apartments due to maintenance personnel not on site at the time. Once the maintenance personnel arrived with keys, it was a very short time before the lead officer requested Dallas Fire Rescue, and then the M.E.

It is amazing how many officers were involved and how dedicated they were to finding Katherine.

Kaelee

Thanks, Kealee -- and beautifully said. It should make everyone in Dallas sleep a little better tonight.

It sounds like all of those good LE folks knew what to do ahead of time, and got to the area quickly and went right to work. There will be another time that they are called out like this, and another, and another. Maybe they will be successful in their next efforts to stop the horror before it is a fatality or something almost as bad. Kudos to each & every one of them. I hope they get some sleep tonight, too.

snipped

He [witness F. Washington] said Katherina was wearing a brown and pink dress and was carrying a Rottweiler puppy. When Washington asked Sanches-Zenteno about the girl, Sanches-Zenteno told him she was his cousin.

snipped

He [witness FW] said that after police arrived and began searching, he saw Sanches-Zenteno on the outskirts of the crowd, wearing a burgundy-colored shirt that he apparently had changed into since Washington saw him earlier with Katherina.

Yeah, whassup with that shirt business?

What a brave, sharp-eyed and determined witness this man is. Bless him. He is helping our Littlest Angel and her family. He wasn't going to let any of that get by for one minute.

Thank you, Mr. Washington.

So far he has only been charged with murder. We'll have to wait & see what the M.E. says when he does a physical examination and then does a rape kit. And then the DNA folks will have to test the rape kit and see if there is a match. He could certainly be ruled out of that part. Or ruled in...

Wait & see, wait & see. We do a fairly good job of that... And IMO the autopsy will be a priority on the M.E.'s list.

Oh, my, that poor innocent little girl. The world will never know what she might have accomplished in her lifetime.
