This link shows the Katy ISD boundaries. You can see it is a very large area and encompasses a lot of families. When the news refers to Katy, it is talking about this huge area.

How awful for the Mom . I hope we hear the backstory on the deceased. I'm also thinking murder-suicide.

Knowing how large the Katy area is (many parts of Ft Bend county are considered Katy, but not actually incorporated into any city, making population in excess of 300,000,) I don’t find the rate of murder to be that high. The Temple case was back in 2007. The Sheats case, which occurred in my neighborhood, was very sad. The mom had a history of mental illness.

Greater Katy - Wikipedia

While the Greater Katy area is estimated to have a population in excessive of 300,000, the current population of the actual city of Katy is only estimated to be around 18,000. That does include areas from 3 counties - Harris, Fort Bend and Waller.
Katy, Texas - Wikipedia

I am not sure if all the addresses of these 3 high profile crimes are considered to be within the city of Katy. My preliminary research indicates all are not. My humble opinion that these 3 murder cases seem like a lot for the area is based on the fact that they ARE high profile I guess.

Temple - 22592 Round Valley Drive, Katy, TX
Sheats - 6011 Remson Hollow Lane, Katy, TX
Perez - 3800 block of Silverhawk Drive, Katy, TX

Interesting to note that the Temple murder is scheduled to be retried in February 2019, some 20 years after it occurred.

I have not seen an exact address in MSM for the Perez case except Silverhawk Drive. Did you get the house number from a news report? Can we get the link?
Thanks so much!

This is deeply saddening. Two young beautiful girls and their step-dad gone - just like that!

Just awful.

That seems strange. The mom/wife couldn't find her family?

Wouldnt the first place anyone would look for them would be at home in all of the rooms?

This is strange.

Unless the family car was missing from the driveway.

Perhaps that's why she thought no one was home? Just a thought.

I see that the Sheriff posted the advisory at 6:42 a.m. today.

There has been another incident but I have no idea how close that address is to the first one.

Homicide investigators are in the 21000 berrywood bend lane. One male and one female are confirmed deceased. Suspect has been detained , PIO is in route.

Likely not related anyway.

ETA:
Tomball Tx (21000 Berrywood bend lane) is a distance from Katy Tx. Different areas. My apologies.

The crime in your post was a double murder by stabbing.
The Berrywood Bend Lane address appears to be in Tomball, another Houston area suburb, about 30 miles north of the Katy area.
Suspect detained after 2 stabbed to death in NW Harris Co.
Why are so many people killing each other?
I know there is no good answer, but darn, this is awful.
Too much death. Too much destruction.
TOO MUCH HATE.

Dear CocoChanel,

I was still looking for a map when you already had posted this. Many thanks.

It's been twelve hours since the Sheriff's department posted the advisory about the shootings.

Perhaps they will release information today.

This is so heartbreaking. Two young girls have their lives and futures ripped from them in an instant.

Oops, so sorry.
Did not mean to jump the gun.
It does seem to take awhile to post these days, no?
When WS keeps reloading the page, it makes it challenging to keep up. I apologize for posting ‘over’ you.

I keep thinking how this will devastate their friends and teachers, not to mention their Mom and family members.
Just awful.

Dear CocoChanel,

Your words are so true.

It's like the ripple effect of the wave of sadness that will touch so many others who knew and loved them.

May they Rest in Peace.

True but don't you think she would still enter her own home?

Dear Oceanblueeyes,

You're right. Also, why would two young girls not be home at 3 a.m.?

It would be odd if they weren't home even at 10 p.m. at their ages.

Teens and stepfather found dead in Katy home identified

In the video embedded in the news article (above), the police officer states that there was "trauma" to all three bodies... "and they were waiting for forensics to arrive.

I'm not clear on what he means by "trauma" other than what would look devastating on a body that had been shot. Perhaps he means "trauma" caused by the gunshot wounds but I don't know for sure.

It sounds to me they sustained other injuries. Maybe bruising or bludgeoning trauma of some kind.

This does not sound like a double homicide...suicide to me.

LE would know if that was the case instantly since the firearm would still be lying close to one of the bodies and would still be inside the home.

It sounds like a triple homicide. Imoo

OOPS PLEASE DISREGARD. just saw the new link..

The weapon was inside the home so it was homicides followed by suicide.

How heartbreaking.
