I'm strongly thinking this was someone from the apartment complex or neighborhood...but surely someone saw them if he took her into his apartment there? I don't *think* she would willingly leave the property and get into a vehicle, since she was only pretending to walk the dog and couldn't be gone long. Whatever happened was very quick, I believe. The perp knew he didn't have much time.

Can someone remind me, was this in broad daylight or early evening?

Early evening around 6.30 iirc but said to be daylight still.

But I agree with you, I also feel this was someone from the apartment complex or neighbourhood.

6:30 pm and later. I believe her parents called LE around 8:00pm. I agree with you. I think the suspect is at least an adult, possibly someone who tried to groom her into trusting him. I believe he lives nearby. Maybe walking the dog was an excuse to see him. Maybe this isn't the first time they have interacted. They could have been very discrete. He could have told her to be discrete. I don't know but I'm sensing she was tricked by a predator into possibly lying to her parents and friends. Maybe this was the first time he was able to get her alone. Just thinking...

I agree. I'm not sure she would have to sneak around if he was only 15. But 17+ she would. And I'm uncomfortable with the idea she would allow someone over 20 to get close to her. I hope she would be more cautious than that, but don't know. Unless this was her first time meeting him in person and he had been lying about his age. That one guy is nagging at me .........

Thats for another thread and it's been debated ad nauseam. I don't want to bring that debate here. But suffice it to say that many consider the possibility that in that other case the perp is in jail.

That may be the case here too. A few pages back someone brought up an arrest at the time of the discovery of the body, of an RSO who lives nearby, for a probation violation. If LE have good reason to suspect he harmed Kaytlynn, but are getting their ducks in a row for charges, then that may be why they are stating there is no danger to the community.

I don't know.

I live in Texas... at 6:30 this time of year it is still broad daylight

Wow, her memorial fund on go fund me has already raised $16k in 18 hours. A goal of $25k.

This girl and her family are so loved.

Just so so tragic.

Which one?

He was on the news, pointing to the spot he saw the dog tied up. I had an immediate knee jerk reaction. These cases give me ridiculous imaginations sometimes! But still.......

When I was fourteen I had a 19 year old male calling me and telling me to sneak around behind my parents back. At first I was afraid of him but I thought he was attractive. After a while I started to like him then let my guard down and did what he said. Thank God he didn't murder or rape me, but I found every excuse to see him. It's a very vulnerable age.

I don't think Chief Gibson sounded defensive. He was explaining the reasons why the department acted the way it did. To me, there's a difference between being defensive and explaining why one acts the way they do. And if he was being defensive, I don't blame him at all. From the comments I've seen on FB, people are more angry toward the police than they are toward whoever or whatever is responsible for this poor girl's death. Heck, I've even seen comments that the police did nothing because she wasn't from an affluent community. People want blood but they need to want it from the person that did this, not from the police department.

The tensions between certain people and LE in the HEB area is long simmering, and their worries about affluence are valid IMO. I don't want to divert to that t much, as it doesn't really add to the discussion here.

I will say, it's fine for LE to feel defensive and to take some comments from the community personally. They are human and they doing a job that is hard, and probably completely sucks right now, However, I think airing that out in a presser the day after a child's body has been identified...showed poor decision making. That presser SHOULD have been about the victim, exactly what steps they are now taking, reassuring the community that LE hears them and they want to be there for them. Asking for tips, leads, etc. That presser was personal to benefit LE. They should not have talked about what the parents said multiple times. They should not have used valuable and vulnerable time with the community, to be defensive. Time is of the essence right now, and they wasted it. It was a wildly inappropriate time for that, IMO.

I am the first to defend LE in these situations. People often blame and question LE in murder investigations. Time and time again, LE proves they worked their tales off to get the perp. I'm sure LE is doing that here, but they aren't giving the appearance of it. And I can't find ways t defend that presser. JMO.

This case is really starting to remind me of Madyson Middleton (8yo) murdered in 2015.

Disappeared in apartment complex. Found in trash. Maddy was found in the dumpster of her apartment complex, her alleged killer was 15 yo at the time and lived there and he is awaiting his trial.
That case heart my heart.

I did, too, at 14. Lots of older guys trying. But I kept my distance because I knew it was illegal, so I kept to boys my own age or a bit older. It's frightening.

6/6:30. Definitely light. I agree with you're thoughts, except I don't think she pretended to walk the dog? But that's just my opinion.
I don't think she tied the dog up at all. I'm wondering if it was staged to look like she did. I'm starting to get some funny feeling about this case.

If the mom found the dog tied to the fence, why would she think that her daughter was at a friend's house for the night? I just wonder what the parents did that night, considering Kaytlynn has never tried to run away before, and is said to be an all around great kid. I'm not accusing them at all; I'm just curious what they did after they called the police.

You and me both. I did find an article that says a friend saw her tie the dog to the fence. I'm looking for it now.

I hate to bring up the video again, but I noticed something yesterday that may be a clue. Not far behind where she was laying, surrounded by detectives, there was a large piece of cardboard, on top of a pile of garbage, it was flat, with a couple of large spots. One looked like where a head may have lain. It looked like it could have been decomp stains... sorry just trying to be clear about what I was seeing, in case anyone wants to take a look. So I'm wondering if she was wrapped in cardboard. Someone said construction is ongoing.....

Me too. If she was killed quickly, BTW, someone could've disposed of her long before her folks spread the word. Although she is bigger and harder to lift than an 8 year old.

But the timing and circumstances indicate to me it was someone close by.

Well, sleuthers like you had the same gut feelings in other cases and were right. Like Alanna Gallagher's case.

Do you have a link to tbe broadcast?

Is it a known fact that she never tried to run away before? I don't remember if that was stated anywhere or not.
