Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to the family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, and others who have not been designated as suspects is not allowed. Don't make random accusations, suggest their involvement, nor bash and attack them.

Several posts were removed because discussion was outside of the parameters stated above. The discussion about victim behavior had gone way beyond civil and constructive. Family members were being brought into the bash fest.

Continuing to post along this vein will result in the loss of posting privileges.

There was a previous article in msm that indicated an unusual amount of activity on the cellphone-- not sure if it was referring to the perp's or KC's ?
The phones/texts will be a clue if everything hasn't been erased.

"..... cited abnormal cellphone behavior on the day Kaytlynn was killed, according to the arrest warrant...."
Emph. mine

I believe it was more the opposite... the affidavit says that there was a period of lack of use of his phone by the suspect which was out of the ordinary for him... I don't remember the exact timing, but it was something like 1755 - 1908 or something there were no calls made iirc

That's interesting. So he went to Trinity last year & this year was going to O. D. Wyatt in Fort Worth. He must have decided to 'get out of Dodge' or at least farther away from it. I'm surprised your daughter didn't have any clue. This is definitely a situation kids can learn from, if they will.

I believe he enrolled based in the new address with his uncle in Ft Worth... daughter said he was funny and nice, but she knew he smoked - apparently there is a big weed culture at Trinity and many of the kids smoke it. [emoji853]

Interesting... thanks TXNurse !

It'd be nice to think he wasn't on his phone due to remorse or fear over the heinous act he'd committed.
But doubtful.

Also would like to know who he called/texted after the crime ? And what he sounded like...depressed, abnormally happy and upbeat... or just "normal" ?
(That last bit would be the most frightening.)

The story is sketchy. Did she actually get marijuana at the first meeting and turned it into $300 worth of dabs in 1 hour? So she was going to deliver the dabs and get paid for that work? Unlikely. Or did he owe her money from a previous deal? Also note that it's possible the story is sketchy because perhaps the Source was high at the time of these events and memory cannot serve him very well...

I thought of this too, and reached the "high" conclusion. Still detective should have inquired more.

Source1 says he is watching them first time because he is worried Suspect is aggressive towards woman.

1 hour later, she goes to Suspect, Source1 is playing 30-minutes basketball. Logic?

I'm more than a bit concerned that this case is not getting the news coverage that it deserves. So far as I've been able to determine, the Fort Worth Star Telegram is the only news source reporting on the hearing today & it's result. I think that's too bad! I hope all the school age kids have heard, think about, discuss & reconsider criminal options that may be readily available to them. This could be an opportunity & alert for many of them to reconsider the perils of drug use & dealing. Perhaps I am just a dreamer. I don't know!

It is starting to get traction. NYP:

I am typing SOURCE1 parts here for easier reference. XXXX is redacted parts in affidavit.

On June 23rd, 2017 Investigator Hicks conducted a voluntary interview wiht Source 1 and his mother. During the interview Investigator Hicks learned that on the date of her disapperance Source 1 was at Kaythlynn's apartment smoking marijuana. While at the apartment Source 1 advised that Kaytlynn received a digital message from XXXX requesting to meet in the apartment complex in regards to purchaasing and selling marjijuana. During that conversation Source 1 advised that Kaythlynn was supposed to meet with XXXX and another unkown person described by XXXX as his brother. Source 1 stated that XXXX requested that Kaythlynn come alone and not bring him or her dog.

Source 1 advised that he knows XXXX because he used to live with Source 1 and his family. Source 1's mother explained that XXXX was asked to leave the apartment when she learned that he was manipulating the young children and was a bad influence on the children.

When Kaytlynn left her apartment to meet wiht XXXX, Source 1 followed behind her with her dog. Source 1 stated that he followed Kaytlynn because he was curious and concerned for her safety. Source 1 added that he was concerned because XXXX has been aggressive and disrespectful to females. Source 1 observed Kaytlynnn meet with XXXX at the pool area located in the 1600 block of Oak Creek LAne, in close proximity to building 1610. Source 1 then observed Kaytlynn run away from XXXX at which time they met up. Source 1 explained that Kaytlynn ran away because XXXX and the unknown male observed Source 1 watching them. They then returned to Kaytlynn's apartment.

Approximately one hour later Kaytlynn and Source 1 walked to the dog park area located in Oak Creek Apartments. When they arrived, Kaytlynn left the dog with Source 1 and she walked west through the complex towards the location where she had met with XXXX an hour earlier. Kaytlynn was never seen again.

Source 1 tied the dog up in the dog park and began playing basketball with his friends while he waited for Kaytlynn. After waiting for Kaytlynn at the dog park for approximately 30 minutes, Source 1 went back to his apartment. When he arrived he sent a digital message to Kaytlynn checking on her welfare. After not received a response, Source 1 returned to the dog park at which time Kaytlynn's mother was there with the dog.

On July 28th 2017 on this date, Investigator Hicks met with Source 1 again who advised the following: Source 1 stated that the first meeting with XXXX was supposed to happen so XXXX could give Kaytlynn and Source 1 the marijuana so they could make dabs. XXXX was going to give them the marijuana and not charge for it. After they made the dabs, Kaytlynn was going to sell it back to XXXX and his brother making the $300.00 that she was going to split with Source 1. Source 1 said when Kaytlynn went to meet with XXXX the second time she told him "I'm going to get the money". He never saw her again after that.

I think he wasn't on his phone because the crime was occurring, sadly. After this happened, I believe he contacted his girlfriend, who was in AL with her mother, to try and set up an alibi. I don't have the quotes and sources off hand.

I have sometimes difficulty understanding my fellow humans.

Remorse? It is a bit difficult to keep chatting and texting while you are dumping bodies in dumpsters after hitting them with hammers in the head.

Also would like to know who he called/texted after the crime ? And what he sounded like...depressed, abnormally happy and upbeat... or just "normal" ?
(That last bit would be the most frightening.)

Why would his mood or what he sounded like matter or why would anyone actually care? He murdered someone by hitting her with a hammer in the head. A HAMMER.

I think the problem is arising because sane people like us are trying to comprehend and/or justify the thinking and acting of insane.
They are not normal. They are high, they have impaired cognitive abilities, they are detached from reality. You can't reason with it and there is no need to.

I hope he is put down.

But do any of us know why he chased her all over the apartment and onto the balcony, hitting her with a hammer, with the intent to kill her? Why?

It seems premeditated, in that he told her to come alone and without her dog. He chased her because she fought back and tried to get away. He killed her because he wanted to?

I don't get the impression that anyone here at WS is blaming her family.

It's obvious that she was into drugs before she met up with the killer.
She could very well have been influenced by her peers -- that's the usual avenue for kids who make unfortunate choices in life.

There are no winners here !!

No one is perfect... and my utmost condolences to her family - <modsnip>
:moo:

(Hi LietKynes,

I agree there are no winners here. I do however disagree that there's been no implied family blaming here, but that's okay, let's move forward. I like that we can have respectful, intelligent discussions here. We can agree to disagree, (o/t, just as you and I do in the flu shot thread--I'll take natural herb(s), pot dabs included, over a chemical flu shot any day, moo, anyway...))

Shades of Maddy, imo...

I still don't get this part:
The witness and Kaytlynn returned to Kaytlynn’s home, but Kaytlynn returned to the dog park about an hour later “to get the money,” according to the warrant.

Read more here: http://www.star-telegram.com/news/l...t-tarrant/article171348142.html#storylink=cpy

Because that part doesn't make sense. Source told police K was supposed to get the pot to turn into dabs, but run away. So what money was she going to get 1 hour later? Doesn't sound like she got the pot or made the dabs.

He chased her because she ran. The 'drugs' was a ploy to get her alone, it was a planned sex assault imho. He thought threatening with the hammer would bring compliance.. wrong.. she fought. He couldn't let her go after the first hit because she might/would tell.
<modsnip> He wasn't expecting murder.. that's why his story is jumbled..he made alot of it up.
The only thing that can be believed are the texts and phone records.

I think she meant the money she'd get if she made the dabs. So she needed to get the pot from him, so she could make dabs and 'get the money.'

So when she said she was going to 'get the money' ---I think she meant get the pot, which would eventually get her the cash.

It seems to me that since the suspect had been involved in 3 other violent incidents since 2015 indicate that the suspect either had a hair trigger temper or was just flat out mean. That fact along with the phone records, texts, & Kaytlynn's DNA should pretty much make this a slam dunk case. However, nothing in a criminal case especially involving a juvenile is ever certain. I just hope he is tried as an adult & sentenced to life without parole. No need to give him a chance to commit violence a 5th time. JMO
