So I have a question that may be stupid. First question is this baby being sold that horrible of a thing? The mom sounds like a bad person and if she gets to be with extended family or a good family in Mexico isn't that better than the alternative. That point is going on the assumption that the mother in behind this. Has anyone seen or interviewed the mother since. It's entirely possible that this whole thing was plotted by the mom to get the baby back from the Family friend knowing that CPS wouldn't allow her to get her back.

I'm hoping that the baby isn't hurt and goes to a good family. It's obvious she doesn't have a good mother.

I'm a little concerned about these other babies Mom posts about on her FB. Are they real, did they get sold or did she miscarry them all? No one comments on them.

I'm thinking yeah, a little 2 year old baby being sold to a man in Mexico doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

The mom didn't have custody of this child for a reason. She's apparently not a good mom. If the child is able to find a good family whereever she goes that may be better than the alternative of a lifetime of foster homes or back with the mom. I still think the Mom has a lot to do with this. It just seems very convienent that person who abducted the girl knew that the Leah was at the family friends because CPS had placed her there.

No Baby Leah today ? :( Come on little girl.

What would your guess be on selling a child that age? Would this be to some parents who cannot have their own
or would this be something much worse ? :( I wondered that about baby Lisa. When you think a 12 yr old might
be ' sold' , you can imagine the purposes behind it. But if a tiny child is sold,,,,,,,, surely not ?

Do they have an adoption system in Mexico? Is it corrupt and only those with tons of money can afford it? Don't know. I don't think a 2 year old being sold is as nefarious as say a 12 year old. I hope FBI is monitoring the mother full time. There are only a set amount of people that knew that Leah was living somewhere else as a result of child protective services and that they could "take her away" if they came.

So it appears that she has 2 children alive... Where she talks about her angels. There is 2 names. Then the others. I'm really confused.

Hi -

My heart sank when I heard this story yesterday :( While all kidnapped cases make me sad of course, this one really affected me b/c I used to be a CPS caseworker in Lbk....

I remember thinking many, many times how easy it would be for somene to kidnap a kid by just pretending to be a CPS caseworker. I have kids now and I would never even open the door to a CPS caseworker. This could also easily happen at a school or daycare center, as CPS caseworkers visit there as well, and the staff will believe whatevver they say. (Unless there's been some changes) When I was first hired, I had to pick up a baby at a daycare center for visit. I went there, I don't' think they even asked for my badge and got the baby. The staff had never met me. Even if they asked for my badge someone can easily make a fake one.

Back to the story :( I really hope she is found soon.

My theory.

I do not believe at this time she was trying to sell the baby.

Reasons why I think this:

1. CPS gets lots of false and malicious reports. All the news is saying is that she is being investigated for "trying to sell the baby". Any random person can call CPS and make up a report, perhaps an ex, jealous family member, neighbor who hears voices and has delusions, whoever. There is a chance there this is a malicous report.

2. If she truly was trying to sell her baby, why on earth would she stilll be in Lubbock, and at her own mothers house?

3. She would have deleted her facebook accounts if she was, to hide from CPS and the media.

4. If she truly wanted to sell her baby, she would have done this long before she reached the age of 2.

5. While I"m sure she has some serious parenting issues and the child was remved for vallid reasons, looking at her Facebook profiles show her as a mom who loves her baby. She also has a post that says "Jesus in Lord".

6. She gave her baby a godmother (she was on the news last night). Someone who gives their baby a godmother is not the type to try to sell her baby.

My theories:

1. She missed her baby so much and wanted her little girl home so she and an accomplice came up with this plan t get her baby back. Howeer, that theory does seem strange that she is still in Lubbock. It would make more sense for her to go to Florida or California or wherever.

2. The family that was caring for her killed her and made up this story of the fake CPS caseworker. I hope thats not true.

3. A pedophile who goes by Miguel and runs an online pedophile website found this opportunity to kidnap a little girl easily. Hope that ones not true as well. Perhaps he even made the false report about her trying to sell her baby.

Again, I'm sure this mother has some serious parenting issues, and needs help, and CPS probaby should have been involved.............................. but I do believe she loves her little girl and was not trying to sell her.

This last post doesn't make much sense at all honestly. You don't think that she was doing what she was investigated and temporarily lost her custody for doing? I'm ok with the possibility that she was falsely reported for trying to sell her baby but I'm going to trust CPS on this one. Had they thought it was a false report they wouldn't have gone the steps of having the baby stay with a family friend. It's possible that it was the babies father who if not in her life and had no custody rights wanted to get his daughter back and though he couldn't do it through legal means if she lost the child. I doubt it is some pedophile ring. How would they know that specific child is at that specific house and the mother is being investigated by CPS so they knew enough to pose as CPS.

Question is was the child placed at the family friends house by CPS pending the investigation or did the mom let the family friend see them that night?

This doesn't feel right and the feeling has to do with the month and only a limited number of people knew that CPS was investigating her.

I'm so shocked at seeing someone say they don't think selling a baby is such a bad thing, I just don't know what to say. I've fought for child victims for so long. Well, I just don't know what to say. I'm shocked.

I didn't say it wasn't bad. I was asking if this mother was so bad that she wanted to sell her baby then is it a possibility that the child will/would have a better life with a family that wants them than with that type of person.

Looking at it from the view of the child where is the child better off? With a mother that is willing to sell her? As a ward of the state? With a family in mexico who may not be able to adopt for whatever reason.

Hi - no, I do believe that CPS removed her for valid reasons. Perhaps neglect, drug abuse, etc. And the accusations that she was trying to sell her baby came later.

Sorry my post doesn't make much sense :(

I hope she is found ASAP.

Yes the pedophile ring theory is bizarre, maybe I've been watching too many episodes of Law and Order.

HOwever, someone could easily find out the details of the CPS case, that she was living there... I knw it is farfetched, but... I don't know a male nurse at her pediatricians clinic could be a pedophile (its possible, I've watched Oprah), learned that she was in temporary care, found out where she lived (in the doctors records) then found some random guy named Miguel off one of the pedpohile message boards (again, I've watched Oprah) to pose as the caseworker. Hopefully this all is not true.

I hope she is safe and healthy and has not been abused in these past few days.
