Also, I'm not from Texas nor have I driven in the Houston area. I have, however, driven in many other busy metro areas. And I always ALWAYS avoid driving thru the city center. For example, I swing around Chicago on 294 instead of driving straight thru on 90/94. The traffic is just so inconsistent that I could get caught for 2 hours in a jam near city center.

I would assume the same would be true for Houston. One would drive AROUND Houston up to the airport like Google maps recommends. Is there are reason one would drive straight thru the heart of Houston to go to the airport? I feel like if you're trying to get to the airport at a specific time and don't want to get caught in traffic, you're going to avoid 69.
This map only shows potential routes. We have no idea which route DV took (if he was ever near the airport at all).

Not that MSM has reported. But this is the second time in less than a year.

And only two months after being returned to mom.

This isn't rocket science.

Agreed, CPS is not going to remove children from a home for that amount of time for no reason. Also, a family member knows something because she didn't want the children to return to MOM AND DV! Now, we have a child missing with a nonsense story. "I'm sorry every one failed you sweet Maleah" ... MOO

Well said.

At the time of night he was going to the airport, driving through town would be fastest. Beltway 8 goes around town, but it is a tollway. Traffic during the day and night are two different beasts here. It takes a good hour to hour & half either way.

I remember BB2 (grandma) stating the weather was really bad on Friday night when she went to pick up her daughter from the airport.

Emph. mine

Maybe she thought that Maleah really did just fall from a chair ?
But Maleah was just three at the time, iirc.
Severe 'accidents' ; imo.

the lethargy on the 10th might indicate previous head injury but the diarrhea and vomiting blood would seem more likely (IMO not a dr.) to indicate an illness or an injury to the stomach, spleen, liver, something like that. Poor little punkin, she had a lot going on in her life for one so wee.

Oh I know - Google tends to show the "quickest" route unless you ask it to default to something else. He could have taken any number of ways to where he was going and had multiple stops along the way. Who knows. My question related to him seeming to have to drive thru the city center to get from where he lives (SW side) to where he claims he was abducted (NE side). It sounds like night driving in Houston isn't nearly as bad as some other metro areas I've been to. And avoiding tolls is definitely a good reason to not swing around the city.

'Stepdad' was there... was Maleah?
(NM - that's why you have to read the whole thing)
I wonder if the other child was there. Otherwise, why would he be there on Friday? MOO

So the Nissan is found about 6 miles from their apartment and on a main street right down from the hospital, yet something like 30 miles from the "kidnap" spot?

No such coincidence here.

Maleah was in daycare...

VIDEO: Jason Miles on Twitter
.. “The kids really miss Maleah.” @KHOU exclusive at 6:00: #MaleahDavis’s daycare lets me in to talk about missing 4 year-old. Staff last saw her in April.. But say stepdad was here the day he claims she was kidnapped. That’s Maleah’s cubby awaiting her return #khou11 #htownrush
4:09 PM - 9 May 2019 from Missouri City, TX

Well that's interesting. She wasn't at daycare for sure Wed-Friday. But he showed up Friday?

Finally, still living with mom, boyfriend, and grandma, she was taken to the hospital in August, 2019, for a horrible head injury and bleeding in her brain.

@gitana1 , great post, but just wanted to point out within editing time that you accidentally typed the current year instead of 2018. :)

He was "looking" for her...... Omg.
So that's why he showed up w/o her.
Terrible.

Khou11's updated timeline.

Where is Maleah Davis? Timeline in the disappearance of 4-year-old Houston girl
[...]

Thursday, 12:10 p.m.: KHOU 11 Investigates has learned that Vence and Maleah's mother, Brittany Bowens, are banned from having any contact with their son or any of the Bowens’ other children. The ruling came during an emergency hearing Wednesday.

Thursday, 10:40 a.m. Maleah's mother is consoled by detectives after she shows up at scene where her husband's missing cars was found. "Where is my baby?," she cried.

Thursday, 10:30 a.m.: Police searched the trunk for evidence in the case, but didn't find any evidence.

"The car looks fine, everything on the car looks normal, the tires look OK," a law enforcement officer said. "Doesn't mean they weren't changed at some point. I don't know anything on that, really."

Thursday, 10:20 a.m.: Missouri City police confirm the missing car belonging to Maleah stepfather has been found. Eqqusearch volunteers say they found it in a strip center parking lot near Highway 6 and Riverstone Blvd.

Thursday a.m.: The owner of Maleah's daycare told KHOU that they haven't seen her since April 26. The owner said Vence picked up his son Friday but Maleah wasn't with him.

Thursday a.m.: The search for 4-year-old Maleah Davis has resumed, Texas Equusearch said Thursday morning.

They had probable cause (head injury) to suspect abuse. The children were given to a different relative during this time. Then the children were given back to parents.

I think whatever caused the injury is irrelevant. It just makes any potential abuse after the fact potentially that much more dangerous. I see no definite reason to throw shade at the mother's actions or decision making at this time. And I ask anyone posting about past incidents or abuse by DV that the mother should have been aware of to link them.

Why did missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis need brain surgery?

I'll be curious to watch that report at six the tweet refers to. Curious to know why he was there. I wonder tho, Maleah has a sibling (5 yr old brother referred to in other news stories) and half sibling (DV and BB son)

Did either of those brothers attend the same daycare? Were they there but Maleah not or, if students there were the brothers also absent since April?

They obviously didn't follow the CPS plan. We've seen this in other cases, if placed with family the "rules" get ignored. Especially if family doesn't feel the parents are guilty of anything. The poor Aunt, I'm sure she feels awful right about now.

I'm still catching up - the thread is moving so fast - so please excuse me if this has already been mentioned.

There's been no indication that Maleah was wearing the safety helmet ordered by the doctors. She was supposed to wear it for at least 12 months and maybe up to 24 months while she healed. So until August of this year or longer.

WTH is the excuse for not following the doctors' orders? That's a heckuva rule to ignore IMO.
Doctors had to perform a “craniectomy to relieve pressure” and remove half of her skull, according to documents. When Maleah got out of ICU, doctors ordered that she wear a helmet for 12-24 months while she healed. Doctors said the injury and explanation did not add up and suspected abuse, according to court records.

Why did missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis need brain surgery?

ETA: Oops, I see member diggingdeeperstill already mentioned it.

I'm so disgusted with these people! That beautiful girl, no child should ever have to endure treatment like that.

On another note - I've seen a map but is there a more detailed map that shows their appt, the hospital, where he says he was jumped, the airport, and where the car was found?

All IMO

They had reason to believe BB was neglectful. I believe child neglect is a form of child ABUSE. MOO

“Maleah Davis suffered traumatic brain injury with evidence of more than one injury while in the possession of her mother Brittany Bowens and the mother’s paramour, Derion Vence,” court records read. “Neither caregiver had an explanation that was consistent with the injury.”

The caseworker with CPS eventually concluded there was “reason to believe” there was “neglectful supervision” on Bowens’ part, but nothing more. In the end, “the doctor could not confirm whether or not injuries were caused by abuse,” court records read.

CPS has had temporary custody of Maleah since August. But a judge in February ordered a “monitored return” home to Bowens, where “the caseworker could go at least once a month to check on the family,” according to CPS spokeswoman Tiffani Butler.

The court also ordered that Maleah's parents take a parenting class. According to records, neither has completed that.
