So when they went in . . . did they not smell the bleach?? How did they not notice anything? Or did they??? and when DV came back - an altercation caused a head injury and the story/plan/CYA began to build after that? Just MOO

The entire story, from both adults, has had a large number of things that never added up.

HPD: Blood evidence linked to Maleah Davis found in stepfather's apartment
Blood evidence obtained from the apartment of missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis' estranged stepfather has been linked to the girl, according to Houston police detectives.

[...]

HPD detectives say in addition to blood evidence linked to Maleah being found at the apartment, Vence was also seen carrying a laundry basket from the apartment.

Vence's silver Nissan Altima was recovered in Missouri City on Thursday.

The laundry basket was found in the trunk of the Nissan along with a gas can, according to HPD.

[...]
Woefully behind and skipping around to catch up...

So DV's now in custody for evidence tampering. Good. Often LE will arrest a suspect for other infractions but it appears DV has a clean record - in TX anyway, I do wonder if there isn't something floating around elsewhere.

What a story this tells. Blood evidence in the apartment, the laundry basket and a gas can. What a heartless SOB this man is!

ETA: I wonder who dropped DV off at the hospital??
ETA2: In the Altima.

I do too. But, CBS and everyone I read were correcting the timeline saying “Police said it was May 5” so I kindve took their word since it was just a couple hours ago.

DRUGS-When people make no sense it's a big sign.
There is no evidence of drugs linked to this case. But typically liars have a tough time keeping their lies straight.....

At the end of this article:
“Anyone with information on this case, the whereabouts of Maleah Davis, or who knows who sold the gas can (pictures above) to Vence is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.l

We could work on figuring out who sold the gas can. It looks like someone wrote part of the price on the price tag. That makes me think of a smaller hardware store vs a big box chain store. JMO

Oh, I didn't see that. If this is recent that so many sources are correcting the timeline all of a sudden then maybe it is true. Now I'm confused all over again.

It isn’t true. The video time says 11 something May 4. Unless that proves to be wrong.

First I heard anything about bleach was yesterday. I don't know if BB and/or BB2 smelled it or not. I don't know how they could have missed it, though. Perhaps they didn't think anything of it since he said he'd been cleaning? I dunno. I think his head injury was self-inflicted (it's looked like a head butt to me since the first time I saw it) but you never know. MOO

Bolding mine

^^^ Yes, you're right.

The first time she tried to get in, the apartment was locked and she didn't have her key. So the maintenance person let her in.
It looks like she went in there again later.
I was also wondering if she had a spare key inside for the other times she accessed the home ?

There's a reason for these questions since I've an idea about why she wanted inside when she knew at this time Maleah was already missing.
Possibly to get rid of something of DV's ?
Other possibilities as well.

Well, I think she was with LE when she went in. Because her kids & DV were missing.
I think DV took his “stuff” when he left but she may have wanted to check & see if she needed to do more clean up. Idk date they officially determined apt unit a crime scene.

Shout out to the reporter who doesn't give DV the undeserved title of "step-father!" :)

The title to this thread says stepfather. The banner on the main page says stepfather also.

The odor of a cleaning chemical isn’t cause for alarm, in itself, imo. Plus the smell might have dissipated.

I cannot wait to find out who was driving the Altima when it dropped DV off at the hospital with his 1 year old son. I am also wondering who picked him up after he was examined and his son was taken care of (it had been 24 hours, he must have needed food and diaper change) . . . and where did they take him. I haven't heard or seen anything about BB seeing her baby boy since she came back from the funeral. Lots of things to wonder about.

Maleah Davis' stepfather, Derion Vence, taken into custody

I wonder what kind of flooring they have.

The cameras in the photo of him carrying the 'laundry' out... did those same cameras catch him coming back into the apartment with a wound or bruise on his head ?

Hard to tell if there's a 'face' in the basket. Doubtful as the plastic wouldn't cling to her face like that ?
And he's not stupid enough to have her face in full view. Of course one never knows.

But the appearance of bloodstains on the side of his pants... :(

BB thought DV was still circling IAH or sitting at the cell phone lot with two kids in a thunderstorm at midnight.
(So her car was not there)

Goes home with her mom to bed.

Next morning, her car still not there (?) BB thinks DV and kids are sleeping.
Maintenance guy lets her in.

Doesn’t freak out that they still aren’t at home and noticeable bleach smell.

I’m not buying it.

DV walked into the hospital between 11 pm and midnight on Saturday, May 4. That is one part of the timeline that has not changed since the story first broke.

The media that is reporting it was Sunday are wrong. People here that keep bringing it up are causing the confusion.

See timeline on page 1 of this thread.
