Ok, this answers the search at a canal at Independence Park in Missouri City last night.
ABC13 Houston on Twitter

You all must think the area around Houston is a frightful place to live. So many awful stories constantly on the news.

If neighbor saw DV on Saturday evening at the apartment, why didn't BB also see him?

We know BB was active on SM on Saturday posting about her missing family but do we know where BB was on Saturday afternoon to midnight?

Was BB the female that drove DV to the hospital Saturday night?
Given that only one witness saw him I am not convinced that it wasn't someone else or at a different time / date. As dim as he seems I don't see why he would be smoking outside the apartment at that moment.

It's possible that BB drove DV to the hospital in the grey Nissan, is it not? She arrived home Friday, but DV didn't go to the hospital until late Saturday evening.

Yes...its possible.
Agreed -- maybe she has thought better about it since if she did. Is she now in a defensive mode? Do we know where her head is about this now? (Do we care?)

Welcome to Websleuths,

Hold on! I thought BB left Tues. the 30th. WTH is going on? This isn't helping.

Thank goodness we have a member here who is keeping a timeline up to date. Perhaps the article was a misprint, and they will correct the article later or somebody will contact the station to see what is going on.

Neighbor's surveillance video shows stepfather alone same day of Maleah Davis' disappearance

Hmm, so more video of DV from Tuesday shows him going to his vehicle alone. Who was in the apartment and what was their status at this point?

In the video interview with the neighbor, she states she saw DV 7 p.m. Saturday smoking outside as she was leaving with her family. She said he didn't have any " bruise or anything at all" and pointed to her mid-forehead.

Report doesn't mention any surveillance video from Saturday.

I would bet there is video. And LE knows who came and went and who was there together. DV, BB, and whoever else will not be able to explain it away.

Has anyone come across a live feed for today’s hearing?
It should be happening soon, right?

Agreed. I think he's done some good things for the community, his anti-semitism notwithstanding, but he's not a lawyer and lacks the finesse, IMO, to be able to advocate for a person in that situation.

Unless she's not who he's ultimately truly advocating for.
BBM . You have given me much to think about with this statement. Hmmm indeed.

I agree. Just because LE isn't announcing everything it doesn't mean they're not investigating. I think there are many (awful) details not yet released. MOO.

The charging docs say it was verified she left on 4/30. "The defendant stated and your affiant has verified via flight records that on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, the defendant's girlfriend/Bowens left the state via airplane and was set to return on May 3, 2019, leaving defendant to care for the children."
yep, exactly why I am sticking with that date as date of departure despite teh new org's "verification" otherwise.

Although it is strange the funeral home quotes "Saturday, April 27th."

There had been discussion previously that she was in town when her dad died. Maybe she was there and flew back Sunday? But then why would she fly back again Tuesday - Friday?

It seems like a weird "typo" when they include the day of the week....

Wait. Who verified the 27th?

Sotos’ surveillance camera caught Vence briefly walking over to his car alone on the day Maleah’s mother had flown out of state. Soto said she remembers clearly not noticing the bruise on Vence's head the same night Maleah was reported missing.

“I looked at him and he went back into his apartment. And I looked at him, but he didn't have a big bruise or anything at all,” said Soto. Neighbor's surveillance video shows stepfather alone same day of Maleah Davis' disappearance

So at 7pm ish on Saturday night, just hours before Maleah was reported missing and many many hours after his alleged abduction, DV was at the apartment complex sporting zero evidence of a noggin knocker.

If this witness is correct on her date time, then it should be on video, hopefully he got close enough to that camera for a good view of his pristine unassaulted forehead.

Thank you. Weird.
Agreed. I could see a typo, but to add "Saturday" which corresponds with the 27th is just strange....it makes me think the funeral was the 27th. And if the funeral home is verifying she was there, why did she fly back to Texas for only a couple days before flying to MA again for a few days?

Even if he had injuries on his forehead, being at his apartment at this time doesn’t match at all with his story. His goose is totally cooked and burned!

I wondered about this last night. W/o video/photo documentation, we can’t assume he was there. After the fact, it is common for someone to confuse sightings/dates/times, imo. Surely LE found a wealth of video leading to the apartment complex entry & can verify.
Moo

so sorry you went through this and probably will still struggle through it for a long time. I am in my 40s. Still coming to terms with the abuse (I've just recognized it for what it really was this year) I suffered with growing up. I think our entire culture needs a shift in our understanding if what abuse looks like. In MD's case, there was no criminal background in either parent, no drug use that I am aware of, they appeared well cared for to daycare professionals, yet that little girl lived a nightmare. As adults, we need to risk being a little uncomfortable sometimes and press the issue further. No more turning a blind eye and calling it "discipline" or cultural differences. Kids need to see that people really care what happens to them. No parenting classes. These people feel justified in what they do. Why can't we criminalize child abuse? We might take someone's parental rights, but why not jail time, a felony? If someone did these things to adults, the outcome would be different. Children need to have that same respect and protection at the least. Moo.

Thank you. It’s challenging but we’re doing the work of healing now!

I agree that something- many things- have to change. I don’t understand how Maleah was left in her home- so many people must have turned a blind eye or stifled their concerns or signed off on something questionable or...

I hope she’s found today.

One way I think I could help, is getting involved in child advocacy work, in the courts. I’m looking into that now. And I do talk to parents at every opportunity about “gentle discipline” and teaching body autonomy to their children, but that’s not enough. We need change at a systematic level, imo...
