You made a lot of great points and indeed DV is clearly not the brightest bulb, but I just wanted to point out that I'm pretty sure it was stated that the blood found in the apartment by LE was NOT visable to the eye. They used luminol in order to see the blood in the hallway and in the bathroom.
So despite his stupidity it does seem like he went to great lengths to cover up the physical evidence on the home.
If it's true they found blood and tissue in the pipes, then at least we know he is not smart enough to know that it can easily be detected there despite trying to wash it down. Imo
Maybe I am misinterpreting what I have heard/read - but I keep coming across drops of blood being found, and then MORE found with the use of luminol, which sounds to me as if the drops were not tended to.
"Houston detectives found drops of blood in the hallway that led to the bathroom and on surfaces in the bathroom.
Investigators discovered evidence of more blood by using a "chemical reagent" that reacts to the presence of blood that may not be visible to the eye, such as when a person has attempted to clean it up, the documents state." (BBM)
