So if I have this straight "Grandma" really isn't a blood related "Grandma". She is the Mother of said boyfriend of 4 months. Lordy!
Yes, this is how I understand it as well.

Maliyah Bass: Police brace for murder investigation, tell family to ‘prepare for the worst’ after tot’s body found in bayou

August 24, 2020

Although authorities have not officially identified a toddler found deceased on Sunday as Maliyah Bass, they’re telling the child’s parents to prepare for the worst.

BBM: When they say "parents" I wonder if that means Maliyah's mom and bio dad or are they referring to the boyfriend as the "father". After a short 4 months that seems rather inappropriate. Is it just me thinking that way?

Yeah it’s kind of bothered me that he and his mother were criticizing LE response right off the bat. Almost like deflecting—steering attention toward LE. But it could also just be frantic worry & frustration & nothing would have been fast enough. But in this case LE seemed to be so on it that it doesn’t make much sense. I don’t know but it’s bothering me.
I am extremely impressed with LE on this case. They have done a phenomenal job, and have given due respect to Texas Equasearch as well.
Texas LE knows how to saddle up and get the job done.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I agree and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't TES waits until asked by LE to start a search? So that would mean that LE reached out to them in the first 24 hours. It's seems LE was being very proactive in this case.

I was very surprised when I heard Texas Equusearch was already involved. That’s the fastest I ever heard.

"My girl put her in the park." Not, they went to the park. Not, my girl took her to the park.

My girl put her in the park.

Bf also talks about the landlady being involved in sex crimes and being let out the next day. Okay. Yet you leave a 2 year old unattended after your girl "put" her in the park???

I haven't found any info on when this child was last seen by neighbors or friends. Has anyone else?
Neighbors and friends are saying a lot on social media nothing official but it doesn't look good I feel like arrests will be made very soon

Praying for justice for sweet little Maliyah!

I don't read other SM sites, but I hope it's not gossip and there will be an arrest very soon.

This sweet little baby girl deserves swift justice. Tootie looks so sweet, and lovable. Anyone who could do this deserves the harshest punishment allowed.

Are you saying there will be more than one arrested?

They may have reached out so quickly based on the amount of known RSOs living nearby or perhaps there'a new resident who is a dangerous offender with a history and similar MO. OTOH, if they suspect anyone in particular who was within Tootie's known circle of acquaintances they may have noticed muddy/soaked shoes/clothing/carpet, etc. There is so much we don't know right now. Imo, this case can go either way considering neither of the two types of crimes suspected in this case have more of a chance than the other of having occurred, it seems. They're both happening with such frequency in today's age. :(

What part of Texas does Tim live in?

Yes, it seems LE knew right away this wasnt going to end well. :(

Has LE said when they expect the autopsy to be completed? Did they say they are going to release the results?

Tia!

It's weird to me that they haven't put out an positive ID yet. If she was found within 24 hours I'd think they'd be able to visually tell it is her depending on what shape she is in.

Texas EquuSearch can be requested by LE or the missing persons family according to their website.

“Requests for Texas EquuSearch’s assistance must be made by the family of the missing person and/or the law enforcement agency handling the case. If the family requests our help, law enforcement MUST approve our assistance after the request is made by the family.“

Watched videos of boyfriend several times. He speaks of the child numerous times in the past tense. She was smart. She was growing up to be something. Not once does he utter the child's name. Lots of theatrics and sobbing, but no actual tears.

I'm on high alert over here. jmo

I noticed the exact same. Reminded me a lot of Delano Wilson's dad.

It's definitely not just you. You barely even know a person at 4 months.

Not in my opinion. 4 months is not long enough to earn these titles. IMO Yet we see it all the time here.

I believe TX EquuSearch is based somewhere around the Houston area so this could be partly why they were involved so quickly.

eta. So they’re in Dickinson, TX which is south of Houston.
