The mom went inside to fix a sandwich, leaving the boyfriend outside with Maliyah in a little park?

From what he says, he called Maliyah's mom because they hadn't eaten yet, so the mom came inside for just 5 minutes to fix them a sandwich. So in 4 months he's taught 2 year old Maliyah her ABC's, her 123's and how to get home from different locations, but hasn't yet taught himself how to make a sandwich MOO

If he called Maliyah’s mom, then she wasn’t at the park with Maliyah and the boyfriend?
The boyfriend kept saying it was only 5 minutes and she was gone?
Did the boyfriend go inside too?

The boyfriend was inside the whole time. The mom took Maliyah to the park. He called her from inside. Mom then left Maliyah to go make sandwiches. That’s my understanding of what’s been said. Someone correct me if not.

No, that's exactly how I heard it too. He stayed home while Maliyah and mom went to the park, then he called mom to come back to the apartment to make him a sandwich

That’s how I heard it also. Like he was royally and starving mum had to return that moment. I’m sure he said “because we didn’t eat”. Did he mean himself and mom or was someone else at home hungry too? Bit strange.

If it was only “a few minutes“ that mum popped inside the house one would assume the child was playing with someone or there were at least adults around they knew and trusted so she could say “hey are you okay to watch her for 5 mins“ kind of thing.

Even if the park was right there in view of the kitchen window - a child can still go missing when you have eyes down for even a few seconds at a time.

Staying on the fence for now. Just struggling to make sense of some aspects at the moment.

Do we have any photos of the play area? I had a look on Google maps but can't see a play area near the apartments? Only a pool?

Nor can I. I've been all around the immediate area on Google map and Google earth and can't even spot a pair of swings or a slide in a grassed area or anything. I wonder if Grandma calls a communal grassed area, whether it large or small, a park?

ETA or a communal parking area - park lot?

Brays Bayou borders the northern part of Arthur Storey Park. (The park is just north of the complex.)

Surely they can't mean she was playing "right there" at Arthur Storey Park . It's a 27 minute walk away. There must be a smaller play area that we just can't see.

Maybe he was talking about the 15+ miles distant that Maliyah's body was found.
that's exactly as I was thinking - he meant she was found 15 miles from where they lived.

Not surprised in the least at what has occurred. Poor little thing. Another one to add to the list.

Not sure I will be sticking around for this one. Between Maleah, Gannon and Cupcake, I'm not sure I have it in me right now to follow another child murder.

So incredibly sad.

Imo, the "park" is right behind grandma in this video interview. It appears as though the "park" is actually a playground area within the apartment complex rather than an actual city park.

So, was it confirmed the body found is Maliyah or not?

I just checked in this morning and was so sad to see that her (presumed) body was found.

The fact that she was found 15 miles away from the site where she was last seen, and concealed in water, is highly significant to me. I recently read a study about patterns of body disposal and offenders who transport a body some distance like this and also attempt to conceal it MAY be trying to obfuscate a relationship between themselves and the victim. So if it turns out she was abducted, LE is going to want to look at nearby neighbors or acquaintances who have access to transportation, etc. Along with the usual course of the investigation where they try to eliminate family.

Screams foul play. 2 year olds have no sense of direction IMO. Not sure when she was to turn 3 years old but even still.

I'm confused. From this Fox26 account, the mother was inside the apartment watching Maliyah from the window. She looked away for a moment and Maliyah was gone.
Mother of missing 2-year-old fearing the worst as a child was found floating in Brays Bayou

KPRC interview with mother's boyfriend, he states that he was sitting inside playing a game and should have been watching her.
‘High probability’ body found in Brays Bayou is that of missing 2-year-old, chief says

In a previous account (I can't remember which local news station), the mother went inside to make lunch for a few minutes.

The separate live interviews with the mother and her boyfriend are very interesting to watch.

I hope I linked and posted this correctly. Please correct if necessary.

If Maliyah was last seen at 9:30am on Saturday morning the sandwich was a breakfast sandwich. At risk of sounding very British, that's bacon, eggs or pancakes. The mind boggles.

  • #197
It could have been a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Maybe Maliyah and her mom had a weekend sleep in and got up late. Or decided to play a bit.

Was he saying he needed to eat or Maliyah? I need to listen again and transcribe it out. I am not familiar at all with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and whether they are an adult breakfast. My point really was if mum isn't in and is out playing how can the bf not manage an egg or bacon. Getting fixated on this sandwich now me. I need to have a nap.

Well, this is the first time I've seen a regional amber alert - but when I read about it still says LE consider it to be an abduction. :( So is a regional alert the same criteria except it's limited to the state? Does anyone know? No vehicle or adult is listed.

Morning all!

I'm sincerely sorry if I posted misinformation about Tootie being abducted.

I've only read the posts here on her forum. I don't participate in any other SM sites.

When I saw this posted by NewMama:

(Quote)"but when I read about it still says LE consider it as an abduction,"

I assumed, (yes I know I shouldn't have done so) it was in reference to what LE had stated about Tootie's case.

Again, I'm sorry. I wouldn't ever purposefully mislead anyone.

If this is her, 15 miles away, and concealed in water, how did they find her so quickly?
