If this is her, 15 miles away, and concealed in water, how did they find her so quickly?

In the press conference they said a lady jogger spotted her and called her husband who came and confirmed it and then they called it in to the police.

I'm confused. From this Fox26 account, the mother was inside the apartment watching Maliyah from the window. She looked away for a moment and Maliyah was gone.
Mother of missing 2-year-old fearing the worst as a child was found floating in Brays Bayou

KPRC interview with mother's boyfriend, he states that he was sitting inside playing a game and should have been watching her.
‘High probability’ body found in Brays Bayou is that of missing 2-year-old, chief says

In a previous account (I can't remember which local news station), the mother went inside to make lunch for a few minutes.

The separate live interviews with the mother and her boyfriend are very interesting to watch.

I hope I linked and posted this correctly. Please correct if necessary.

Dang, the interview with BF is all over the place. Sex trafficking? Prostitution? Was he saying he thought Maliyah's disappearance is connected to those things? Hard for me to understand him.

Agree with you. Then the part where he starts talking about how he just taught her how to find her way home. I thought that was really odd. I don't know if the beginning of his interview in these articles made it or if that was another interview, but he also talks about how the police weren't doing their jobs to look for her. How the dog passed out and the helicopter ran out of gas.

I'm not sure she was "concealed". It seems as though she was floating. From the link in @SugarLandCatLady's post: RSBBM

“They should of took me. They found my baby on an orange float floating down the bayou,” she says.

Morning all!

I'm sincerely sorry if I posted misinformation about Tootie being abducted.

I've only read the posts here on her forum. I don't participate in any other SM sites.

When I saw this posted by NewMama:

(Quote)"but when I read about it still says LE consider it as an abduction,"

I assumed, (yes I know I shouldn't have done so) it was in reference to what LE had stated about Tootie's case.

Again, I'm sorry. I wouldn't ever purposefully mislead anyone.

Jmho
No problem. I hope I didn't make it seem as though I was calling you out on that post. I had hoped you read it somewhere. I still think I read/heard it in an article or in the press conference but apparently I didn't. Thanks for clarifying! :)

Yes. Strange thing to add in near the end. Also the beginning - a dog fainted or did he mean an attending officer fainted as in “dawg fainted” ?

Police say they believe they've recovered the body of 2-year-old Maliyah Bass from a Houston bayou a day after her family reported her missing.

On Sunday morning at about 10:30 a.m., a jogger spotted a body floating near Brays Bayou.

Officers and water rescue teams arrived on the scene and pulled the body from the water. At 11:19 a.m., the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maliyah, known to relatives as "Tootie," was reported missing on Saturday morning, according to police.

Houston authorities say the body was found 25 miles from where Maliyah vanished.

At this point, investigators say they believe foul play was involved in Maliyah's disappearance.

The girl was playing at her apartment complex's playground when she went missing...

Thank you for posting the interviews. I agree that they are very interesting. Unfortunately I'm having trouble understanding much of what the boyfriend is saying. I do get the point he is trying to make however. That being that he was a good father, loved her and taught her a great deal in the four months he's been with the family. And that not enough was done to find her when she initially disappeared.

I’m not sure why the bf and grandma keep saying LE didn’t do enough to find her. They came right away, brought in dogs, helicopter. Heck even TX EquuSearch was searching right away.

Mother of missing 2-year-old fearing the worst as a child was found floating in Brays Bayou

“They should of took me. They found my baby on an orange float floating down the bayou,” she says.
...

Investigators say they will pull info on the flow of the river, but because of its length, they need anyone with security cameras along Brays Bayou to take a look at their security footage and contact police at 713-222-TIPS if they see anything suspicious.
So it looks like they aren’t ruling out that she could have gone in the bayou closer to home. It seems if she was in some type of “float” that it may have been possible for her to travel some distance?

Very odd. Wondering why they have not officially identified her and what this orange float was.

Yes very weird. If you were going to dump a body you wouldn’t put it on something to make it float!

I find it very strange. Putting her on a float almost feels like a caring gesture to me. It's very unusual.

All of this is very strange. From what people have posted the bayou isn’t exactly a flowing river. So I just cannot imagine a body floating 15 miles in a matter of hours. Not getting hung up in 15 miles of non flowing water? But she was on a float when they found her? I’m so confused.

Foul play. Ugh. I'm still really hoping that this was neglect and/or "went into the house for 5 minutes to fix lunch" as the boyfriend says. That Maliyah's last memories were of playing in the playground. Maybe finding and "trying out" an orange floatie. How close is the Bayou? How plausible is it she could have found her way there on her own?

FWIW, those pictures seems recent and she looks happy and cutely dressed. But agree with other posters - I don't know what to make of the BF interviews.

Dang, the interview with BF is all over the place. Sex trafficking? Prostitution? Was he saying he thought Maliyah's disappearance is connected to those things? Hard for me to understand him.

ETA - your post made me think - do we definitely know it was just a few hours? Anyone else see Maliyah in the playground? Could she have wondered off much earlier? It's a bad day when one is hoping for neglect. Also could she have drowned if she was "on a floatie." Too many unknowns here.

All of this is very strange. From what people have posted the bayou isn’t exactly a flowing river. So I just cannot imagine a body floating 15 miles in a matter of hours. Not getting hung up in 15 miles of non flowing water? But she was on a float when they found her? I’m so confused.

So, for the purposes of investigation, "concealed" was defined in the article I read as put into water (not necessarily weighed down for example). It's just to make a distinction between that and totally left in plain sight. If she was floating, it was likely going to happen anyway due to body decomposition so thus far it doesn't tell us much about what the perpetrator may have done.

None of it makes sense at this point. Methinks we are missing some valuable information.
