Found Deceased TX - Mariadelis Labrador Siles, 28, SAN ANTONIO, March 10, 2025

I find it highly unlikely that a Machete would have been used to stab ones self in the chest. If so I would expect the Machete to be found near the victim or even stuck in the victim. Not leaning against a tree with other utensils. far enough away from the victim that apparently the Machete was not discovered when the body found, since the article says authorities were called back out after these items were found.

Unless her DNA was found on the Machete handle or a trail of blood leading from the Machete to where her body was found I can't see how she could have used the Machete to kill herself if that is the item that inflicted her wounds.

The Shovel could have been left by someone who was planning on burying the body, but for what ever reason didn't get that done and left those items behind.

I agree. The stab wound to the chest was IMO likely in the mid/upper chest area due to her height relative to her attacker who statistically could be male and taller. This wound then would have likely caused penetrative thoracic trauma. But I do not believe it was the machete but rather a flat edged weapon such as a knife, removed or not found at the scene (possible blood and fingerprint evidence?) In principle, due to the blade area of the machete (as opposed to a knife) any extraction from the thoracic area would likely result in catastrophic hemorrhage (which is why if you are at an accident or crime scene and someone has a large piece of glass, metal or such sticking out of their chest first responders don't remove it).
So yes, a machete in the chest is often fatal, however, that sudden blood loss from the removal would make it highly likely that she could have moved the machete. (The information provided the machete was found "in the area" implying not close to the body). As for the shovel - someone likely planned on a burial of persons or evidence but for whatever reason did not do so at the time, again my opinion only or the items are not related to her death at all.

"Our Missing Persons Unit and homicide unit were out working a missing persons case. One of our missing persons investigators was walking through the woods, as this was an area that would that we were concentrating our efforts on, and we did find a body of a female," explained Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. "Last night, we were working with with a private organization that they do search and rescue. They have search dogs. Those dogs were able to bring us to this general area, and then, for some reason, they lost the scent."

Investigators don't believe the machete and shovel are connected to her death.

Could be homeless people, hikers who clean up the area, or teens who do drugs in the brush etc. We have lots of homeless people living along creek beds. All three of those groups could possibly use a machete to remove brush.

I doubt the homeless are clearing brush, unless it would be to use for a fire to cook or keep warm. They don't even pick up or burn their trash.

Kids clearing the brush to do drugs. Again don't think so.

If the Machete is not connected to her death, and since there has been no mention of a weapon found near her body that she could have used to inflict the chest wound which caused her death, this is looking more like a homicide IMO.

Here is a timeline of everything we know in this case so far:

Monday, March 10

Mariadelis Labrador Siles, 28, was reported missing to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on March 10.

Siles was last seen at approximately 9 a.m. by her boyfriend, BCSO said.

BCSO said on social media that the woman’s boyfriend believed she may have walked to Wildhorse Sports Park, and she would frequent St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church on Roft Road.

Siles left the residence without her wallet and cell phone, BCSO later said.

Tuesday, March 11

BCSO announced Siles as a missing person in a Facebook post approximately 24 hours after she was last seen.

The Missing Persons Unit began an investigation in the northwest Bexar County area on Tuesday night. Siles was believed to have been in the search area.

A search occurred Tuesday night near Braun Road, outside of Loop 1604, BCSO said.

BCSO’s Homicide Unit and Alamo Area Search & Rescue assisted in the investigation and used dogs to trace the missing woman’s scent.

Wednesday, March 12

Investigators discovered a woman’s body in a wooded area off Braun Road and Mustang Ranch early Wednesday morning.

BCSO initially did not say that they were searching for Siles, but after the discovery, Sheriff Javier called a news briefing.

BCSO could not initially confirm the identity of the body found.

Salazar said what they found seemed to match the missing person details.

A weapon was found at the scene, but authorities did not elaborate due to the “preliminary stages of the investigation,” BCSO said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body to be a 28-year-old woman with signs of trauma.

Thursday, March 13

A shovel and machete were recovered in the vicinity away from the crime scene the next day, BCSO said.

BCSO said it collected the items as evidence, though investigators believed they were not connected to the investigation.

Friday, March 14

The Medical Examiner’s office identified the body as Siles on Friday.

The ME’s office said that Siles died from a stab wound to the chest.

All I knows is the E-N article says that investigators don't believe the machete and shovel are related to her death.

A BCSO spokesperson told the San Antonio Express-News that investigators also recovered a shovel and machete near where the body was found. While they do not believe the items are connected to the death, they are continuing to investigate.

Just hypothesizing how the machete and shovel could get there, since investigators are currently saying they are not related.

Homeless people will get their hands on whatever they can get their hands on. (This is not a good homeless site, but a few could have wondered in and out)
People do clear the trails, but a machete would not be very practical.

Just saying that investigators are saying they don't believe the machete and shovel are related to her death. Just repeating what is said...

The silence about this case is very strange.

Nothing has been released about the "manner of death"

She's not even listed on the Medical Examiners site!

Weird....

The Sheriff's office is (finally?) asking neighbors to check their surveillance cameras. Seriously, it has been nearly ten days; shouldn't this request have come sooner?

BCSO asks neighbors to check cameras for possible videos of woman found dead

"Investigators are asking people who live in the neighborhood to check their security cameras for videos, specifically between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. last Monday, March 10.

"They said Siles was wearing tan shorts with a blue long-sleeved, zippered sweatshirt."

Does this mean she went for a walk in the morning when she went missing?

I posted up thread an article that reported she went for a walk at 9:00 PM

LE has never made it clear at what time she went missing, but are now asking for video in the time frame of 9 AM.

The area of interest for video/camera footage includes the surrounding streets and cross streets of Cactus Valley, County Shadow, Dawn Trail, Shetland Bend, Arabian Bend, and Mustang Ranch Parkway

“She was only 28; like my daughter,” Myers reflected on the young woman who arrived in the United States in February 2024. Myers described Labrador as a "kind and spiritual" individual who seldom ventured far from home.

"We only walked around this block, nothing more. We never went far, just stayed close," Myers recounted. Language barriers posed daily challenges for Mariadelis, who relied heavily on Myers for translation and navigating everyday situations. Given this dependence, Myers doubted that Mariadelis would have traveled alone the mile-long distance from her home to the wooded area where her body was discovered. Authorities have not yet determined if Mariadelis's death was a suicide or homicide.
*"Mariadelis Labrador was a cheerful, kind, gentle girl with a pure heart. A daughter, sister, and friend whom many will miss. We want to take her back home, where she belongs, to her family who is waiting for her in a condition in which no parent should ever receive their daughter,"

"We deeply appreciate all the support and kindness from those who have backed this fundraising effort; our sole objective here is to bring it home and cover the costs of all the funeral arrangements,"
What is known about the death of the Cuban Mariadelis Labrador three weeks after her body was found in Texas?

"She's in a relationship with somebody here, and I don't think it's a marital. It's a romantic relationship of some sort," said Salazar. "But again, that person is what we wouldn't call him necessarily a suspect in anything at this point, until such time as we can determine a little bit more information."
