San Antonio police Chief William McManus said officers were responding to a call for a burglary at a house on the 200 block of West Ridgewood Court about 8:30 a.m. when they made the discovery.

A young woman who rents a section of the house told police that she had fallen asleep the night before while the victim and another man were in the home, the chief said.

“There is no one running around this neighborhood burglarizing houses,” McManus said. “I think we'll get this guy pretty quick.”

Well this is a no brainer. Blood splatter and items were stolen and no sign of a break in.

Chief McManus is fond of the "We'll get our man" construct in easy cases - after
all, those are the ones you're supposed to solve, and LE usually does. Never a
bad idea to calm the populace. (McManus has been an excellent chief - came
to S.A. from a position in D.C., and has worked hard to change the face of what
was once a dire department.)
