Im happy in the last photo of Oliver and Daddy that both seemed very happy to spend this time together.
Oliver will come to know what happened to his Dad as he grows. Very sad.

This answers a lot of questions.
Has a picture of inside the boat with a string of fish he caught, says Oliver's footprints were found beside the boat so he was in it when it hit land. Gives very reasonable senerios on how it happened.

Thanks for the article... lots of good information

I don't think it said Oliver's footprints were found. There were just talking about it in one of their possible scenarios

Snip..........
"We tried to view a beaching path in the images of the boat on shore, but were unable clearly see a path where the outboard motor ran ashore under power. Similarly, they may have been able to spot Oliver’s footprints in that area, IF so it would indicate Oliver had been in the boat when it came on shore."

There is a picture of Meinert's stringer of fish. The article says he was fishing for only about an hour - that is a lot of fish for one hour, isn't it?

Don't people usually put them in a bucket? Does this mean that maybe the incident occurred fairly soon after the fish were caught? I am not a fishing person. In fact, when I was little, I had a cane pole, so I don't really know much about storing fish.

IMOO.

He could have had a line out there already and was going out to retrieve them. My papa lived on a lake and he had several lines that he would check daily. Just a thought.

Bringing this post forward. Is this the same boat? Where are the seats and the fish like the other photo? Were they taken out??

And that site says they got the pic from a Dallas Morning News video...

It doesn't say its his boat. It says "Stringer found with Matthew Meinert’s boat".

Thanks. I actually found the video, and that boat with fish belongs to someone else fishing, as the video shows an interview with that man. I will link that video momentarily.

ETA:

At 1 minute 52 seconds in the first video linked to this article, you see the back of the boat with the driver getting out of his vehicle. Clearly fish in boat from this gentleman.

Thanks. I was going to say, that's a lot of fish for only being on the creek under an hour with a 2 year old.

So apparently it doesn't tell us all that much since that wasn't his fish and who knows about any footprints. Hopefully, we will know more soon.
