But nobody drives a bulldover for miles. They load it on the back of a trailer and take it to the construction site.
Yeah, it doesn't seem likely to me for someone to drive 5 hrs through town on a dozer just to get loaded up on a trailer after disposing of his phone.
Another thing I have thought of is how his phone was on the whole time. It didn't go off till the SO started pinging it. I would think it likely if someone was getting rid of a phone that they would turn it off so their path or eventual location would not be readily discovered. If it had pinged off 3 towers they would have been located with it. It makes me consider they wanted the focus on the bridge or else they made a mistake and didn't realize it was there and on. We have been thinking they got to the bridge and pitched it, but possibly they caught that they were being pinged and turned it off, which happened to be while on the bridge. The same can be said if they were in a boat. Searches at the bridge have found nothing. But all we know is that is where the phone was turned off. We have simply assumed that's where it went in the water. What are the chances that just when the SO pinged it is exactly when MC or whomever had his phone arrived at the destination they planned to dispose of it?

My cousin owns and rents out heavy equipment. If the county, which is mostly rural, rents a dozer, someone drives it to the work site. They transport it by truck for out of county jobs, but not often since they’re expensive to move.

Isn't it possible that SM's story about the speed of the phone is BS? I'm not convinced he's telling the truth. He made up the part about the bike. Why wouldn't he make up the rest?

IMO

If Klein hadn't referred to it in his interview I would absolutely think it was BS. In fact I pretty much still think it's BS even though it was mentioned. Perhaps Klein has a strategy?

I agree! But maybe for a reason. Showing part of their hand to illicit a response. I don't trust that he first said, on KRLD (a much larger media market than HCTR FB) the travel speed was 2.5 mph. That's a real bozo mistake if the facts said 4.5. However if they just cooked up a story I could see him thinking he was just supposed to say something too slow for a vehicle.
Or total BS, I guess I can see that too.

In UK a major missing person’s case last year ( Corrie McCeague) , showed his phone travelling at the same speed as a refuse truck.

This was initially discounted as a possibility......however new evidence revealed that he could have been in that refuse truck. Extensive searches have not found the body.

I’d be surprised if, after a homicide, someone would have had the forethought to fabricate evidence to this degree. Unless it was a well thought out plan to dispose of a body.

Certainly not following an impulsive crime.

Someone may have already asked this. If so, I’m sorry. What about a garbage truck? I don’t know the area well. Could his phone have been tossed in a garbage truck or dumpster and then they made their rounds picking up garbage, stopping and going, stopping and going then repeat?

I don’t know why he’d complicate an already goofy sounding story but the speed of the phone sounds like BS. It reeks.

Here's another thing- if MC's phone was destroyed before it was discarded (which is likely imo,) it's possible the GPS info they have is inaccurate. Here's a link on some research I found regarding iPhones and GPS problems.

It bothers me not to know where other than Walmart MC went that day and who he talked to-other than BC-and when he talked to them. If this information is out there, I haven’t seen it.
Someone asked a VI if MC could’ve had lunch with someone or gone out for a drink. She said she’d look into it but I didn’t see a response. I’m not being at all critical but the answers to these questions would fill in some blanks about MC’s day since his phone records never surfaced.

That could be possible. A problem with that, though, could be as to whether or not there was any dumpster right by MC's home that was picked up at 2:30pm that day. In my neck of the woods, most refuse trucks I see are the big ones that have that motorized back-end that opens up and closes, so it'd be hard for somebody to toss in a phone without the trash men seeing them. There might be smaller, different style refuse trucks in some rural areas, though.

Oops! This was meant to be a reply to creepcrusher about garbage trucks.

Coukdnt it just have gotten in a regular can that was about to be picked up? But the way they showed the map... it was back the same straight path of walmart. My garbage men go up and down every street.

I was thinking, what if they (the family) were to send the blood pictures to a well known blood spatter analyst? And any phone data to a well known analyst? That may be more cost effective than guessing what the splatter shows or guessing about phone movement. I still like Haines.
His replies are more in line with what I would expect from a detective.

Am looking forward to the ID channel
production on Sunday.[/QUOT
I betcha a dollar to a donut the photos of the blood have been looked at by a blood spatter forensic expert. Hopefully the phone data as well. Certainly by Klein Investigations, if not HCSO.

Off topic, but I'm having trouble with a couple of my posts not showing up like they did in the beginning? Not sure if the new forum is glitchy or it's on my end. An example is my above reply to Razz, which only shows up when you click on "expand." Before, it would show the quote, then my separate reply.

What about a tractor?

Maybe you are typing inside the quote post. I have to wait for the reply message to load, then scroll down and put the cursor after where it says quote. I have to backspace and start over almost every single time

The reply to Razz is missing the ] so that it posted like editing her post instead of a reply. But i have had some odd posts I was surprised by since the new format. Like if I begin a reply then change my mind altogether, I have not found a way to cancel it. But then my next reply is kind of odd and includes the first one.

What about a tractor?
But why drive 4-5 hrs on a tractor to dispose of a phone? Then would they get loaded up or would they drive several more hours back? I just don't buy it. I feel that some part of this scenario is bogus, either the speed or the route taken but together it takes some really abnormal notion to try to make it fit. I think it's either meant to draw someone out by making them feel they are on to them, or to make someone relax by feeling they don't know anything.

I haven't read all the way to the end of the thread, so forgive me if this has been mentioned or the subject of the phone has come and gone. . .

Did they have trash/recycle pickup in that neighborhood? Averaging 4.5 miles per hour, making stops along the way, traveling in one direction, then turning around and moving in the opposite direction. . . could it have been a municipal trash truck, a street sweeper, a mail carrier?

Could the phone itself be separated from MC?

I checked and found the City of Quinlan picks up on Wednesday. But their home was outside the city limits and they require private trash pickup. So it could be any company picking up any day. Once you get away from their immediate area the homes are farther apart. After you get on hwy 34 there are distances that a refuse truck would drive normal hwy speed.
