Have any reporters reached out to her defense attorney for a statement? I am guessing the comment would be "no comment" but I am still curious. (What I actually picture her lawyer thinking, as he hides a wry smile, is that people are really... not smart sometimes. Wishful thinking on my part anyway. Imo.)
Yes, reporters have reached out to Mr. Coffer’s office. His office replied that there’s a gag order so he can not comment. I’d love to be a fly on the wall and hear what he said to KA after her short lived escape. He must be furious with her.

She looked like Beetlejuice!
This one shows her running around a tree..
(about 18 mark)

I'm bumping BeachSky's post in case some of you missed it. It seems to show a bit more of the video where KA gives up trying to get over the fence and heads back down the hill. She must have got away because a police spokesperson stated she made it "a block and a half into a neighborhood".

Article says KA was offered a plea deal that would have her out in her 50’s or 60’s, but she rejected it.

It’s the Daily Mail so take it with a grain of salt …but if true I’m really shocked. If this needs to be removed I understand!

DA Garza is every victim's loved ones nightmare. His plea deals are offensive to anyone who wants to believe in criminal justice.

She's an idiot for not taking a plea deal. Guess she figured she would outsmart everyone in the end and would not be needing any deals. October 30 cannot get here soon enough.

Imagine if she had run into a house, or grabbed a child as a hostage! She literally has nothing to lose.

It was crazy. I really want to know why she did it as clearly she planned it.

IIRC, there's a gag order in place so I think we'll have to wait until the defense speaks in court. It won't be much longer-- especially if attempted escape charges filed.

NEW: An affidavit charging Kaitlin Armstrong indicates she had been planning an escape, using a medical reason to get an outside appointment and request leg restaints not be used. They also found a metal pin in her cell that they think she planned to use to get handcuffs off.

Hear, hear, @watergirl62!

Don't have to look much further than the plea deal DA Garza offered to Magen Fieramusca-- initially charged with capital murder, after betraying and murdering her best friend, Heidi Broussard, and kidnapping Heidi's infant daughter!

On paper, regardless of the years imposed, Garza also made it so Magen is eligible for release after serving either 25 or 30 years of her long sentence, (sorry, I forget which). My point being the terms eligibility and release should never have passed Garza's lips or entered into this plea arrangement. MOO

That’s terrible about DA Garza and sad for victim’s families.

Does anyone know if KA’s trial will be televised/streamed?

10  minutes?????
10 minutes is quite a long time in some circumstances ( I'm thinking of a dentist's chair here!) She could very easily have got clear away IMO.

Exactly. I was stunned it was that long. But then that was vefore I knew her performance included wardrobe changes.

So conniving.

And by conniving, I mean dangerous.

Indeed. As at least one person suggested earlier on this thread, she could have had someone waiting nearby to help her (familial getaway driver, perhaps).
CS?

Wow wow wow! So she was able to get her hands free and she removed the striped pants. Wish we could see more video footage.

www.kxan.com/investigations/new-vigorous-exercise-thermal-pants-part-of-armstrongs-escape-plan-court-records-reveal/

According to the affidavit, Armstrong fled as she was exiting the rear entry doors of the doctor’s office, was able to manipulate her left hand from the restraints and removed her black and white striped uniform pants.

“She was wearing thermal pants underneath in an effort to disguise her appearance as an inmate,” the affidavit states.
They didn't search her before she left the building? If an orthopedic appointment, no one saw she was wearing pants under pants? And she got a special "no shackles" appointment?

This is ridiculous.
