Could KA be working seasonally in a park or just a private home? There are websites that advertise free room and board in exchange for labor. Wanderjobs, Coolworks. Housesitting, pet-sitting. Housekeeping. Or just Couchsurfing, being welcomed by like-minded travel enthusiasts.

Would extensive background checks be needed?

It’s also not out of the question that she might know a pilot who owns private aircraft. How strict on entry requirements would someplace - let’s say Bimini - be, if a known pilot brought a “friend” along?

You would think people would want to do background checks for their own safety and livability. KA being a female might make her seem less dangerous, but not necessarily.

It all depends, I guess. Some might not…

Ok, not to belabor the point, but what about their saying the digital technology and dark web have made it easier, and all sorts of criminals and terrorists have successfully used them? Just trying to get you to convince me, lol :p
I think most criminals/terrorists that have successfully used fake passports in other countries in recent years have used obscure passports from non-US countries.

US passports (as well as most advanced countries) nowadays have embedded data chips that contain the user’s biometric data (fingerprints, facial recognition data like facial measurements and iris patterns, etc). When TSA scans a passport, a camera equipped with facial recognition compares the passport holder’s face to the biometric data stored on the chip to verify their identity. That level of security is almost impossible to fake.

IMO, it’s highly unlikely that KA left the country using a fake passport (or even using her sister’s passport).

I agree. I get the sense from some of these posts that people are wondering if MW was killed because she was seen as a competitor for sponsors with CS, theoretically taking money from him. Like you said, the sponsorships are not huge cash for even the top tier riders, but basically maybe a token sum of money, free gear, supplies, food and drink, etc. This is a niche sport, that even the best known champions would seldom be recognized by name or face, by most people outside of their sport. I do not believe CS would ever have been able to make enough money as a rider to live comfortably, which is probably why he had other jobs. He was already past his prime at 35, and had likely already reached his pinancle, with nowhere to go but down. MW was likely killed because she was a seen as a competitor, but not a competitor for sponsors, a competitor for CS's attention. JMO
Agree. Mo was young and cheerful, but logically, if it were about competition for sponsors, I’d expect CS to target a couple of guys, not a person from a woman’s team.
The opposite might be true; for sponsors, an athletic couple of winners would look attractive, at least in theory (Agassi and Graf’s commercial immediately leaps to mind). But I doubt this case was about sponsors or commercials. JMO.

I beleive it's very likely she is deceased. The brazenness of her crime is what suggests to me that this is not something you do and actually believe you can get away with. My guess is that she can be found somewhere in that campground.

I don’t know; spring is the highest season for suicides, so it is not implausible, given how emotion-laden the situation is. I don’t count on KA’s feeling of guilt, however, by now she must have realized how thoroughly she messed up her own life. It is easy to say “live off the grid”, but it is not fun. MOO.

However, KA must be very angry with CS. If only for this reason, I don’t feel she has killed herself. I don’t think she is a danger to him, but killing herself for so obsessively vindictive person like KA appears would, in a way, be equal to admitting defeat. JMO, of course.

Thanks for this clarification.

I just renewed my passport and I have never had fingerprints or biometric scans; nothin more than a poor photo I took myself was submitted along with my old passport and the fee. I submitted it to a local county clerk who certified it and sent it in for me.

There is an enhanced passport you can get that does have that data.

Ordinary US passports contain covert measures to ensure the document is a real document but no biometric data of any kind.

I do agree she is unlikely to have obtained a fake passport or that she would know how to obtain fake ID of any sort.

I will probably get flamed for saying this, and everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I believe the thought that KA could readily obtain all of these top-grade fake forms of identification that are so good that she could just completely reinvent herself under a new name, and live the quality of life that she had before allegedly murdering MW, and going on the lam, is almost preposterous.
I wont flame you. Rather, I agree with you. KA's life on the run is going to result in downgrading her lifestyle.

KA's swap meet identity will not pass a serious background check at a private company. Many employers, however, do not perform such checks. Those that do will probably refuse to hire KA due to "unusual but possible" type flags in her identity. This does not mean that the police will be notified.

Ka is going to live in constant fear of a minor traffic stop in an era where every police car is equipped with a computer. If the officer has time (and a lot do), he or she can probably identify enough red flags to arrest her for false identification.

Avoid the traffic stop possibility by living in densely urban NYC, Boston, San Francisco, and some parts of LA area and using public transportation? KA is going to have to worry about normally civil liberty friendly localities still using facial recognition systems.

Real estate? My guess is that this also gone as licensing boards may do comprehensive background checks. They may also be more prone to alert police of possible identity fraud.

Flying anywhere? Out of the question.

It’s a wonder that she hasn’t called her father to get an attorney to arrange a surrender to US Marshals. She’s been running for 5-6 weeks.

Newly obtained photos show Colin Strickland – the Austin, Texas, cyclist at the center of an allegedly deadly love triangle – going about a seemingly normal routine as the U.S. Marshals’ manhunt for his girlfriend, Kaitlin Armstrong, surpasses five weeks.

Strickland was in a relationship with – and living with – alleged murderer Kaitlin Armstrong, who is accused of following her boyfriend and Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson and fatally shooting the young woman on May 11 in Austin, Texas. New photos obtained by Fox News Digital show Strickland reportedly at his Austin home on June 17 – one month to the day after officials announced that Armstrong, 34, was wanted for murder.

The photos show Strickland, 35, standing outside his home, riding a bike through the area and standing in front of his garage shirtless.

Federal and local law enforcement have described evidence that shows Armstrong followed her longtime boyfriend, Colin Strickland, while he was out with Wilson earlier in the day on May 11. Strickland and Wilson allegedly went swimming at Deep Eddy pool in Austin before eating at a local restaurant. Investigators have said that Strickland dropped Wilson at her friend’s home, where she was staying at the time, and then left

According to Armstrong’s arrest warrant, Armstrong’s vehicle "appears to stop next to Wilson’s friend’s residence" just minutes after Strickland had left Wilson.

"Video surveillance shows Strickland leaving the area after dropping off Wilson and shows Armstrong's vehicle driving to the East Austin residence where Wilson was staying," the warrant states. "Armstrong has made prior statements expressing a desire to kill Wilson."

I think KA would be likely do her own vetting of an attorney and not leave that to someone else, even her father. She could do some searches online, and contact them by phone and have interviews with them on zoom if it got to that stage. They would have to advise her to turn herself in, but they also could give her an idea of how they would handle her case in the immediate situation. I doubt they could hold out bail as an option for her, since she is obviously an escape risk. There is the issue of extradition if she is outside of Texas, and how that would work, etc.

But why do you think she hasn’t done this after so many weeks now? Going on 6 weeks.

NEW: U.S Marshals say they've located Kaitlin Marie Armstrong's Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was discovered at a South Austin Carmax dealership, where Armstrong reportedly sold it for $12,200 on May 13th. She left Austin & was seen at La Guardia airport in New York on May 14th.

“Armstrong was provided a check from the dealership a day after being questioned by Austin authorities”

Kaitlin Armstrong sold her Jeep for $12,200 one day before fleeing, feds say. She is now facing an added charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Reward is up to $21K

She acted fast to get some cash and ditch the vehicle.

Amazes me that it has taken the U.S. Marshals all this time to locate her vehicle.

Wording from the latest US Marshals press release re the Newark airport (linked article below contains the full press release)

Armstrong was last known to have been dropped off at the Newark Liberty International Airport on May 18…During the investigation it was learned from an interviewed source that Armstrong was provided transportation to the Newark Liberty International Airport on May 18. Investigators searched outbound flights at the Newark Airport and no flight reservations have been found under Kaitlin Armstrong.”

So that seems to say IMO the trail runs rather cold after the drop off at Newark Liberty.

(Also says the reward offered has increased to a total $21,000 as an anonymous donor has contributed $15,000.)

This is truly surprising if LE just learned the car was sold to a Carmax on the 13th, or 40 days ago. With the amount of multi-agency LE involved in the hunt, it seems very difficult to believe that an employee of the Carmax would not recall this after the news really blew up and particularly in the Austin community. Even more so, it seems like it would be a massive ball drop to not have checked the local car dealers. This feels like a delayed reporting more than the fact that they actually just discovered the car sale. One could see why it would not be reported as it would have little impact on the manhunt after she left town. However, if it was just discovered, it seems like a very sad effort to locate the auto which could (or could have) contained evidence vital to the case against KA if she is in fact guilty of the crime.

It does me as well. So our theorizing on this thread that they’d already found and processed the vehicle was wrong. So much for crime scene evidence from her car. :(

She didn't go into witness protection, she is hiding, albeit successfully so far, from one of the elite law enforcement agencies in the USA, who have elevated her status to a major case. It isn't like she is being tracked by Sheriff Andy and Deputy Fife. I know that it seems discouraging that she is still at-large, and there has not been another update from LE, but that is not necessarily bad. It could mean that they are making progress in the search for her, and do not wish to spook her into further flight by announcing as much. I believe she is still alive and well, and if she has fled the country, it was likely to Canada, as I do not believe she successfully boarded an international flight using a fake ID, or someone else's ID, in this post 9/11 world. If she is in Canada, I believe she will eventually be found and turned over to authorities, but I think she is likely still somewhere in NY, and I still believe she will be apprehended and successfully prosecuted. JMO
@SteveP your post had me thinking that if in fact KA was present at Haven Campground, which apparently is a "private camp", that maybe someone from this camp recommended another similar type "retreat of seclusion" from the outside world in New York (or Canada) and that is where she is laying low. The article where there was mention that the Owner of Campground refused to provide any info about past or current residents of the camp gives the vibe that these people are protecting each other, privacy, and seclusion from outside government, LE, state and local authorities, etc..."off the grid" camps. You would have to imagine US Marshals would go further to investigate other possible private property camps but at the end of day, there may be "unknown" private camps in the mountains of the Northeast housing folks in need/search of some mental or physical enlightening. AMOO
