Authorities are, “Looking at video surveillance, trying to narrow down Kaitlin Armstrong amongst thousands of visitors that come in and out of that airport on a daily basis.”

If KA had not been spotted on video, as seems to at least have been the case when LE announced that she had been dropped off at Newark Airport, how then are they confident enough to state that she was? Was KA actually crazy enough to use her ID or credit/debit, or perhaps another one that LE have now been able to associate with her, to get transportation? Did a friend drop her off and then call LE to report that, and if so, why would they wait until now to do so? Did a digital footprint place her there? So many questions about this report.

I do believe that, despite what many think, US Marshals have a much better idea of where she is than they are stating. I have been wrong before, and will be again, but I really think they are closing in on her, and she will be captured very soon. JMO

Excellent questions. Since the warrant had just been put out, yes, it’s possible that she took risks which are catching up with her. I’m surprised that she didn’t actually fly out of Newark under her own name at that point. But she may have spent 4 days and a lot of money on a fake passport. They can be done quickly in the digital age….

I hope you’re right that she’ll be apprehended soon — I have the same sense, but as you state we’ve all been wrong before. Time will tell….

I would actually expect someone to go to JFK, not Newark, for an international flight.
My recent flight home from Paris went through Newark. Also, to answer a recent post passport check was by facial recognition technology, so no human error.

I just had a thought as I was reading an article and saw a picture of MW and as I was scrolling by quickly mistakenly thought it was a picture of KA until I scrolled back up and read the caption. What if KA stole MW’s passport? I don’t know if MW had it with her, but if she did, IMO they look similar enough that KA could pass as MW in a cursory glance at airport security, especially given the 15% error rate cited above.
On my recent international flight the passport check was by facial recognition software and there were multiple checks for vaccine status, negative COVID, etc.. I lean towards it being unlikely she has fake travel ID

Armstrong was last observed being dropped off at Newark Liberty National Airport on May 18, the day after Austin police released a warrant for her arrest. The US Marshals have indicated that Armstrong was not on any airline’s passenger manifests, and are investigating whether she flew using false identification. There are some indications that she may have fled the country.

However, she may have also left the airport via other means of transportation, and the US Marshals have said she may have used the airport drop to ‘cover her tracks,’ according to the Toronto Sun. Newark Airport has dozens of bus lines that run in and out of the terminals for destinations all over the East Coast. There’s also easy access to trains that run to Newark Penn Station, an Amtrak hub as well as a NJ Transit train and bus terminal.

We haven't heard anything from LE regarding a gun silencer (the NG quote reminded me of it). It would be weird for KA to return the gun used to her house but ditch the silencer. Why not dump both and claim ignorance.

As you said, LE has never said anything about a silencer. A neighbor suggested she must have used one, because he had not heard the gunshots, and NG took that and decided it was a fact, apparently. I don't know why KA would have returned the gun and not the silencer. My guess is because there probably was no silencer. JMO

I was thinking this as well. An airport isn't just about planes. It is a transportation hub. Buses, shuttles, rental cars, etc.

Complicated, but not impossible? My first question is - did KA always had “A” as the last name? If she traveled under a different name and the password has not expired…or, enhanced ID under A vs older passport under another (legal) name?

And it doesn’t require specific forgers. If some near-sighted clerk entered a wrong DOB into the police system, someone could oversee the fact that there are two names. (This is why a different DOB bothers me, was it a mistake, or “something else”?). We don’t know anything about KA before the day of her killing MW. Had she been married, divorced, had kids, a likealike-looking sister, a twin? Did she use to have a hyphenated last name? There are so many options.

Post 2001 is one period. Much later, suddenly, there came additional (unnecessary) difficulties, but because these issues were managed by people, I wonder how many mistakes were made.

I wonder if she would take the risk or use false ID:

Officially, Amtrak requires a government issued ID to ride any train. In practice though, what usually happens is a much different story. Amtrak does not check ID for each passenger boarding the train, but instead does a spot check by the conductor either as you board or they check your tickets.Oct 14, 2021

Of the 70 tips, which are generated through Austin Capital Area CrimeStoppers and the USMS, "we have had some with instrumental value that has (sic) assisted our investigation," [US Marshal] added.
...
[US Marshal] would not speak about any large expenditures or withdrawals Armstrong had made in recent weeks, and would not say whether Armstrong was dropped off via a ride-share app or by a person, or people, she knew.

"Marshals are trying to narrow down a timeline of when she would have been dropped off there," he said.

I've taken Amtrak from NYC many, many times and never once have I ever been asked to show my ID (only my ticket once on board).

Is this true also for long distance trains, such as NYC to Boston, etc. ?

Two things which support her having used a silencer:

1. A neighbor who was home at the time and who is an engineer told press he heard no gunshots, but heard a person’s footsteps, and believes this would only be possible if a silencer were used.

2. Another neighbor said their dogs never reacted until EMS came with sirens, and that they would have reacted to multiple gun shots fired.

"Marshals are trying to narrow down a timeline of when she would have been dropped off there," he said.

Isn't the take away from this sentence that the information must be anecdotal and not based on a ride share app or a video/image? Either of those options would afford a precise time. So either a person told them they dropped her OR she used some sort of transportation that doesn't run on a precise time schedule OR has multiple stops daily at the airport (i.e. a bus, a taxi, a friend and maybe even a train?).

Yes. I frequently traveled from NYC (where I went to college) to DC (where my parents lived) and never once was I asked to present my ID either before or after boarding the train. The only time I was asked for it was one time when I bought a beer in the cafe car lol

Yes, absolutely!

Hate to keep pestering you, but could it be different in these post pandemic days?

I’ve also taken the train during the pandemic and wasn’t asked for my ID then either.
