Let us imagine another situation. CS who (it is obvious) doesn't love KA and lives with her because of "inertia", meets someone else. Anyone. And starts slowly developing a relationship. How high is the other person's chance to be killed?Except KA had warned her off. More than once, I believe. Whatever MW's thoughts about the KA/CS relationship and even if her getting together that day with CS was platonic, she knew KA had "issues". When your texts don't go thru but you continue finding ways to communicate knowing the potential for monitoring is there, you have to really want to stay in touch to keep trying.
This is not to blame the victim but to point out that she could have told CS to contact her only if KA is actually & in fact no longer living with him & they are no longer partners in a business together. FACT: As long as KA was part of his life, MW was going to be dealing with her in some way.
We have gone over all this before in this thread so blow me off if you like but MW had knowledge of KA's annoyance & maybe even aggression/anger. Whatever CS was saying does not mitigate the direct warn offs.
KA is obviously the one to blame for the death of MW if facts we know hold up in court.
But CS chose to keep contacting someone (and hiding/trying to hide contact with someone) when he knew it had powderkeg potential....KA I think had made it clear. And MW paid the price for his creating & sustaining the drama.
When people who own guns (KA) start acting like petulant children who think others are their possession (CS), you usually get bad outcomes. But murder? That's just evil to the core.

Death. The cessation of all suffering on this earth. But the cessation of all of life's joys too.In fact, all 3 of them are paying a price, but MW's share is disproportionate.
I understand, yes. I’m sure that Strickland was still tempering things for Moriah: Best to text and call me with me having a different name/number for you, so she doesn’t see it’s you and get in one of her kooky moods and fly off the handle again. Once she’s moved out things will settle down. Ignore her, believe me it’ll all blow over.Except KA had warned her off. More than once, I believe. Yes, it’s great—I’ve seen that one, among others. This one’s really cute, too:I don’t recall seeing this Gravel pre-ride interview with MW posted, but I may have missed it. Nothing of note related to the case, it’s just the first I have seen of her talking on camera, felt it was worth sharing.
Great video. Warm, approachable, humble, with an infectious smile. A promising bright life cut short way too soon, and in the worst possible manner.Yes, it’s great—I’ve seen that one, among others. This one’s really cute, too:
Way too soon, indeed.Great video. Warm, approachable, humble, with an infectious smile. A promising bright life cut short way too soon, and in the worst possible manner.![]()
Yes, to read about this adorable young person being shot twice in the head and then in the chest is both heartbreaking and infuriating. There needs to be legal justice, at least.Great video. Warm, approachable, humble, with an infectious smile. A promising bright life cut short way too soon, and in the worst possible manner.![]()
Thank you for posting this. I believe this interview was just before the March 12, 2022 race where her ranking was 27/929. Sadly she will never make the Mid South again…or any other race.Yes, it’s great—I’ve seen that one, among others. This one’s really cute, too:
MW might also have been going out with different guys to get a feel for what she liked, what she didn't, where she was with dating, etc. This would be normal after the break up of a long relationship, as she had been in, as well as the transitions she had just been going through in her own life.I understand, yes. I say this because I can compare it to a situation in my own youth. It’s all made to seem very reasonable and even trivial. Just some loose ends to tie up with an old relationship that’s been on the rocks for a long time.
I’m certain that Moriah never believed for an instant that she was risking reputation and life, or that CS was stringing KA along and telling her a completely different story.
I can only conclude that Moriah must have had strong feelings for Strickland, because she was a rising star and had many people interested in her, and a connected coach and family: she was being written about and interviewed in all the Cycling publications. She didn’t need CS to get sponsorships or to further her career.
True. How tragic that she was murdered during what might have been a simple youthful transition phase.MW might also have been going out with different guys to get a feel for what she liked, what she didn't, where she was with dating, etc. This would be normal after the break up of a long relationship, as she had been in, as well as the transitions she had just been going through in her own life.
Wow, she's very articulate. And not a moment before she can answer a question, even though she might not want to be revealing.Yes, it’s great—I’ve seen that one, among others. This one’s really cute, too:
^^rsbmI do hope we find out the story of why he bought the guns. Hard to believe he would do that if he realized she was so unhinged. It might be as simple as they were going to make a regular thing of going to the driving range together etc – but it would be interesting to know.
Okay – jumping in a little late here after skimming the previous threads. I did read the arrest warrant and the AA.
Questions top of mind:
- Has anything been mentioned in MSM that puts KA in the apartment where MW was murdered? Any of KA’s fingerprints on anything – the door handle or anywhere? On the bike found in the thick Bamboo? Does her phone put her inside the apartment or do we not have that info yet// I realize LE prob has a lot of info not yet released but wondering if anything has been released about this?
- The testing on KA’s Sig 9mm handgun per the AA – indicates that “The potential that the same firearm was used is significant” / Wondering if LE can get any more definitive than this or is this the standard verbiage ?
Is what they are saying as close as it gets?
-I know we have CC’s info about the locking and unlocking of the apartment door. Did I read correctly that CS said he watched MW walk into the apartment when he dropped her off ? If yes hard to see how KA went in the door on her heels.
-Also no one hearing gunshots – problem or not ? I say not since it was obvious she was shot and we know pretty definitively in what time frame -
Just following the case casually online it appeared it was a slam dunk. There is no doubt in my mind that KA killed MW but I hope they can button it up a little better. As the KA's father said – there are a lot of unanswered questions.
The fact that CS is a cheater to me is neither here nor there. He is not responsible for KA’s action’s. And he alibi’s out per the camera’s. I do hope we find out the story of why he bought the guns. As far as what the defense's story will be - as we all know they don't need a story or to prove she is innocent. They just need to throw a wrench into the prosecution's case.
ALL IMO of course
On the date of the murder, Armstrong owned a pistol that APD (Austin police) seized from Armstrong’s residence in the course of their investigation," the new complaint reads. "Laboratory test-firing of Armstrong’s pistol confirmed that it fired the spent shell casings that APD found at the scene of the murder."Okay – jumping in a little late here after skimming the previous threads. I would guess many posters have encountered a CS in their own lives. It’s adding twists to the story! Personally, I’m not certain I’d put much blame on him, wanting to place it fully on the person who pulled the trigger. If he had a history of stirring people up, that might change my mind a bit. But it’s interesting to see other perspectives on “blame”.RSBBM
Great post & excellent questions!
Respectfully, I do have a quarrel with CS being a cheater is "neither here nor there."
What if he hadn't created this triangle and sought to hide it over months even after KA began acting out by monitoring his phone & warning off MW.
"What if"! While perhaps he is not legally culpable in any way (we don't know yet), he's not an innocent bystander either.
Lies, deception, murder. A familiar pattern on these pages.
