that all sounds very noble. But I have watched the movement very closely, since it's inception. I have followed many of the founders on twitter and FB, and watched many of their livestreams, when they used to stream...[ they don't do so anymore after arrests for looting and arson happened because of live streams...]

MANY of the original BLM members have behaved very badly, in my opinion, by 'celebrating' the deaths of various officers, and by threatening violence on LE at various times. So although some of their writings sound very civil and noble, their actions are not always so . JMO :cow:

It wasn't that hard, his position, and the fact that many officers were grouped together like sitting ducks, I am sure LE all over will use this as a learning exercise in where and when to allow protests.

Yup and LE had no riot gear at the time.

How anyone could say that BLM is peaceful while they're chanting slogans like P**s in a blanket, Fry em like bacon or What do we want, De*d co**s, when do we want it, Now, I don't understand.
Now if it's meant that the crowd is not physically attacking LE, that's true, but they are surely not spouting polite rhetoric.

Yes, and its not just a few 'bad seed' outliers who chant this violent rhetoric. It's BLM leaders.

“It definitely wasn’t a threat. I don’t know if they would have received it differently if we would have said on a stick. We’re there chanting, using our voices,” Turner said.

Yes, oh peaceful BLM leader, Gandhi totally would have put "Pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon" on a 'stick', in order to effect change. :notgood:

The perception is the reality IMO. You are what you say and do. They are talking out of both sides of their mouths but don't take my word for it. Take a look at some of the leaders that are giving praise to Dallas LE and see what they were saying before.

"You are what you say and do.". Individually yes, collectively, no; otherwise, all cops are racist and use lethal force on unarmed blacks.

The cops I know are honest about the fact racist and bad cops exist and pose a threat to other cops and civilians alike. Why should anyone else deny that reality, or that it is constructive for cops and civilians alike for BLM or any other group to protest, peacefully, to bring attention to the problem?

I worry that giving people a space for anger and rage leads to more violence and deeper seeds of hatred.

We have a saying in counseling----

It's ok to BE angry. It is not ok to ACT angry.

That should be the message here.

Agree. It feeds off itself. Just like if a married person hangs out with divorced people, the married person is far more likely to divorce as well. If someone feels mildly disgruntled and they spend time rallying with people who are filled with hate, they are going to feel more hatred.

That video makes me angry and watching the perpetrator move, very well planned with experience. JMO

We need to stop hating on people and start showing love and that begins at home.

RIP to the victims 🌹

I'm so tired of saying RIP, the world is full of evil people 😥

God Bless America 🇺🇸

BBM. That's exactly what my signature(from Tupac) means. The hate children are exposed to comes back to use thrice fold it would seem.

While I applaud the image Dallas PD had sought to foster from this decision, it is to me a tragic irony. I hope we don't allow our first responders to be so vulnerable ever again.

If you're talking about social media, anyone can post something there claiming they're part of BLM. It doesn't mean they are. In the beginning, BLM was loosely organized. In our area (dealing with the death of Tamir Rice and others), they were approached by local community organizers who were experienced in activism and civil disobedience, offering them advice and guidance. Early BLM leaders disagreed at first. They weren't wanting to engage in violence against anyone, but some were willing to break some windows and cause havoc. Over time, they developed good leaders and adopted good guidelines for peaceful, organized protest. They did so without losing their passion for their cause.

Since then they've learned a lot, including learning how to watch their protests for troublemakers, distance themselves and alert LE. Sometimes these troublemakers are anarchy types, other times they're plants or agents provocateurs. Other times, they're violent counter-protestors. There are usually people in every protest march whose job it is to watch for troublemakers. They also hold regular meetings and have learned to spot bad actors and remove them. There's real skill in doing this.

In Dallas, it looks like the killer avoided interaction with the protest and BLM. IMO, it looks like he positioned himself away from the parade, where no one noticed what he was doing. I'd also be willing to bet he never attended meetings or other activities.

This kind of attributing the beliefs or statements or actions of a few to all of BLM is precisely why the grassroots refuses to have actual recognized BLM leaders.

Anyone can call themselves a BLM leader. Doesn't mean they are, much less thst they speak for anyone other than themselves or their own individual group.

I thought this thread is about police officers who have been hunted and killed. There is no excuse good enough. It feels disrespectful to discuss all of the reasons people want police dead and how they are justified. There is ZERO justification for killing police who were working that night to protect others. I wish there was a different thread for the other stuff. I can't stand for the honor of these fallen to be scattered between all the reasons someone might have done it. If I were to go on another thread and say why some guy might have kidnapped and murdered someone and he's been wronged in his life, it would not be allowed. I don't think this is the time or the place.

I don't think that he was affiliated with any particular group as far as I've heard. Shep Smith, (who I actually like in spite of who he works for) is getting tidbits here and there about the guy. Saying there is no evidence of specialized sniper training in the Army. Smith is on live in Dallas. JMO

Within a couple of weeks of basic most people should be able to shoot accurately at around ~300yds. With iron sights. Not specialized scopes.

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities in Tennessee say a man who opened fire on a highway in Tennessee targeted police officers and others because he was troubled by incidents involving black people and law enforcement officers.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that initial conversations with the suspect revealed he was troubled by incidents across the U.S.

Still, Johnson, who wore a dashiki and held a fist aloft on his Facebook page, had a temper and owned "a lot of guns," according to the friend.

"He did have some anger issues but never said he would hurt anyone," the friend said, adding with distrubing irony, "His shots were terrible."

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/07/0...l-rage-that-drove-snipers-deadly-rampage.html

According to a senior U.S. defense official, Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Army reserves in 2009 and rose to the rank of private first class. He had one deployment to Afghanistan from November, 2013 to July of 2014. Upon returning, he remained an inactive reserve until May, 2015, when he was honorably discharged.

As an aside, I know a guy that got an honorable discharge back in the late 70's He was a heroin addict, it's like a job that wants to get rid of you but wants to send you away with a clean record to begin again. jmo idk
