But did you see the video of him shooting around the pillars? He was surrounded and kept firing. I don't know how he got out of that with his life.

I think this goes back to Tueller studies and studies based around that. A perpetrator has a much greater chance of wounding even a trained person attempting to fight back.

I thought this thread is about police officers who have been hunted and killed. There is no excuse good enough. It feels disrespectful to discuss all of the reasons people want police dead and how they are justified. There is ZERO justification for killing police who were working that night to protect others. I wish there was a different thread for the other stuff. I can't stand for the honor of these fallen to be scattered between all the reasons someone might have done it. If I were to go on another thread and say why some guy might have kidnapped and murdered someone and he's been wronged in his life, it would not be allowed. I don't think this is the time or the place.

TODAY, WE ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT.- Dallas Police Chief

Give them at least a day. Jeez.

I don't like the way the assassination of law enforcement officers has turned into an attack on BLM. I wish we could stick to the subject too.

Dunno. He may have practiced somewhere and just been good at it.......and the weapon is so lethal to begin with, but what I can't figure is how selective he was..............glad it did not happen, but its just amazing that scores of people weren't hit. All I have heard about is one woman who was hit in the leg.......Sheesh. JMO

He apparently trained at a private "club for handling oneself in an urban environment," ironically, alongside off duty police officers.

I see this is devolving rapidly..............personally, i'm interested in learning more about MJ and if he had help, etc. Not ready to jump to conclusions about anything without evidence. The convenient default is to blame this horror on a national movement. So far, it appears that one person did this. We shall see. It is very early in the investigation. JMO

Resisting arrest is not a capital crime, neither is being disrespectful, and we've seen incidents where people have been shot by police without provocation. Some LEO actually support BLM, believe it or not.

But maybe this isn't the thread for that particular discussion.

RESISTING arrest can quickly become a capital crime, if the suspect physically wrestles with an officer, thus being capable of grabbing the officer's weapon, and making it appear as if they are going to do so.

Any more than " all of them" are now or have ever celebrated the killing of cops.

Of course not. But I saw a few dozen on twitter and FB last night doing so. and hundreds of likes in return.

What would happen if officers 'high fived' the deaths of suspects in police shoot outs on their FB's?

All this rhetoric, justification and just continual multiplying hatred I am seeing spread from this(not here just online and in the news) just hurts my heart. LIVES were taken, and there is no two sides to this story, no reasonable doubt. It was pure evil, cold blooded executions. We cannot even come together over that?

Did you get the name of the place? I do training like that and am local to the area.

I know people here are trying to uphold what they feel us the noble intentions of BLM, but truth be told, in my town, and on social media MANY young black people are using # black lives matter as anti white, anti establishment rhetoric. You can sugar coat it all you want, and I'm NOT talking about the well educated, peaceful protestor that is trying to effect real change, I'm talking about how so many are using this banner to promote racial division and hate. Go ahead and Google it. If BLM doesn't want white people like me thinking they stand for violence then they SHOULD promote some leaders. This bs about them not having leaders only means NO ONE is accountable for any hate filled racially dividing chants and rhetoric often associated with this group.

I am also tired to death for being a white apologist here tip toeing over the blame that is still bring thrown at me for being "privileged". Yes I'm white. I'm polite to cops. I work hard for everything I have. I don't blame anyone alive for what my ancestors had to endure by any other race before I was born.

Getting pizzed. Self time out for me for a bit.
Thanks to all here for (mostly) keeping it real. See you after dinner.

Me too. I also wonder if on top of being a terrorist, murderer, and assassin who committed a hate crime he's a spree killer too. How did one person get so twisted? He was only 25. He'd only been out of the military for a year.

Didn't, but will....

Here: the Academy of Warrior Arts, in Richardson and Fort Worth. From an article in the "Daily Beast," which also had info on the black militant groups he "liked" on SM.

If you're talking about social media, anyone can post something there claiming they're part of BLM. It doesn't mean they are. In the beginning, BLM was loosely organized. In our area (dealing with the death of Tamir Rice and others), they were approached by local community organizers who were experienced in activism and civil disobedience, offering them advice and guidance. Early BLM leaders disagreed at first. They weren't wanting to engage in violence against anyone, but some were willing to break some windows and cause havoc. Over time, they developed good leaders and adopted good guidelines for peaceful, organized protest. They did so without losing their passion for their cause.

Since then they've learned a lot, including learning how to watch their protests for troublemakers, distance themselves and alert LE. Sometimes these troublemakers are anarchy types, other times they're plants or agents provocateurs. Other times, they're violent counter-protestors. There are usually people in every protest march whose job it is to watch for troublemakers. They also hold regular meetings and have learned to spot bad actors and remove them. There's real skill in doing this.

In Dallas, it looks like the killer avoided interaction with the protest and BLM. IMO, it looks like he positioned himself away from the parade, where no one noticed what he was doing. I'd also be willing to bet he never attended meetings or other activities.

But I am speaking about the leaders of BLM, like Tef Poe and DeRay, and Nessa, from Ferguson. Not just random people pretending to be a part of the movement These are people who appear on CNN as spokesmen for the movement.

“It really is difficult to put into words the feelings that we have,” McCormack said. “It is just so horrific.”

TPS officers have 'overwhelming sense of sadness' over Dallas shooting: McCormack
McCormack, whose union represents approximately 5,500 uniformed cops, told CP24 that he has reached out to his counterparts in Dallas to offer them his condolences but, understandably, has not heard back.

For now, McCormack said the focus should be on supporting officers in Dallas and elsewhere.

“Our community is standing with the Dallas policing community and we are going to do everything we can to help them get through this,” he said. “This isn’t a time for politics, this isn’t a time for rhetoric, this is a time to help those people in Dallas heal.”

I am LOVING this robot who bring a bomb to the bad guys!!

Genius!

Give up, or.... kaboom!!!

Of course, sigh, let us hope the bad guys don't get their hands on these.

Shooter: Micah Johnson, 25, from Mesquite, has been identified as the man who shot 12 police officers, killing five, before being killed by a robotic bomb detonated by police after a four hour standoff; pictured right is Johnson with Professor Griff of Public Enemy
