Reportedly, he was a carpenter-masonry expert...............so probably no combat. And so far, no red flags from his service record.(I'm watching Shep Smith live TV) Has anyone heard if he was currently employed? JMO

This is what NBC is reporting:

<snip>

Since returning from Afghanistan, Johnson had been working for a Mesquite company, Touch of Kindness. He said his job was to "assist [sic] mentally challenged children and adults with transportation to and from various appointments and retail stores."

A woman who answered the phone at the company told NBC News that Johnson had not come into work on Friday because it was his normal day off. She did not know he was connected to the Dallas shootings and said she found it impossible to believe.

Imho this thread should focus on the DPD, the officers who were shot at and murdered, and the man who assassinated them. Not the time to criticize the police nor the activists. But I guess this particular line in the thread shows where people's hearts are.

You have been discussing and criticizing too but I don't take that as your heart is somehow not with those that died as well.

This is also relevant, after having read some of the comments on this thread:

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/news/a46525/twitter-eggs/

YOU ARE MAKING THIS A WHITE VS BLACK ISSUE!!!

"It has been a white vs. black issue. Racially-motivated police brutality is nothing new; everyone having a video camera in their pocket is. If you didn't want to believe James Baldwin or Alice Walker or Langston Hughes, if you didn't trust N.W.A. or Public Enemy, if you thought the news was biased or dishonest, you are now able to see raw, unedited, live footage of what's happening. If you still don't believe it, you have officially convinced yourself not to believe your own eyes. You have taken what has for decades been a white vs. black issue, and turned it into a paying attention vs. not paying attention issue.

Congratulations. Now, go ahead, tweet something thoughtful."

''Quinyetta McMillon, the mother of Alton Sterling's son, delivered a powerful message Friday on the fatal shootings against police officers in Dallas.

"We wholeheartedly reject the reprehensible acts of violence that were perpetrated against members of the Dallas Police Department," McMillon said in a statement issued by her attorneys, according to multiple media outlets. "Our hearts break for the families of the officers who were lost as they protected protesters and residents alike during a rally."'

Johnson told police he had specifically been training for this event and working out in preparation for Thursday night. NBC 5 Investigates has also learned Johnson was wearing a military-style bulletproof vest.

Johnson was hit by gunfire before going into the El Centro college building and that officers followed Johnson's blood trail into the building, according to a law enforcement source.

Officers found him on the second floor, and then fired more rounds through a wall, apparently hitting Johnson again and wounding him.

After that, the negotiations began and spanned several hours. Johnson threatened many times to charge the officers, according to the source.

Multiple officials stressed that the investigation remains fluid and information has changed throughout the day.

Sources said that while Johnson may be the lone gunman, the investigation into other possible suspects who may have assisted Johnson remains on-going.

The reference to the building as an El Centro College garage appears to be a widely repeated error. I saw a statement from El Centro tweeted by a member of the Dallas MSM clarifying that the facility is owned by Comercia Bank, not El Centro. The garage is located next to the main El Centro building and it was locked down until Johnson was killed.

So it turns out it was only one guy after all? When I asked this morning people still thought that it had been some sort of coordinated attack.

I and many started thinking that last night, when "triangulation" was being reported and witnesses seemed to think they heard shots coming from different areas.............................JMO

What a remarkable gesture, given their own grief and the circumstances for it.

But the thing is, the activists hate the police. They instigate and incite. I watched them antagonize the police last night, even after the shootings.

Off topic but does anyone know how many posts I've typed and deleted today? I know I can't be the only one.

With all the buildings around the shots were probably echoing all over the place. It might also explain the disparity in the number of shots witnesses said they heard.

Imagine being in that crowd not knowing who was shooting or where they were. It's a miracle there wasn't some kind of stampede.

MSNBC saying the killer had a stash of bomb making equipment, weapons, etc. He was going all out, had big plans.

Here's a link:

https://dpdbeat.com/2016/07/08/investigative-update-regarding-the-deadly-attack-on-police-officers/

During the search of the suspect’s home, detectives found bomb making materials, ballistic vests, rifles, ammunition, and a personal journal of combat tactics. Detectives are in the process of analyzing the information contained in the journal.

They also note another person was arrested on weapons charges at the rally last night

In addition, Brandon Waller B/M/25 was arrested for unrelated weapons charges at the scene on July 7, 2016.

So off topic, as usual.

Seems many could benefit from reading this:

Empathy Is Actually a Choice

"Arguments against empathy rely on an outdated view of emotion as a capricious beast that needs to yield to sober reason. Yes, there are many situations in which empathy appears to be limited in its scope, but this is not a deficiency in the emotion itself. In our view, empathy is only as limited as we choose it to be."

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/12/o....html?mtrref=undefined&assetType=opinion&_r=0

Yes, it would be wonderful if people tried to empathize with the officers who are sent into the streets every night.

I heard a tactical expert on KFI radio this morning. He said he thinks the shooter was running to different areas of the parking structure, so it appeared as if there were multiple shooters, but there were not.

Buffalo police have been ordered to patrol in pairs as a result of threats made against them in a series of social media posts that started following the Dallas police massacre overnight.

“Effective immediately and until further notice, all officers will be assigned to two-man cars,” Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said Friday. “Officers should at all times be aware of their surroundings and exercise extra caution while on duty as well as off duty.”

Derenda also urged police when off duty to carry their weapon with them and not to wear any type of clothing that would indicate they are members of law enforcement.

“Please be sure to watch out for one another and stay safe,” the commissioner said.

Of the social media threats, he said, “It has been brought to my attention that there have been threats made via social media in regard to Buffalo police officers.

If you're talking about social media, anyone can post something there claiming they're part of BLM. It doesn't mean they are. In the beginning, BLM was loosely organized. In our area (dealing with the death of Tamir Rice and others), they were approached by local community organizers who were experienced in activism and civil disobedience, offering them advice and guidance. Early BLM leaders disagreed at first. They weren't wanting to engage in violence against anyone, but some were willing to break some windows and cause havoc. Over time, they developed good leaders and adopted good guidelines for peaceful, organized protest. They did so without losing their passion for their cause.

Since then they've learned a lot, including learning how to watch their protests for troublemakers, distance themselves and alert LE. Sometimes these troublemakers are anarchy types, other times they're plants or agents provocateurs. Other times, they're violent counter-protestors. There are usually people in every protest march whose job it is to watch for troublemakers. They also hold regular meetings and have learned to spot bad actors and remove them. There's real skill in doing this.

In Dallas, it looks like the killer avoided interaction with the protest and BLM. IMO, it looks like he positioned himself away from the parade, where no one noticed what he was doing. I'd also be willing to bet he never attended meetings or other activities.

Excellent info. Thanks
