A 6-year-old girl is dead and a family member of the victim is in custody after officers arrived at a chaotic scene on the Southwest Side, according to San Antonio police.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police said a 6-year-old girl, who has been identified as Hosanna Sancho, is dead and a woman is in custody after a disturbance call took a devastating turn. Now, her mother is facing capital murder charges, police said.

The woman accused of killing the 6-year-old girl found dead at a Southwest Side apartment this week had a history of mental illness.

Hosanna's mother, 36-year-old Nephiteri Sancho, gave power of attorney over Hosanna to relatives when she was 4. The girl lived with those relatives in the apartment above her mother's.

Now family is taking solace in something Hosanna said just a few days ago.

"'It doesn't matter, because Jesus is in my heart,'" Vallespin recounted her saying. "'And God's got me.'"
Relatives say 6-year-old was stabbed to death by her mother

Police reportedly questioned the woman and then took her into custody.
“She has said some stuff to detectives," said Sgt. Moscoso. "Again, all of that is going to be evidence at this point, so I can’t say what she said.”
