KILLEEN, Texas — More than a dozen people rallied in Killeen Friday morning in an effort to bring continued awareness to the disappearance of Fort Hood soldier PFC Vanessa Guillen.

Family and friends held signs with Guillen's picture and words of encouragement at Lyons Park.

Investigators say the 20-year-old was last seen April 22 at 1 p.m. wearing a black T-shirt in the parking lot of her regimental engineer squadron headquarters on Fort Hood.

No face masks or gloves? Come on, I understand why they were there but I'm sure it's important to stay healthy if they're going through something like this. Where did they look?

Do they require a uniform there? Because I wore what ever I wanted to exercise in several places, and PT wasn't done in formation. Nor was it done at a specific time. But we did have to pass a PT test every year, and that was done in uniform.

before COVID19, PT has a specific time and uniform with the whole platoon Mondays till Fridays unless they have a profile for not being able to do PT. Then they still have to show up for morning accountability.

To be fair, if my daughter or sister were missing, the last thing I'd be worried about is covid. Also, they're outside, and spread apart. They technically don't need to wear one.

I'm not going to discuss this issue, because, apparently, people have really strong opinions about it. But, if my daughter or sister were missing I would want to make sure that me and everyone else helping me were doing everything to stay healthy. I don't think anyone with a missing loved one needs to get sick. Just saying. It doesn't hurt wear a mask or gloves. They were not spread apart on that group picture, that's why I said what I said. I hope Vanessa is found safe and sound, though. Wishing nothing but the best for her friends and family.

I, too, only hope and pray she is found. I think the family and friends could use as much positive energy that we can send their way. :)

Speaking as someone who lives in that area, that’s not a good sign that they are searching there. And also, there are a lot of places where someone could dispose of a body. They clearly aren’t searching for her like she went hiking and lost her way back. :(

Stillhouse Lake is another lake here, it is farther away from Base, maybe 40 min drive from Fort Hood. It is very big too ( but no beaches, you can access it only by a boat unlike lake Belton) and area around it has plenty of hiking trails that are not used by people very often...I wonder what info they got to search there...

There were early reports that her phone pinged there (the media repeated a Facebook post made by a friend of the family).

The post was deleted, which seemed indicate that it may not have been true. The fact that they are searching there today, seems to signal that is not the case.

Are they on the Lake side or the Dam side?

Just a theory... she went missing in athletic clothes around 1 pm as i understand it. Could she have planned a run during her lunch break? Then it would make sense that she left vital belongings behind. Maybe someone grabbed her while on a run? To me it does not sound like a AWOL situation, but hoping for a positive outcome!

What is her Fitbit data saying? On FB I saw a comment from another servicemember on-base stating that she wore a fitness tracker on her wrist and that most photographs of her showed her wearing it.

Surely this data can be accessed by authorities and will give very strong clues about her physical activity immediately before her disappearance and her physical state immediately afterwards. If she was out exercising then she’ll definitely have been wearing it, and it would almost certainly be synchronizing at regular intervals with her (missing) phone (presuming, like most people, the app is installed there).

Did she have a running route that she took that someone close to her could verify? Im sure this has been asked and looked into, I just can't shake the thought that she went out for a run and met with foul play by a stalker or even a stranger on the prowl. MOO

The good news is that Investigators likely already have that information.

Unfortunately we will likely not know what that information told them until the investigation concludes.

CID and military institutions in general are notorious for not revealing any details about an on going investigation

Has anyone seen any reporting in MSM or on SM re: official searches taking place anywhere outside of Fort Hood?

I know it's been reported that there is "an extensive search" for her by both military and civilian LE.

I'm just wondering if anyone has noted specifically where those searches are taking place.

I anything from the armory had come up missing, the whole base would be locked down.

Her job speciality was small arms repair. This makes her skillset an extremely valuable commodity to gangs and organized criminals. I can only speculate of course, but I think a very plausible explanation is that she was snatched for her skillset, and I don’t believe that it would be at all difficult to smuggle her off base - it would’ve been a carefully orchestrated grab.

Incidentally, I was quite shocked to read some of the FB comments that seem likely to be from genuine base insiders - everything from details about surveillance camera positioning on buildings at the base (surely unwise in the interests of national security on a public FB page), to personal details of other missing service members from the same base, to suggestions of trafficking activities that are referenced to ranked service members, women locked in cupboards, gang related activities etc. Although all unverified by the very nature of FB, so many “wow” moments just reading through them. If military investigators are doing their job properly, they’ll have plenty of other things to be looking into at Ft Hood as well.

Other than the information shared to MSM via the initial official release from the military I have not seen any new official information shared via MSM

It seems the only information that is being shared now with MSM is via the family. And that information hasn't included any details about the on going investigation or CID/LLE official searches. At least not that I have found

Do you have a specific case that you can recall where a gang snatched someone from a U.S. Military base for their specific skill set?

FB is a roiling cesspool of gossip, innuendo, baseless speculation, rumor, and flat ignorance.

Military investigators don't have time to chase down SM trolls.
