Early on her sister mentioned that VG was interested in getting a new car. Since she was last seen in the parking lot, could someone have contacted her about a car to look at? Go for a test drive?

I read in an article yesterday that the sister said they had been talking about cars because VG's birthday is in September.

The way I interpreted that was it wasn't anything urgent or immediate, maybe more of something that she'd like to get for her birthday.

JMO.

Yep the way I took it was that she was explaining that her sister had future goals and aspirations, to her IMO she showed no signs of running away or ending her own life.

I think she was trying to add some context into why this was not at all like her, she had goals, she loved her family, she loved her job etc

Like you I don't feel like the context of what her sister said was in any way pointing to her actually meeting with somebody to purchase a vehicle on the day she disappeared. JMO

Agree.
And a PFC would probably want a new car.
So easy to get a good loan when you are in the military.

My suspicion is settling on her work place.
Either a stalking obsession situation, or her job of handling weapon inventory led her to find a discrepancy, and then her death.

The army has organized PT in each company in the early morning. Not every day but close. Soldiers wear sweats or shorts and t-shirt uniform.

Are you saying every company everywhere in the army has organized PT? Out of curiosity, how do you know this is fact?

We don’t know if it was a person who saw her or a camera. We also don’t know that she was alone
Thank you. Now, how do I find the answer to my question and your statement? Who last saw her, a person, people or a camera? Did she move out of camera range, did the person/people move? To me, this is a significant event. This is very important.
If it's been answered, my bad. I missed the item that said what she was last seen wearing, when I went over all the posts. Maybe I need to get out the magnifying glass and check this out all over again.
I feel like there's something staring us right in the face and we can't see it for looking.

The signal for cell phones and internet indeed are sometimes not too great on Ft Hood even with Verizon. There is a remote gate I take to from Belton to base. It takes 15-20 min to reach base and then up to 30 min depending where you have to be on base. But overall from East Range Gate Belton is not far. Lake Belton ( Blora) is 10 min drive from Range gate. Lake is huge and deep.
Are there roads near the lake? Many? Are they used frequently? Do you drive by the lake on a fairly regular basis?

She wouldn't have had to be 'relieved' if she just locked up the area.
I've said I sat with a guy in charge of the arms room at one base. If he had had an emergency, I think he just locked the place up until he could get back. At the same time, I don't believe he was permitted to leave during his shift. Not for meals or anything. That's why I went over there. He couldn't leave. His interactions were limited because weapons were signed out/in at specific times.
But that was one arms room on one base.
I feel a need to correct myself here. I said I thought the guy would just lock the place up until he could get back. Looking at this now, I realize, he would have likely had to do that, but he most likely had to give a key to a superior, unless there was more than one key.
I still believe he wasn't allowed to leave, but, there are emergencies or extenuating circumstances, correct?

Here and I’ve always been under the impression that the military was extremely routine based.

I’m not sure how some people can even leave their homes without being in fear.

It’s good practice to always be aware of your surroundings, but I’ll be damn if I ever live my life, or raise my kids to grow up in fear.

People that are always looking over their shoulder are some of the most unhappiest people on earth in my experience

I wasn't saying live in fear, and I wasn't trying to imply the military isn't routine oriented. When you're on duty, you answer to someone. You have somewhere you are supposed to be. It's often our personal habits in our off time that we are not supposed to be so detail oriented that everything becomes a habit. And I'm talking from the viewpoint of a female army veteran who is aware of what the sexual harassment was like years ago.

The good news is that Investigators likely already have that information.

Unfortunately we will likely not know what that information told them until the investigation concludes.

CID and military institutions in general are notorious for not revealing any details about an on going investigation

If they have had access to that information and they're asking for a reward, isn't that telling in itself?

Anyone familiar with the LaVena Johnson case?

I can't seem to locate a thread for her here on WS.

There may not be a thread for her on WS, but she's definitely online. I just read the Wikipedia version. What a darn shame. Suicide? I think that smells.
How do you know about her? JMO, I think she should have a thread here.

I think we're even going to be even more in the dark in this case with her being military and all and the possibility the crime was committed on base with other military personnel. There won't be press briefings and stuff like that I'm afraid.

Sorry, but as the military would say, We don't have the 'need to know'.

I was wondering where she was going to change back into her ACU's? (cammo)With no ID on her person how would she get back into her barracks or the Arms room, or even the building for that matter? Most non public buildings have CAC card access.
It's been 11 years since I was on Fort Hood so things could have changed but back then cell phone coverage was sketchy.
I've been on many active bases since and all of them have cameras on the entry and exit gates. I would have guessed that after the Nidal Hassan nightmare more cameras were installed. There are school buses on post too which may have had cameras but covid19 probably kept them parked.
They know what happened, and they won't be telling us any time soon, so we wait. Moo.
You said you were stationed on FT. Hood years back. Is most of the land just used for training? No buildings used or occupied permanently? Virtually wasteland?

Does anybody know of this guy?
Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo, an AWOL soldier from Fort Campbell in Kentucky, was arrested by the Killeen, Texas, Police Department near Fort Hood and remains in custody at the Killeen jail.
The news article was dated December, 2015.

Too many Benedict Arnolds and not enough Patrick Henrys.

Could she have received a call, while at work or on her break, saying ‘Meet me in the parking lot’.[/QUOTE

And if she received such a call, what are the odds it was a trap? But then, the authorities would have her cell phone records and know of the call.

Just an observation. Morning PT is pretty standard across the whole army. MOO it is very likely that VG did PT that morning.
I looked around at work schedules in the army and found a 9am start is more common than I thought though.
Also, who sends a message that says basically "I am going to work at the same time I always do." ?
No wonder the text made her sister question why she got it.

It does feel like that is something that happened.
She is at work, then in an overflow parking lot. Why?

I think the authorities are letting them look there because it's not interfering with their investigation. I believe CID, etc. has leads in another direction.

The only time I did morning PT, or PT in formation was in basic training, and for the yearly PT test. Oh, the PT test wasn't in formation each year, one year they just had us go in formation and then run a mile. The other times our PT test was scheduled and we had someone monitor what we did. But this was quite awhile back.
