Much younger friend points out that what probably happened with VG's friends going into a panic so quickly was that she had an arrangement of "I'll text when I get back and if you don't hear from me I'm in trouble" for her runs. Friend says all her friends do it that way and if you forget to text, you'd better answer your phone when you call or they are going to call the cops.

Oh no. This is even more proof IMO of my theory that she was abducted while out for a run....

I definitely think there was some kind of arrangement like this with her sister and that’s why she called her commanding officer after their text messages were unread.

It could be, but after talking with a few military folks, they had only seen it done a couple of times. And of those times, it was for cases involving foul play.
Of course anything is possible and I would really love for this to be a case of AWOL because it would mean she decided this, but I feel for her family if so.

Military doesn't even go after AWOLs, waste of money. They just wait for the AWOL to try and get a job or drivers licence and trigger their warrant.

I assume only this reward would be for anyone Military or non-Military.
Leading to Vanessa. Maybe even Military family member who lives on base.

I live near and work for a construction company with a contract to pave the roads on a base on the East Coast. We have had to jump through hoops to get our guys approved to work on base in the last 2 months. I've sent our employee list probably 4 separate times since March to get them checked and re-checked to get approval to go on base to pave. We also get weekly emails letting us know what buildings are "closed" (off limits) and were sent a letter to show if anyone stopped any of our guys asking what we were doing there. Things are starting to ease up but I imagine it would have been difficult for a civilian to get on base April 22nd at Fort Hood. MOO

Just fyi during non-covid times, contractor employees have to fill out an application to work on base, get approved (background check), and then show your license to have it scanned every time you go through the gates to get on base. They check everyone in the car's ID and scan it when entering one of two gates on base. Leaving, however there aren't even gates, you just drive past the guard house. Of course it could be different at Fort Hood but there are probably some consistent operating procedures

I don't know the following, does anyone know? CAR: I have heard she wanted a new car in the future. Where is her old car? Did she have one, and if so, is it just sitting there? TY and sorry to be behind. If her car is left, along with her personal items, then I can't see AWOL. JMO

Thank you. I cannot visualize an AWOL situation unless it looks like clothes, meds, and vital records were packed and taken from her home.

I'd like to see the Army look over every square inch of that base and also address how they will improve surveillance for the future. Both searching and improving survelliance would not be "wasted" efforts at all, but excellent training, if they are worried about that. But a beast as big as the Army can barely stir.

I am worried about a cover-up. It wouldn't be unheard of. I just can't understand how there is no information. I get the feeling that we won't know what happened.

Investigators are still searching for Army Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, a Fort Hood soldier who has been missing for almost three weeks.

U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACID) is offering up to $15,000 for "credible information" regarding Guillen's whereabouts, a CID press release said.

Chris Grey, spokesman for USACID, told Task & Purpose that CID special agents "have been working around the clock since the disappearance of Pfc. Guillen and are continuing to do everything in their power to determine where she is."

"They have conducted dozens of interviews, followed up on all credible investigative leads and assisted with extensive searches by air and ground of Fort Hood."

Army investigators are working alongside civilian authorities including the FBI, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Belton Police Department.

"They are committed to finding Pfc. Guillen and will not stop until they do," Grey said. "They are encouraging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and contact Army CID, the Military Police or their local law enforcement agency."

M. Guillen told KWTX her family is hopeful that someone "can tell us something...anything...something concrete," to help them find her sister.

"Honestly, all we want is her with us...nothing else," she said.
