Seems like that is the theme over and over again. A male who, thinks he is owed a female

This is a serious ongoing issue and what's the solution? We have an unhealthy dose of toxic masculinity combined with weapons.

After Texas school shooting, Houston police chief shares Facebook message to gun rights advocates: ‘De-friend me’

Just hours after 10 people were killed in a school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, the police chief in nearby Houston issued a defiant condemnation of elected officials who had failed to act on gun control, saying he had “hit rock bottom.”

In a statement on Facebook, the chief, Art Acevedo, wrote that he had “shed tears of sadness, pain and anger” after the shooting, which happened about 35 miles away.

“I know some have strong feelings about gun rights but I want you to know I’ve hit rock bottom and I am not interested in your views as it pertains to this issue,” he wrote. “Please do not post anything about guns aren’t the problem and there’s little we can do. My feelings won’t be hurt if you de-friend me and I hope yours won’t be if you decide to post about your views and I de-friend you.”

I understand how he feels. It's tiring hearing them respond to every single mass shooting with "DON'T TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY. That's literally the only thing these people care about. Children are dying and their ONLY concern is that their precious guns will be taken away. It's pretty sad really.

Attorney cites bullying reports; school says untrue

The attorney for the suspected Texas high school gunman says “it appears” there might have been “teacher-on-student” bullying of shooting suspect Dmitrios Pagourtzis prior to the attack.

Nicholas Poehl says he’s read reports of his client being bullied by football coaches at Santa Fe high school, where 10 people were killed and 13 wounded Friday. But he said, “I don’t have confirmation on that.”

In an online statement, however, the school district says it investigated bullying accusations and “confirmed that these reports were untrue.”

It can be very difficult to determine who is bullying who. For example, some reports say that the shooter was bullied. Yet one of the victim's family reports that the shooter was harassing and bullying their daughter.

Both can be correct. Other males may have bullied him on his football team and then he took it out on the girl he liked when she rejected him. I had a similiar thing happen to me. An older football player jock who was 17 asked me out. I was 13 and looked 10. I said no he freaked out. He stalked, harrassed and assaulted me. He has not punished by the police, nor my school until he asaulted me in gym class with over 100 witnesses. I fought back and I was the one who was almost expelled. My PE instructor stood up for me and he was given suspension and removed from the wrestling and footbal team. Then I had those team members harrassing me. I'm lucky his parents didn't own or buy him guns.

The 17 year old you describe sounds like the bully with other people defending, not bullying him. Nothing in the story as you describe it sounds like 17 year old was bullied and re-directed his aggression onto you because of that.

I don't buy it for one moment. There were signs and clues something was wrong with this teenager. Some responsibility falls on the parents. Jmo

If you asked the teens they all knew he was off. His parents probably suspected something but cannot admit it because of lawsuits. There's always red flags if people are paying attention.

I only summarized what they claim in their statement. They claim they believed him to be sweet and quiet boy and this was just completely unexpected. Their statement reads to me as if they expect him to be reprimanded for his behavior and send right on home.

I fear the affluenza defense will be brought up and he'll just get a slap on the wrist.

I saw the expert on TV say that after these shootings other students who barely know the suspect (if at all) claim the suspect was bullied because that is what expected. People assume these type of suspects were bullied.
I don't think supposed bullying if it happened at all had anything to do with this.
This suspect apparently kept making advances to the girl who rejected him. Apparently a short time prior to shooting the rejection was done publicly and that embarrassed him. I am guessing that's the trigger.

I'd like to know how his male friends and dad talked to him about being rejected. Did they tease him? egg him on to stalk her?

In this country a girl saying "no", can be deadly.

I live in fear everytime I'm asked out. Being married doesn't stop men from asking, trying and I fear each time they do not take rejection well.

What makes you think he is from a rich family? They lived in a trailer park. For affluenza defense, don't you actually have to be rich?

"After the massacre, police rushed to the trailer park were Pagourtzis lived amid reports it had been booby-trapped with explosives."

He is confused.
After shooting 10 people (at least) and now he is confused. Insanity plea?

More than 10, since 10 are dead and more are in the hospital. As for being "confused" I don't think that qualifies one for insanity plea.

His teammates were bullies and in turn bullied others. I witnessed it. They tortured weak children. School did nothing to stop them because they were popular high school jocks. I stood my ground, called the police, refused to back down.

The shooter sounds to me like he proved himself to have a mentality not unlike that of a very violent rapist. If he was mocked, the obvious explanation was that he deserved that and worse. Bravo to those teachers and students who had been foresighted, unselfish and brave enough to give other students beforehand an idea of the evil of the shooter, whether through mockery or putting him in fear of death and damnation should he do evil acts. Bravo to the girl who mocked his excessively aggressive advances. She is a hero. Her behavior definitely proved to be righteous and prophetic, and such strong resistance to would-be tyrants often is even effective from the point of self-interest, though sadly this last did not prove to be so in her case, which only makes her more worthy to be treated as a hero.

Sometimes, especially with little knowledge of the character of those involved, it can be hard to tell resisting bullies from bullying, but they are not at all the same behavior, any more than justice is the same as crime, and when the object of whatever it be proves himself highly evil, nothing that had been directed at him should be called bullying without very strong evidence to the contrary, in my opinion. To do otherwise is just a form of victim blaming that puts one in league with the evil bully. The mainstream media seems very susceptible to that.

I thought it was reported he lived in a trailer alone, his dad owns a marina and lived somewhere else. Let me recheck the sources.

It can be deadly in any country. If he kept pestering his co-worker at work to date him, it would have been considered sexual harassment and he could have been fired.

To the “ cannot admit” lot’s of ppl cannot admit, like when it’s obvious that a person’s one arm is smaller then the other and the answer is, what do you mean?

Or won’t tell friends that grandson is in prison for life.

People like that can’t be trusted.
