So who had the felony warrant?

Did you not see the word IF in my post? [What if they suddenly discover that one of the guys has a felony warrant out on him? ]

Miller completely stopped the investigation while officers attempted to move him away from the suspects.

That's what I saw when viewing the video of this case.

JMO

Pffft - doubt that without a statement by LE.

Suspects... of what?

I agree that the charges will be dropped and find it sad that some are crowing in delight about a possible smudge on the record of Miller.

Who is crowing in delight?

Was it an investigation though? Were his friends suspects? It sounds like they were just asking the men some questions. I don't think any of them were charged with anything, or arrested, or put in handcuffs. And so far I haven't seen anything explaining why they were doing it.

Based on the video (I admit there's more to know/see), imo, the officer overreacted when he tazered him.

Officer Goodie said it was because of drug activity in the area. This leads me to conclude that in general the area was prone to drug activity but nothing happened that day or evening that would cause her to be looking for a suspect of a crime.

^ bbm Nothing happened?

I do not have access to ---
- all the MSM vids taken at that scene, so I don't know what was edited out for TV.
- all the cell or private vids taken at that scene, whether posted on SM or elsewhere online.
- Prairie View PD blotter for that day or evening or days, weeks, months before.
- Prairie View PD reports Goodie or other LEOs at that scene wrote previously for incidents in that neighborhood.
- Prairie View arrest reports for the three (four?) men at the scene and being questioned.
-Prairie View arrest reports for Miller, if any.

Hoping any ppl w this info will share w us on Websleuths, as some here wd/like to have more info.
Some of us are not drawing 'final' conclusions about this alleged crime, based only on quickie clips we've seen so far.
Some are.

Actually, imo, Officer Goodie appeared to be the one who made the initial 'stop'. She seemed to pretty much have things all squared away with the four friends when Councilman Miller came out of his house and asked what was happening. Officer Goodie and Councilman Miller discussed the matter and it seemed to me like they were just about to wrap it all up (at least one of the four friends had his hands up the whole time) when Officer Kelley (who had been totally silent) decided to butt in and told Councilman Miller to back up, to get over there, and it instantly escalated, to where there was some sort of tussle, (or Officer Kelley tripped on a tree trunk, maybe) and Kelley and Miller seemed to both end up on the ground, Kelley's camera fell off, and next thing you know is Miller was on his knees with his hands at his sides and Kelley told him to put his hands behind his back, and almost without waiting for compliance, shot him in the back with the two-pronged taser.

Some more police arrived, including a couple of fat out of shape ones, (one of which might have been the Chief of Police). Then, everyone stood around and waited for the EMS people to arrive with their alcohol, gauze, and band-aids to remove the taser prongs from Miller's back.

Officer Goodie talked some more with the four friends and they were allowed to disperse.

Officer Kelley did not have his 'Miranda Rights' card with him so he requested Officer Goodie to get hers for him. He read Miller his rights and drove him off to jail.

The 'Chief' kept telling people not to talk while their or anyone's cameras were recording. At one point he can be seen walking off with a fellow officer who could have been his twin, or at least his body double. I guess they were discussing what exactly to do with the situation.

In my view, if Officer Kelley hadn't butted in and he had simply waited another minute or two, nothing would have happened. Up until the time he butted in, Goodie seemed to have it all under control and was doing nicely.

Kelley needs more training, imo. He reminds me of the guy in Cinncinnati who killed Sam Dubose.

Here is the 30 minute Officer Kelley Body Cam video:

Exactly. Simple, direct, concise, respectful. If they had started with that they wouldn't even have needed to ask him to put his hands behind his back. How hard would it have been?

They did start by being polite and respectful. He still ignored the requests.

There's a good chance, imo, the charges are going to be dropped.

What's the going rate for Tazing lawsuits now, $40k?

Chuckles - a death by US LE that they can't prove justified or think they won't be able to prove justified is in the range of 5 - 6 mil these days judging by many an LE type death thread - most removed - unnecessary tasing will get 'ya way less than that in the US imo.

They were out of town guests?

And I think it was happening in an apt. building parking lot. They were just being questioned.

It is fine to go look at what is happening. but he should have complied upon the first request to stand back. He ignored several requests and two warnings.

They called it a homecoming so I assumed they (the guests) were former residents of that area.
Miller said he lived there and Goodie said she knew that.
IMO he was trying to find out what was happening and to assure the officers that they had made an error in questioning these men. They were his guests and he could vouch for them. IMO

Granted we can only base our opinion on what we have seen so far. I agree. But I'm going by the comment of Officer Goodie that the issue/investigation was due to drug activity of boys and girls in cars and that is why she felt compelled to investigate. IMO

People go to the homecoming even if they live in the area. The councilman graduated in 2005 so his friends may have as well. They probably still live in the area but who knows.

he had already told the officer all of the above and then was asked to step back. He did not need to hover over the situation.

You do have access to what is reported to have happened that day. Anything to share?

So you really have no idea if anything had happened that day that they wanted to check out.

Suspects... of what?

That's a good question. It's one that councilman Miller could have asked later on instead of interfering with a police investigation.

I know it's higher if the person dies and I didn't search too hard, but this is where I got the 40k:

According to Officer Goodie it was due to drug activity. No indication that something had happened that day in the area.IMO

It was Homecoming Week at Prairie View A&M University.

Homecoming 2015 (The New View: Expanding the Tradition)
October 4 @ 8:00 am - Oct 10 11:00 pm

The men were fellow graduates and had been fraternity brothers and were from out of town, I believe.
