Seems to be one of the first civil suits resulting from the car speeding matter.

Is it awful quiet on any criminal matters or charges involving this? Would have thought there would have been more announced on this by now. Maybe it will become more clear before the start of the ‘season’. MOO

Of note from the article IIUC:

Rice pled guilty to multiple third degree felonies. This includes five (5) years probation. 30 days in jail.

The Lamborghini Urus SUV Rice was driving in March 2024 was traveling in excess of 119 mph on the Dallas’ North Central Expressway. It then lost control triggering a collision involving five other vehicles, six total including the vehicle Rice was driving.

119 mph……. It isn’t clear IMO whether or not Rice’s driving privileges will be revoked or suspended. Apparently the Kansas City Chiefs and NFL have not made comment on the latest IIUC.

A statement from the Chiefs states: “The club is aware of the reports. With it being an ongoing legal matter, we won’t have a comment at this time.”

IANAL. But with sentence having been made, IMO it is no longer an ‘ongoing legal matter’. MOO

Glad to post the latest update @TwinkieDefense ….. IANAL….. but I imagine that the civil case(s) might still proceed even in the wake of this criminal case? Unless they settle separately as well? But maybe an attorney will weigh in on this.

I also found it somewhat light as well as far as consequences for that conduct. Unfortunately. That speed and the carnage. The absence of any response from the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL is also not comforting. Particularly since IIUC the legal matter of the criminal case is completed. SMH. MOO
