GUILTY TX - Riley 'Baby Grace' Sawyers, 2, brutally murdered, Spring, 24 July 2007

I have a question what was her eye color, I guess I have missed it. I am also looking at Adrianna Wix. They list her eyes blue. Also, at what age does a child have their true eye color. All of my kids had Blue eyes at birth and 2 of the girls are hazel now and have been since about 4 years of age

Blue eyes are common at birth, but they can change color up to six months of age.

Celestia does look like Baby Grace, But what bothers me is her Missing date of Oct. 23. and Baby Grace was found Oct. 31 with her estimated death of 2 weeks prior, and the length of her hair..JMO

sorry, I forgot to post this part in my post above, I am new at this, this is why I came to my conculsion, sorry for the misunderstanding if I created one
Circumstances: Celestia and Everett were last seen on October 23, 2007. They may be in the company of their non-custodial father. They may have traveled to New York or Los Angeles, California.

I really think Baby Grace is Deonna. Didn't her missing details say her dad was a mental case and that they were headed South towards Mexico/Texas? Also, he is quoted as saying "If I cannot have her, no one will." :(

Details of Disappearance
Deonna was abducted by her non-custodial father, Jeffery Shipman, on July 12, 2007. A federal felony warrant for Kidnapping was issued for the Jeffery Shipman on July 18, 2007. They may travel to England or Germany

Distinguishing Characteristics: He has
a history of mental health issues and may be suicidal

also other pictures of Deonna

Is there anyone here that has any idea how we can get this baby's case out of the archives and up in the spotlight......soon?

Nobody cares?

Yes, people care. There is a forum under "The Unidentified" and then find where it says child's body found in Galveston . That's where everyone visits and posts comments, that is where I've been. There's lots there!

I agree with you.....her photo is alarmingly similar to the BG sketch.

Hi
I think the sketches they drew of her make her appear older than she really was.

The nose and the overbite from the Baby Grace sketch do look more like Karen.

OMG I looked up Deonna Shipman. How sad, its possible Baby Grace might be her. I bet her mother is absolutely devastated to hear of the possible match.

Gosh I looked at all 3 girls Baby Grace could be, it could be either Karen, Deonna, or Celestia.

http://www.amw.com/features/feature_story_detail.cfm?id=2315

I also read that Karen's dad kidnapped all 3 of the girls. That mother must be absolutely devastated.

I just do not know what to say regarding all these nasty custody battles. If parents wrre not so insistent on getting sole custody, having the other parent pay through the nose for Cs, limit visitation, many of these kidnappings would not be happening.

All of those Matusiewicz kids are beautiful girls. I bet mom is a wreck.

Hi Nocgirl,

I can't imagine what it must be like to be a parent dealing with custody issues like you describe. Much of what goes on in the family courts is truly unfair and changes are surely needed.

Unfortunately, a parent who kidnaps his/her own child(unless proven abuse has occurred) IMO has chosen this path out of utter selfishness. He/She has shown that selfishconcerns matter more to him or her than the well-being of the child, since never being allowed to see Mommy or Daddy again has to be an utter devastation to a child.

IMO,(in most cases) these abductive parents have proven by their actions that the judge made the correct call in the first place. They obviously don't have what it takes to forgo their own wants and desires for the sake of their children.

IMO, a parent who would do this is most likely a narcissist(sp?) and likely also to be dangerous. After reading several of Jeffery Shipman's old posts on various forums, I found it very hard to see where he had Deonna's best interests at heart.

Do you have a link to Jeffrey's Shipman's posts? I am curious to read them.

Divorces are often bitter. Not every parent that kidnaps their child is psycho or out to hurt the child. Some I think are so fed up with the system they do not know what else to do.

Many parents do not have their kids best interest in mind. It's all about getting back at the other parent for the marriage breaking up, the affair, or whatever. Parents split, mom files for divorce and an automatic restraining order (which many times is complete bullcrap) used as a ploy to be given custody if they can keep dad away from the kids.

Much of what is said during a custody trial is simply not true. I understand in some cases a threat is apparant, but people really need to think twice with who they have kids with. These traits just do not come out overnight.

I am not trying to downplay the seriousness of the matter, but if Jeffrey Shipman had mental health issues, don't have a child with him. Love is blind and many people turn the other cheek to issues they know about but choose to ignore. It only then becomes and issue when they divorce.

I have to post regarding some of the statements about custody battles. I can promise you that the desire for shared parenting in divorce cases is a pie in the sky considering most of the situations that cause divorce. Parental kidnapping is about control-unless you have some kind of bizarre inequity in you appearances before the judge, there can be very few good reasons to snatch your kids and run. It sure can't be in their best interests...there is a reason Mom was given sole custody of her children-and the fact that the dads in these cases grabbed the kids and ran is a great example that the judgements were correct. the threat of kidnapping or harm to the kids is a great hook to continue to control the other spouse...trust me I have been through it.

Moms are given sole many times because the dads just do not have it in them to fight, and many believe as a father they probably have no chance of sole or even joint. That is just not true. My husband is a TERRIFIC father and very close to his 3 kids, his wife was given sole. Why? Because he absolutely refused to put his kids through a custody battle and just gave her sole. He has liberal visitation though with the 2 that are under 18 and even though mom has sole, she does not call the shots on everything. He did put a geographic restriction in there just in case she tried to move with the kids. By the way this is the same wonderful mom who's new husband had sex with his 15 year old daughter/my stepdaughter and was just sent to prison for 10 years. Oh yeah, mom already has another guy living with her. The now 17 yr old wants to come back and live with us, again.

Until men are given more fair treatment in the court room, we will continue to hear stories like this.

I am active on a legal message board that is busy and more than often I see women on a power trip that want sole so that they can get up and move where they want, so that they do not need any permission to do anything from the father. It is just ridiculous. Of course the men that try and pull this too are also wrong and they also have to be reminded it should be about the kids.

I really admire parents that can work it out and be civil. If me and my husbabd ever split, I would give him joint easily. He is a great dad.

Police look into possible connection in missing girl case

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was mid July and Lioubov Shipman was frantic. She had allowed her ex-husband Jeffrey to take their daughter Deonna for an overnight visit. The little girl had not come home.

“I don't even know if she's alive. I don't even know if I'm going to see her. All I have is memories left of her and pictures to look at,” said Lioubov Shipman. (snip)

I'm sorry that I didn't keep track of the links to Mr. Shipman's posts. You can find a few of them by searching "Deonna's Dad" on Google.
