Are you really so blind that you cannot see that you are doing the exact same thing against cops? Those are YOUR words. If I replace 'police' with 'Muslims' it sounds very bigoted, right?

I'm not going to argue with you about this. You asked a question. I answered.

That article is from 2010. I cannot find anything newer thsn this thst talks sbout the new ban.

http://www.france24.com/en/20130528-taser-france-police-regulation-human-rights

I know because of the incident at the resort and asking why it was handled the way it was as the 18 were throwing big rocks into the restaurant.

This would have been a gun fight in the US.

No place is free from people having issues. We were all surprised as hubby was having coffee with a friend on a Sunday morning.

He was very impressed with the waitresses. He was not impressed with LE as he thought they should have been more aggressive. These fighting families have their relatives and buddies and because of how things were handled, things were cooled down instead of the fight being carried on for months in other locations,

I couldn't find anything saying that France currently has a ban on Tasers's. I saw that same article you have linked and it is about wanting new restrictions on the use of Taser's.

I don't know if an incident like you described would be a gunfight in the US. For one thing you need more than one disappearing gun to have gunfight. LOL.

If the police asked me to step out of my car, I would ask why.

who knew that you would have to be aksed to step lut of your car for switching lanes and not signaling.

When LE or fire are zooming by, I was always focused on looking at traffic and looking where I coukd pull kver safely. I never though about signaling. I figure every other dirver is looking to see where they can pull over too.
With mire than ine lane and cars oarked and intersections, there are a lot of decisions to be made when you see emergency vehicles.

A couple of times I was surprised it was for me.

Years ago my speedometer did not work and I did not know I was speeding.

I wonder how many people actually know what to do when LE stops you except to be bummed out.

No one here, to my knowledge, is putting all LE in the same bad apple cart. Some LE are rogue, some Muslims are radical. BOTH types should be exposed for what they are and rooted out. JMO
Now can we get back to the Sandra Bland case? TY

Why am I afraid of Muslims? Unless one knows one personally, who knows which one is a rogue?

See how that^^^^^ might be seen as bigoted????

Actually, I have seen quite a bit of that mindset around these threads recently.

But I digress, it's not right. The majority of LE, at least in Canada, are good people. JMO

Actually, she ASKED HIM A QUESTION TO HIS POLITE REQUEST. She simply ASKED BE "I'm in my car, Why do I have to put out my cigarette?" He then ignored her and ordered her out of her car.

How is asking a question to a LEO's polite request (NOT a lawful order) "coping an attitude?"

It would be different IF she had said something like "I'm in my car so no I will not put it out." But she did NOT say that nor did she refuse to put it out. Again, she asked him Why???? She was not challenging him to a lawful order. She was asking him a question in regards to a polite request he made of her.
I can't believe asking a question is seen as "coping an attitude." I suppose I'm coppin an attitude all day. I've been pulled over quite a few times over the last 20 years for speeding and I have asked questions to LEO's and I have never had one to ignore my question let alone order me out of my car for asking it.
IMO, asking a question with no cursing - just a simple question asked in a matter of fact tone - is not having an "attitude."
agree to disagree.

He asked her to put out the cig, and she did not put it out. She said why do I have to, I am in my car...That is denying his request, in a passive/aggressive fashion. If she wanted to get on her way she would have just stopped with the resistance and accepted the warning ticket/

Have you seen any of her videos? She absolutely hated 'the devil'==her term for white cops. Can you imagine how some of that hostility and hatred might have been coming through during their interaction?

I am sure you have asked questions of LEOS, many times. But do you have inner rage and seething anger against them, and make lots of social media rants about how abusive and evil they are? If so, your questions might have taken on a different tone that the cop would have picked up on. JMO

I know about Western Union but have never used it. Do you have to have cash?

What hours are they open? Are they everywhere?

The Paypal would solve it, but if you do not have an account, you have to get money into it.

If you do not have enough money in your cc or bank account, how would you deposit money into those accounts on the weekend?

It takes awhile to transfer my payment from my bank to my cc. The account is linked from my bank and the money taken out. But it does not show up right away.

If you don't have any money and your friends and family don't have any money, you can't get a bail bondsman to post your bond and you stay in jail.

Maybe that's what happened to Sandra. JMO

They have guns. They have the power to make your life miserable. Call it what you will. I am afraid.

I know way more about the gangs than I ever wanted to know. I worked in South Central LA in a high school and saw it all up very close and personal.

here is from 5 hours ago:

GANG SHOOTINGS SPARK TACTICAL ALERT IN SOUTH LOS ANGELES

Sunday, July 26, 2015 08:34AM
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police issued a tactical alert Saturday night after multiple gang shootings in South Los Angeles.

http://abc7.com/news/gang-shootings-spark-tactical-alert-in-south-los-angeles-/882182/

The tactical alert area spanned from Vernon Avenue to Manchester Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard to Figueroa and San Pedro streets.

Los Angeles police officials from the 77th Division said officers were investigating at least five shootings in the area. The tactical alert was issued as all their resources dealt with the shootings and other divisions were brought in to help answer other calls.

At about 4:10 p.m., at least one person was killed at 81st and Hoover streets. Authorities said a suspect drove up to the victim and shot him multiple times. The suspect in this shooting remained at large, and authorities say this incident was gang related.

Katy, you have a completely different perspective on the dangers facing LE than most people.
Most LE don't have to deal with working in what amounts to a warzone. Areas like South Los Angeles are an anomaly in the world of policing. JMO

Respectfully snipped for space, ... Only answer I know.... we don't know, nor will we ever know, because it didn't happen.
JMHO, next line matters to me in this ...

Encinia: You mind putting out your cigarette, please? If you don't mind?

Bland: I'm in my car, why do I have to put out my cigarette?

Encinia: Well you can step on out now.

Bland: I don’t have to step out of my car.

Yeah, we will never know and that is crappy. Too bad BE couldn't just answer her question instead of ignoring her and ordering her out of the car. My point in this exchange is that IF he had done what is IMO the right thing and the professional thing and that was to answer her question as to why he is politely asking her to put out her cig while she is sitting in her own vehicle then the next events very well could have been avoided. If he would have said something like "yes, you're right you don't have to put it out I was kindly asking because ....." Then perhaps she would have felt respected and at least acknowledged and she could have put it out at that point.
My point is if he had simply provided her with an explanation and since she did not have to lawfully put it out it seems only reasonable to provide her with an answer.,..none of this would have happened.....that is what I'm upset about. It is HIS J-O-B IMO to de-escalate situations and it is HIS Job to do the right thing NOT hers. He is on the clock working a job that he has been trained to do. SB is NOT a LEO. She has NOT been trained to de-escalate sitautions with the police. IMO, BE has all the control and power here and he is the one who chose to treat her the way he did and therefore the events that folded afterwards are because of him. (Nope, I am not referring to her death. I won't even get into my thoughts on that here.)
We don't know what would have happened if BE would have answered a simple question to a polite request he made (not an order) and IMO because we will never know that is what makes me so angry..things could have gone a lot differently. Maybe Sandra wouldn't be dead today.

I do wonder, what does anyone here do when you are driving and you see a police car? If the car is ahead do you slow down and not pass? If you see one ahead do you look at your speed? Are you oblivious to them being around you until they do something that gets your attention? curious I am. At what point do you (the ones that watched the video) think Sandra saw the police car?

I always grip the steering wheel a little tighter when the man is behind me. JMO

Why is that? I don't think that everyone in the US is carrying a gun while in public. JMO.

here are the words that I am responding to:

"...The police are the worst bullies in out society. They pick on the poor, they pick on the defenseless, They beat homeless people to death, they shoot mentally ill people, they shoot black kids in the back. The list goes on and on."

It sounds to me like LE are being painted with a very broad brush here. JMO

I think that SHE did not have money. I also think that her family was willing to post the amount needed to bail her, but they DID need to know the exact amount and where to send it. She found out officially on Saturday afternoon. JMO, but no one communicated to her that help was imminent. I do not know why, but because she couldn't post her own bail, it was going to take some time and communication to arrange it. JMO

  • #497
And that means then that ALL of the cops kill homeless people? Because that is what is being said here.

I don't get some of these posts myself. Lumping all cops do this and all Americans will get in a gunfight over an argument is ridiculous. JMO

In certain situations I am too. I wouldn't talk to one without a lawyer, that's for sure.

Sure it would take some time. A few hours seems reasonable to me. JMO.

Because they were all drug dealers fighting over a drug deal
