JBean said:well i asked about the Rolex because they cost thousands of dollars. While the article says no one knew that she had it,(except the ex-dh) that is not true. Whoever she bought it from knew she had it.
This is probably neither here nor there, but a beautiful single lady purchasing an extremely expensive watch might catch my attention if i were a bad guy. But I seem to think the police think the watch was stolen to throw off the investigation, so I am really just thinking out loud.
deannegold said:Izzy B. Just read the article you mentioned. Sorry, I didn't understand when I replied. Yes, it does make sense that LE might wonder if anyone has been surprised with a "gift" of a Rolex. Can't remember at the moment, but didn't LE say that maybe the killer took Walker's jewelry to make it look like a robbery? If so I would think LE would know too that since the watch contains samples of DNA, the killer would also have been smart enough not to give it to someone as a gift. Unrelated to the Rolex, a source supposedly very close to Walkers family particularly her father, claims LE told them they're "close to making an arrest." However, area journalists worry the father especially, is only being pacified as were the loved ones in the quadruple homicides. I don't know enough to have an opinion but I must believe LE is not only on top of things- but being open and honest with Walker's family. Praying for both LE and the Walker family.
Scout said:IMO, these are the two most significant statements in that Dallas Morning News article:
Capt. Roland misstates. Sarah's ex-husband, Randy Tate, knew of the watch and made a point of talking about it on Greta Van Susteren's show. I said before that I believe he is trying to throw the investigators off-track. This latest article bolsters my conviction. They are trying to smoke him out. Wait and see.
deannegold said:Good points. J. Bean and Scandi about the cuts removing people from the suspect list. I think an article said police found a receipt for the Rolex. I hadn't thought about it being fake, but if so, it's possible police are keeping it quiet to ferret out informaition from the public? Starting to worry a little that LE might not be able to bring this one to closure. If not, it's surely not a lack of tremendous effort but instead bad luck.
close_enough said:is there an article that states that Sarah actually bought the Rolex herself???...i can't remember exactly what Tate said Sarah told him about the watch....i know he said, that he thought to himself, that it was way too big/real loose..
Jeana (DP) said:Doesn't Rolex keep records when a watch is bought or sold, even second hand? I know they keep service records on every watch sold.

Searching Ms. Walker's Frisco home, police collected a Rolex box and receipt, according to the search warrant affidavit. Capt. Roland said the receipt shows that Ms. Walker purchased the watch the day before she died.
close_enough said:you do have me thinking, Scout....i would think that LE checked Tate's hands & maybe his entire body from the get-go...they have said he's cooperating, so i would think they already know if he had fresh cuts, face/head wounds or visible bruises....seems it would be very easy to rule him out as a 'real' suspect, especially if he's cooperating with any kind of blood test....
hmmmm, interesting...

Dallas Morning News
FWIW, I'm still thinking, too. This news of a cut palm has caused me to falter. I'm still very suspicious of Randy Tate, but I need more info.
deannegold said:The idea about police checking DNA of friends, co-workers etc is a good one, but without probable cause, there's no reason for anyone to volunteer. Unfortunately, labs are increasingly in the news for errors. Stories of innocent people freed from prison after new DNA tests are nothing new. Although highly unlikely, imagine an innocent person wanting to be helpful and volunteering his or her DNA. Then imagine a screw-up by by the technician, detective or lab. Suddenly that person's gone from an innocent helper to suspect facing capital murder charges. nn. I would never advise one of my clients to volunteer anything to police. Too risky in an increasingly bureaucratic society. As for the Rolex and ring being stolen from Sarah's body, maybe I've missed something, but I've not read where LE has proof of that. While Captain Roland's statement is it is terribly irresponsible to state it as fact. Again unlikely, but as a former defense attorney, I wonder how does he or anyone else know that Sarah didn't buy the ring for other purposes? How does he or anyone know she wasn't just wearing it until it changed hands? You have to understand that case is being investigated by news journalists and PI's supposedly on behalf of lawyers.

What if she was waiting for someone 'special' to come to the house and she was giving the watch to them as a gift? Oversized band for a guy, correct? And maybe the jealous and irate 3rd party, came instead or beat him there to kill her, as I strongly believe the perp came to do her in as fast as she/he could and get out of there pronto in case a new homebuyer showed up.
Pretty daring and audacious to perform this in a small window in daylight, so there must have been anger equal to the level of that audacious act! And then it would make sense for that killer to take the watch and fling it far away into a grove of trees or water somewhere.
I'm just thinking aloud here.
JBean, you mentioned several of the stab wounds were made post mortem. I guess I missed the link that stated this, and am wondering if it also stated what kiind of knife was used - hunting, pen, kitchen or a switchblade?
