So the statement from DHS claiming the ICE agents were victims is in error, unless there’s some solid evidence that ICE agents were also victims. If not, DHS needs to clarify.

There would be no error in saying ICE agents were victims, someone was trying to assasinate them, they were being shot at and witnessed other humans being hit and dying and not being able to save them. Their families know they could be killed anytime at work, they all now have a lifetime of dealing with surviving this horrific attack. If the shooter had survived, he would have been charged with murder and attempted murder.
ALL of the victims, deceased and alive, and their families should be on the minds of anyone offerring prayers.

The flyer is visible in multiple MSM images and also on MSM news remote camera/video angles you can see it on the rear right quarter panel of the car, though that news video is zoomed out and nothing on the paper would be clearly visible from that angle / distance.

As for the ammo, I’ll wait until the examination of the evidence is complete. You know, ballistics to verify that ammo was compatible with the weapon used in the crime. Did it have fingerprints or DNA of the shooter? Can they trace the ammo to its source? Did it belong to his father or other relative or did he purchase it on his own? I assume it’s been carefully retrieved, logged in and properly stored. Same with the weapon. What kind of weapon was used? Was it also retrieved, etc.

As for the poster or paper flyer, it should follow the same chain of custody, etc. and be tested for fingerprints, DNA, etc. as well as the vehicle it was allegedly attached to. You know, the routine parts of any investigation. Where did it come from? Was it retrieved from the internet and printed? What printer was used? Have they searched the shooter’s residence, confiscated his computer and cell phone? Are there records on those devices that verify he downloaded that poster and printed it?

It’s routine procedure in most murder investigations. I’m not sure why some public officials recently are jumping ahead of standard investigation procedures to disseminate evidence and make claims to the public when they’ve barely begun the investigation.

ETA: We follow murder cases here all the time. We know the procedures for good investigations and why they’re important. We know we have to be patient until all the evidence is gathered and tested because it’s important to not jump to conclusions. I’m uncomfortable with the way the media and some agencies are handling these recent cases.

I'm curious about his employment history. Why did he lose his job? Industry lay-offs, replaced by AI, behavior/performance issues? Or, did he quit?

Did he have job prospects in OK? Or, was he moving there because he doesn't have a job and was hoping to re-group?

In regards to officers and bullet proof gear.....

Just like guns come in different calibres with different degrees of power, bullet proof vests come in different degrees of stopping ability. This stopping ability ranges from "pistols only" to various types of rifles via supplementing usual bullet proof material with high tech ceramic plates etc.

The gun used was not a pistol. Rather, it was a rifle that is powerful by any definition of the word. Thus, it would have required one of the "max" type bullet proof vests to have any chance of stopping the bullet. These vests are bulky,, heavy and cumbersome. They are usually worn only when officers know they are facing that level of threat.

Making a long story short, I doubt a officer was hit and that vest stopped the bullet.

I haven't heard anything about a scope. My suspicion is that he wanted to shoot up ICE and wasn't aiming that well.

I also think he intended and thought he was shooting at ICE agents. Not only is that a heinous idea and motive, he ended up murdering people who were not his target. imo

But, I do think it's accurate to describe this as an attack on ICE personnel, even if he didn't succeed in his goal. imo

AND this same facility had a threat recently and a different facility in Texas had a shooting also recently, but thankfully that agent is going to live. There have been very real threats to ICE agents in recent months, protests, and other actions that would lead to ICE agents being in danger.

I know what it looks like based on what’s been released, but I don’t believe we have confirmation if it was the ICE agents or the detainees that were targeted. There is evidence, based on what has been released, that points to him being on either side of the ideological fence, so I personally am going to wait until they confirm who the specific targets were and see what evidence they have to prove that. Not saying anyone else should do the same though, because I understand everyone is entitled to make of the information available what you will.

Terror attacks, rampage shootings etc. can bring out "copy cats" who only have a fuzzy idea as to what they are copying.

In general, and not directed at the validity of your observation, the possibility of a fuzzy thinking "copy cat" should not detract from his stated political motivations. Such detractions insults the intended victims.

Error? I don't see an error.

If I try to commit a terrorist attack against a group of people based on say, their LGBTQ status, but..... my weapon jams before I can actually hit anybody, my intended targets are still victims.

Likewise, if I do accidently kill a conservative religious person while making the attack, that fact would also not change my intended LGBTQ targets are still victims.

The above aside, there are vary degrees of being victimized. But..... victim status simply does not change based on employment, political views, religious views etc. Nor is victim status based on whether or not I personally find the targets to be attractive.

It's reminding me of the man who shot at the CDC office in Atlanta this summer. That shooter shot from a rooftop at a CDC building. In this today's situation in Dallas, it seems like the perp shot from a rooftop at an ICE building and van.

I think he targeted the agency, but was uncontrolled in the attack - he opened fire and hit whomever he hit.

If it turns out he wasn't taregeting the agency he shot at, I will change my mind. But for now, it certainly looks like a man atop a roof purposely shooting at an ICE agency as he saw the van approach the entrance.
