TX - Shots fired, injuries reported at ICE facility in Dallas - Sept 24, 2025

The sniper who opened fire on the Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office, killing one detainee and wounding two detainees, was targeting ICE agents, not detainees, officials said.

It appears Jahn hoped to "minimize any collateral damage or injury to the detainees or any other innocent people," Larson said. "It seems that he did not intend to kill the detainees or harm them."

It is possible he thought he was doing those things. As another member noted, the individual that climbs on a roof to shoot people is not thinking logically.
I guess he was logical enough to pre-plan this assault on LE.

"Dallas ICE shooter, 29,

spent SEVENTEEN THOUSAND hours

playing video games before opening fire.

A gunman who opened fire at an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement facility and killed a migrant
was a recluse with an all-consuming habit.

Joshua Jahn, 29,
spent 17,400 hours in the run up to Tuesday's shooting in Dallas
playing video games, including violent shoot-em-up adventures.

Jahn's profile on Steam
- an online gaming store -
showed he played about 17,400 hours on various games as recently as the day of the shooting.

He increasingly spent his free time gaming and posting on notorious anonymous forum 4chan,
where his outbursts fit right in.

'I mostly stopped talking to him when he took his 4chan/irony stuff into daily interactions',
one friend said."

Anti-ICE gunman Joshua Jahn’s gamer pals made ghoulish jokes after deadly shooting: ‘Shoulda hit the range a lil more’

The 29-year-old gunman played mostly first-person shooting games, logging over 17,405 hours of playing time, totaling approximately two years.

It's good that LE officials are addressing this.
Very sad that the shooter ended up killing the very person he didn't mean to target.
Again such a waste of a young life.

Yep.

"Jahn was arrested in 2015 for selling marijuana, but the felony charges were later dropped.
He has no history of violence."

Jahn used several nicknames on the site, including “#impeachment,” “Hankiebob” and “Frank Hoenikker,” a reference to the character from Kurt Vonnegut’s satirical post-modern novel “Cat’s Cradle.”

The 1963 story follows the narrator’s journey on the day the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.

A map depicting radioactive fallout in the US was also found plastered on Jahn’s car near the scene.

Thanks for the link.
So, nothing to indicate red flags as to J. Jahn's nefarious plans ?
There could be many more out there who are like him.
Scary thought.
Imo.

Assuming the shooter left that. Which I question.

Most of us that are indeed anti ICE, would not use that term. We say F ICE.

That image of the unspent rounds (do they match the weapon used?) feels as authentic as that text thread with Tyler Robinson.
He left notes at his home that make it clear that ICE was his target. Don’t know if he used the nasty rhetoric though. Maybe we will find out more.

Transparency

I am thankful for it. If they say nothing, then rumors run rampent about what coudl be going on and why is the FBI covering things up. IF they release any piece of info then it's picked apart and some will still say, it's not right or they don't believe it. I much prefer transparency no matter who the intended targets were or what the motive was. There are unwell people that don't like ICE and would carry out attacks like this for that reason, there are unwell people who don't like illegal immigrants and would carry out an attack like this for that reason. This is not about who is hated more or who would have more motive. It's about what was this person's motive and what is the evidence pointing to. At this point it seems this person was against ICE so that could speak to a motive. It could have easily been the other way and I would be equally as outranged and just as disapproving of it. NOBDOY should be killed because someone doesn't like them, their job, or what they say.

"Larson said another note said he expressed “hatred” for the federal government, using “crude” language which she did not elaborate on."

That narrows down motive - the shooter was mentally ill!

I appreciate transparency, but I don't like rushing toward it. At the risk of others misconstruing my remark, I thought today's presser was too much. Especially at the beginning of the presser, it seemed like providing a blueprint how to commit this crime. The last thing we want is to inspire someone to say, "I could do that." Instead, I'd rather a show of stoic LE force with details limited to the essential only.

Let's slow down to calm down heightened reactions. MY OPINION.

Yes, the public deserves to know what happened and NO, WE DON'T WANT INFORMATION HIDDEN, but I think waiting until attention to this crime wanes would be a better time to release details. No, I don't mean being silent, but being selective about what and when to release info.

jmopinion, with respect that others will disagree

In this case, I've seen nothing at all (and haven't seen anything in MSM) to indicate anyone's covering anything up.

Ugh, 4chan. Isn't that where the gruypers hang out? Bad news, if so

I have no idea if he was mentally ill or just filled with hate.
Maybe the latter can cause the former?
Maybe the former can make the latter easier to do?

Maybe he should have got offline, touched some grass and been a productive, contributing member to society?

I assume that anyone who is consumed by hatred against government, or other unrelated party, is mentally ill.

That's simply not normal.

Maybe not covering up but maybe not reporting everything to follow a narrative.
