This guy knew what he was doing- he knew that area was abandoned at that time and the perfect place to let everyone out of the lorry. The reason he passed out is because when he opened the lorry, he was met with piles of dead bodies and the smell of death instead of the very much alive humans he thought would come rushing out. The more that comes out the worse it looks for this guy. If this is the case, I have zero sympathy for him, he didn't care about these people/didn't want to help them. He just wanted to make some dirty, easy money. Greed knows no bounds and humanity is such a disappointment. I'm incredibly cynical for a reason- just read about the Libby Squire case as well. ugh.

Can anyone point to any other cases where the police have bought in eg family members to talk to suspect ? I can only think that he says he’ll talk after telling parents first hand what’s happened but that’s just a complete guess .

why would police do this ? Thanks

I cant think of any other cases off hand. My opinion is LE know he is cannon fodder and they want the big guys but he's not talking. Mum and dad might persuade him to see sense.

Regarding the “luxury house” mentioned on articles (it looks a lovely house ) it also actually mentions its worth £160k which I think would surprise most of us as it does look like it’s worth lots more purely based on house prices I know near me in southern England , so just pointing out this isn’t some extremely rich guy

Essex lorry deaths: tracking data reveals route in days before tragedy

GPS data from the refrigerated trailer shows it also made two trips between the UK and mainland Europe between 16 October and 22 October, the day the bodies were found in an industrial estate in Essex.

[...]

Sources have said that GPS data from the refrigerated unit shows that it left Monaghan on 15 October, before crossing into Northern Ireland, and then back south into the republic of Ireland.

It then travelled from Dublin port to Holyhead in north Wales overnight on 16 October, before crossing over to mainland Europe that evening.

It shows the trailer travelled to Dunkirk and Lille in France and Bruges. Dunkirk is 40 minute from Calais and is a known site for people-smugglers preying on migrants seeking to get across the English channel to the UK.

The data from the tracking device, which has been passed on to Essex police investigating the murders, also shows the trailer made two journeys between the UK and mainland Europe between October 17 and 22.

Post-mortems to be carried out on Essex truck bodies

The Chinese foreign ministry said at a briefing in Beijing today: "We hope the UK can verify the identities of the victims as soon as possible… no matter where these victims come from, this is a tragic case."

Yesterday evening, the first 11 victims were moved by a private ambulance with a police escort from the Port of Tilbury to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

The remaining bodies will be transported in stages, with police expecting all the victims to be moved to hospital by the end of the week.

Essex Police Chief Constable Ben-Julian Harrington said he had the "utmost confidence" in his officers as the force leads its largest-ever murder investigation.

That's useful to know. I did wonder what house prices were like in that area as you would have to pay a substantial amount more for a house like that where I live in South East England.
