I didn't mention poor - i was just making the point that assumptions shouldn't be based on the size of a house or how well it is maintained.

First post here but I've been following this case since the beginning.
I live in a small town in the North of Scotland. I know of at least two cases where the police here have destroyed vital evidence. They are not used to dealing with these sorts of crimes and getting a conviction is often jeopardised due to police incompetence. I really hope that doesn't happen in this case.

It’s crazy isn’t it. Luckily they found the evidence in the skip before it was emptied but yes it will have been contaminated due to the police officer handling it and then dumping it. Unbeliveable

Totally agree. Makes no odds how rich or poor an individual is, if they’re wired wrong they’re wired wrong regardless of class.

I can’t imagine it’s an open court. It would be a circus.

Not necessarily, only a select few will be given access I would imagine. Plus, the accused is a minor so I would definitely say it will be a closed court unfortunately.

You could go to twitter and DM reporters who have been tweeting on the case and ask them. Someone on the previous thread DM'd one of the reporters about the accused's demeanor in court and got a response.

Not sure I would want to live somewhere that requires so many of the residents to have CCTV...sounds like there may be quite a lot of “petty” crime, but crime nonetheless.

Is it possible that he called RM and his g/f on Facebook just to check if they were asleep or not before he took Alesha, if he indeed did take her?

It's a very interesting point that. Everything I know about Bute from locals I know suggests it's a lovely place to live, with old fashioned values of looking out for people and enjoying island life surrounded by beauty. I still believe that, it's just the cctv puzzles me. Undercurrents from bored kids and lack of employment are natural I think, similar to areas I know better such as Devon/Cornwall.

The witnesses who supplied CCTV live adjacent to a pub/restaurant. If you do some Googling it appears that several complaints/objections have been filed about noise and tit-for-tat harassment between the establishment owners and said witnesses. Guessing the CCTV might be related to that.

I'm not clear about this either. The Scottish phrasing maybe confused me (Edinlass can you help?!). Which lock did the grandmother leave the key in? Upstairs, downstairs, inside or out?
