I’m kind of irritated at the prosecution. All they are doing is calling him a liar after questioning him. It sounds like the back and forth quarrels between siblings :/

The worst (for them) thing the defence Could have done is put him on the stand. He appears to be so arrogant he will trip himself up again and again.

Difficult either way really -and, as he had produced a counter claim, pre trial, stating who he believed had murdered Alesha, it would have looked extremely odd if he had then not defended his claim.

They are trying to get a rise out of him so his answers are more reactive than rehearsed, I'd guess.

McSporran asked why he had not jumped into the sea after the jogging bottoms since he had been jumping in to the sea for around two hours.

McSporran said:"I suggest to you it is a fabrication." The boy said: "No, it is 100 per cent."

He said a friend made a mistake in thinking he had been wearing the jogging bottoms on the night of the party.

Respectfully, I am not sure why that irritates you. It is vital for the prosecution to call into question the accused's credibility (which is zero regarding his defense strategy) given the defendant is lying and lying and lying. The Credibility of the accused is very important to this case, how else does the prosecution tackle that short of directly confronting the accused over that. imo

Fraser Knight‏ @Fraser_Knight

Prosecutor puts to the accused that when he left his home in just shorts, carrying what he says was a black t-shirt, it was him leaving to dispose of his boxers and jogging bottoms

I understand. Just think the accused already knows he will be challenged on it so kind of a rubbish approach IMO. Should be catching him in his lies. Asking him to answer his contradictive points.

MOO, the defense attorneys are/were likely mortified But their client (the killer) gets to call the shots when push comes to shove. At least here in the states.

arghhh!! So how were fibres from them found on Alesha then

I believe that they are the same fibres but the forensic witness did testify that they could be from a similar pair. So the defence can use this as the rebuttal but I think the more damming evidence regarding the jogging bottoms is the fact his friend testified saying he was wearing them.

(The forensic expert) “Under questioning, he said the DNA findings from the homes were scientifically "neutral" and could not be used to either indicate or rule out the teenager being in the house Alesha was staying.”

Ahh ok, I didn't see that they could have been from a similar pair just that they were indistinguishable

Bit of visual information

Wearing a grey suit, white shirt and dark tie...

He was often asked to speak up and slow down while addressing the court.

Giving evidence, the teenager said he had been jumping into the water from a pier by himself.

He said: "Once I'd finished drying myself I went to pick my trousers up but I wasn't fast enough and they just went into the sea."

this defence is getting worse as it goes on

Hi I'm new to posting on this thread.

Followed the case in the beginning but found it absolutely horrific so took a step back but started reading again yesterday.

I don't think I've read anything quite so awful in a long time as what has happened here.

It's the stuff of nightmares for parents everywhere.

I think he has made a huge mistake taking to the stand himself if im honest as even though we are only getting tweets etc.. it's clear he's bluffing and making stuff up as he goes along.

I'm unsure if he had any sort of intimate contact with the girlfriend of Aleshas dad. Even if he did I don't buy his story about the condom and planting DNA anyway it's complete fabrication.

The fact they have DNA from him on her neck, vest, underwear etc...is enough for me!

Throw the book at him, there should be no leniency for him just because he's young.

Totally sick young man that has no place in society.

My heart goes out to Aleshas family, how does anyone get over what has happened?
