Yeah, he baffles me, wants to appeal his sentence but gives a horrific cold blooded detailed confession where he says he felt totally unconcerned after the murder other than to mildly amused. He doesn’t exactly help himself does he? And this kids supposed to be bright... all I can think is it’s either him wanting more headlines or that it’s his lawyer who’s put it forward to him and he’s agreed, cause surely he knows how he’s acted so far hasn’t helped an appeal case in any way?

I'm sure he was assessed prior to the trial but he denied the crime at that time, so I think it's harder to get an accurate analysis on someone (especially a psychopath) when they do not admit what they have done or when the full extent of their crime is not clear, as they have not explained it in detail. I do think the defence definitely will argue his age though, I'm sure that will be their major talking point.

Yeah I remember you saying his defence mentioned it repeatedly in court, that’s his only card he’s got to play I suppose the fact he’s under 18

His lawyer will play on Luke Mitchell’s sentence but remember Luke was 15 when what occurred occurred and everyone of his appeals have been rejected thus far, he even passed a lie detector test, it’s on YouTube. He was given 20 years and there was NO DNA evidence.

AC is in for a treat if he thinks his appeal will go anywhere....

Ok, I thought he could .
No doubt his lawyer is a lot more clued up on the law than me so maybe he'll find something that the ECHR will hear a case about, but I can't see it. He certainly can't appeal his conviction or sentence to them, they don't hear cases like that.

"The rational part of a teenage brain isn't fully developed until aged 25 yrs."
(I might know heehaw about psychology or law but as a mother I agree with that!)

Now factor possible psychopathy and anything else into that cocktail and well, it's not clear cut.

I agree! I've done quite a lot of reading recently about psychology and the teenage brain myself recently, fascinating stuff!

Fair trial - I'm sure a good HR QC could find an angle.

Maybe, but that still wouldn't overturn the conviction. The Bulger killers took a case to the ECHR on the grounds that, among other things, they were too young to understand the proceedings of an adult court. Even though the ECHR found in their favour their conviction still stood, they were just paid several thousand pounds each in compensation.

They were ten though, a 16 year old is going to have a harder time claiming he couldn't understand what was going on in court.

Does anyone know Aarons date of birth?

16th of May according to a news article that I can't find anymore, it might have been removed (@Kikixxxx linked it before).

Don't know if it got removed because it was incorrect information though.

EDIT: Oh nevermind, found it!

"Public interest reasons were cited as the abhorrent nature of the crimes, in which the public will have had ‘substantial interest’, and that the prohibition on identification would end on Campbell’s 18th birthday, on May 16 2020."

Thanks both for the info! So he'll be 17 soon. I wonder if any of his family will reach out to him on the day.

"Happy 17th birthday! Your first one behind bars! Hope you enjoy the prison cafeteria food and the lovely view from the iron-barred window in your cell."
