So what do they smoke the weed in?
Bongs, pipes, vapes, buckets, eat it in edibles...cigarette use amongst teenagers is on the decline.

As I said...always found it weird why they would disassociate the both, but they do. Lots of other methods tho. Bongs, pipes, buckets....

You can make it into an oil and vape it now too.

Is cannabis use rising in middle-aged people?

According to the report there has been a significant rise.

From the link

"The main finding was that the number of over-40s seeking treatment had more than doubled over the past 10 years for cannabis-related problems – rising from 471 to 1,008 – and from 27,092 to 64,195 for treatment for any drug."

"The long-term health effects of cannabis are still not well established, but cannabis use is likely to be combined with other substances, such as tobacco or alcohol, which we know have adverse health effects. Cannabis has also been linked to mental health conditions such as psychosis and depression.

The potency of cannabis has risen sharply in the past 20 years. So while people may not have suffered any serious side effects from smoking cannabis in their youth, the same may not be the case today."

Also from the link:

The most noticeable change was an increase in people aged over 40 accessing treatment.

The number of over-40s accessing services for cannabis increased by 114%, from 471 in 2005/06 to 1,008 in 2015/16.

Most cannabis presentations were still among under-40s – at 5,879 in 2015/16 – but this was only a 53% increase over the 10 years for this age group.

Presentations for any drug use increased by 137% among the over-40s over the 10 years, rising from 27,092 to 64,195. Comparatively, there was a 12% decrease for any drug use for under-40s.

Gender
Many more men than women accessed drug services. The male:female ratio was 3:1 when looking at those accessing treatment for cannabis use, and 4:1 for those accessing for any drug use.

However, there was a 95% increase in the number of women accessing services over the 10 years compared with a 72% increase for males.

Surely the figures speak for themselves, an increase in people accessing services is a result of an increase in people using.

I'm just reading and quoting from the link. 471 to 1008 over 10 years doesn't look like much of an increase to me, whereas the following paragraphs appear more important especially in relation to this case IMO.

It's a 53% increase, and thats just people who have accessed services so the true figure would be much higher.
I'm not disputing the following paragraphs otherwise i wouldn't provide a link.

Also, if you look at the increases for any drug and the increase based on gender it's safe to say there has been a large increase.

Thats only 5% increase a year accessing health services for cannabis in over 40's. That could be from when they took it in their youth or could be for medicinal purposes. What about teens? Are there stats for that? Probably not.

Yeah it's 5.3% and i think that's under 40's. Over 40's is higher in the report. You never asked me for a link on teens, you asked for a link on the increase on cannabis use. Like i said that's only based on people who have accessed services, there are many cannabis users who haven't so the true figure would be higher. I'm not sure teens would be comfortable in seeking help for drug use because of the criminality of it. Have you looked for any information on it? Did it say anything in the report about medicinal use? I don't think it does, i can't imagine anyone would access drug services for use of medicinal cannabis Medicinal cannabis is only just legal here therefore that wouldn't be included in the report. So there's no point throwing that into the mix. Further to that cannabis for medicinal use has the psychoactive THC removed, leaving CBD which doesn't provide a high of any sort.

I asked for a link for your statement that cannabis use had rocketed in the UK and you gave me this link showing 5.3% per annum increase in over 40's accessing health services for cannabis, roughly 50 people a year increase only. I don't call that rocketing in the UK, that's all.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Ah well we'll agree to disagree, drug use be it cannabis or whatever is on the rise in the uk regardless of age. The report says itself the figure may be higher as it's based on folk accessing services not everyone using drugs.
If there is an increase in accessing services then common sense says there is an increase in use.
Cannabis is not physically addictive, psychologically maybe but not physically therefore i don't see why an over 40 would access drug services because they smoked joints in their youth, they're accessing it because they have a present problem not a past one.

Well I've never had much common sense, so that's probably my problem. We'll see if drug arguments will figure in this case I guess.

As far as i'm aware now that (apart from sentence appeal) the case is all but ended there hasn't been any arguments from defence or prosecution regarding drugs. I don't know where if at all it would fit into the appeal but time will tell on that. It's heard on the 7th August.

Alesha McPhail's mum brands evil killer Aaron Campbell 'little f*****g runt'

is anyone going to the sentencing? I'd stay out of Georgina's way if you are....
"Didn’t last that did it. Give the rat nothing less and let me at it this time cause I will be ensuring there’s no one sitting in f***ing front of me!!!
"Anyway bring it on cause he won’t be the one smirking this time."
